  1. We can only hope Buxton doesn't destroy his hip as an NFL running back.
  2. I like his tweet after the performance today:
  3. Another thing to consider for BA scouting reports is that they obviously don't do it themselves. They gather information from sources with agendas. It is a much shadier market than say the Rule 4.
  4. This information is out there if you search for it. The Twins look "average" in the DR because they were a little late there with resources and don't throw money around haphazardly. Twind are leaders in Australia and Europe and strong in other regions.
  5. Sano indeed busted the budget and Pohlad approved extra money. He was also the highest regarded prospect since Miguel so he was underpriced because of the circumstances. It probably is counter to my usual plan but it was a unique circumstance.
  6. And people really freaked out about including Morlan.
  7. No. A top tier guy or two each class is assumed, especially when underpriced.
  8. I would like a little more of a mix of upside guys, but I generally would subscribe to the thought process that the younger the talent the more sense it makes to spread out risk. That is, in the international market I like more mid-tier signings while major league free agency I would want to consolidate value in fewer signings.
  9. I would still argue Target Field era over Bill Smith era. Things changed in 2009. I also appreciate the comparisons of Ryan of 10-12 years ago to now like nothing has changed.
  10. What are you basing this on. Among other things it is the least represented position in the hall of fame. Very hard skillset to find.
  11. Is it time to replace the Duensing rule with the Adam Brett Walker rule? Let's do this.
  12. If they don't include Sano or Buxton they don't get Stanton. No chance.
  13. OK, now there is a legit free agent 1B.
  14. It is probably safe to be dubious of the ptbnl. It was Jamey Carroll after all.
  15. I enjoy seeing a veteran like Carroll who has no future with the squad get a chance to make a playoff run. Any chance we see Thrylos complain that Terry Ryan has given another player away?
  16. A team can apply for an exemption in certain circumstances. I think Meyer would fit that well, but the main concern is that he needs to prove he is healthy and able to actually pitch in the league.
  17. I won't argue those names, but I also don't think it is a sure thing any of them would be clearly better than Morneau next year. There just isn't that much out there.
  18. One thing to consider is that there really isn't a legit FA 1B next year (or many difference making positional player FAs total). Kendrys Morales is probably the best and he really isn't even that good. Morneau might be second.
  19. I would still argue that the key thing to analyze is whether they spend their allotment or not. BA will even acknowledge themselves that their rankings don't correlate well with how bonuses are paid out.
  20. I'll also echo a couple of other posters in that the only way I get upset on international spending is if they don't use the entire budget that was given them. They still have over 10 months to spend the approximately $1 mil they have left.
  21. If you read this as people comparing them as similar prospects that is a you problem. We are all speculating on the readiness of Sano but few (if any) national guys have been suggesting he needs to be in the majors or that he is even ready.
  22. Just wait until Santana signs.
  23. I think the balls and strikes problem is vastly overstated. When it comes to umpiring, I am much more concerned about a fair/foul or an obvious play on a base/home plate being wrong.
  24. Good chance he doesn't see MLB time next year.
  25. My instinct would be that much of the WAR discrepancy comes from trying to quantify defense.
