  1. Imagine if Terry Ryan could trade with Bill Smith.
  2. The problem with Parmelee is a slow bat. No amount of playing time is going to remedy that. This isn't to say he shouldn't be playing more, but I suspect it won't make much of a difference.
  3. I think this is a little ambitious, mostly because I think the Royals are going to have a really good season next year. But I would agree starting in 2015.
  4. Would you say the same thing about Billy Beane and Andrew Friedman?
  5. It's quite a fair attack. I am quite happy for him but I am stunned by his performance so far. Absolutely stunned. If he is good enough to make it through the rest of the year and be a part of the opening day rotation next year I would be equally stunned. I am quite willing to be that stunned.
  6. I realistically can't conceive how Albers allows an earned run.
  7. I predict he signs with Texas.
  8. There is an easy counter. If the Twins put him on waivers Aug 1 and a team (ie Yankees) may claim him and refuse to give anything other than salary relief. Then the Twins have no way to receive compensation. At least now there is a little leverage.
  9. Two issues would be team situation/how competitive they are and also opportunity for the player.
  10. It shouldn't be that controversial. I do think there are obviously other factors and the money has to be significantly higher in some cases. But not this one.
  11. He also took the highest AAV, just not the most total money.
  12. Teams had several years to hire Glynn before 2012 when he was working as a scout. Credit the Twins for pulling the trigger.
  13. I always thought Slowey's main problem was a lack of talent.
  14. DL time probably set Stewart back. I wouldn't be surprised if both end up in Cedar Rapids.
  15. Perhaps. Or maybe the timing of the roster crunch coming soon.
  16. I don't have a problem with the article. I suppose with so many outlets publishing content will generally be the same thing said different ways. I absolutely hate the current rotation but I'm beyond bored with this current topic on Twins message boards.
  17. Next thing we know there will be a cutting edge study on how payroll has gone down this year
  18. Not respond at all? Not exactly cutting edge new information.
  19. Is there a link or context for this quote?
  20. I would be a little surprised. Abreu has no position flexibility and they just locked up a young 1b. There is definitely an opening for the Twins.
  21. I agree with this. Next year is the year to invest in one solid free agent starter - I don't think there is a great one to be had, at least not on the level of Greinke or Sanchez from this past year. Based on the options available and the recent comments from Jim Pohlad I would be pretty stunned if they don't sign at least one legit starting pitcher this offseason. I would expect another pitcher on a one year deal and probably a corner bat too.
  22. Why would you cite the two franchises that the Twins can't touch financially? These teams can buy wins but they can also afford to blow huge sums of money in that pursuit when the purchases don't work out. The Twins don't exactly have that luxury.
  23. It's either Wilkin or Thomas.
