  1. At the risk of mixing forums, and despite what many of us might encounter through media, I would say that is way that the vast majority of Christians (and others) live. I applaud him for that too.
  2. And I suspect the front office is not as willing to be as fast and loose with their pitching depth as people on this board might be. And I don't think think they agree with your evaluation of Tepesch.
  3. Not only that, they were trying to sign him to an early extension (which Grossman turned down). So he isn't exactly coming from nowhere.
  4. They can do whatever they want. But they don't have a RP ready (other than mop up guys) that they would want to call up at the moment, or any pitcher other than Berrios. They are really thin. Could change quickly is Chargois gets healthy and Burdi and Melotakis keep up their early season performance. But they aren't there yet.
  5. Unfortunately it is. The immediate pitching depth is such that they are kind of stuck with a bloated staff on the 25 man roster.
  6. It's definitely time. But there is not a clear pitcher to send out.
  7. I, for one, appreciate the burden you're willing to bear for the good of the board. It's a lonely island to say Buxton is struggling right now.
  8. This might be favorite story right now: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/19/business/energy-environment/exxon-mobil-russia-sanctions-waiver-oil.html I'm not even outraged, I'm amazed.
  9. Tucker Carlson. Whatever I guess, probably a little less obnoxious.
  10. They'll end up being boring and pick Kyle Wright.
  11. I wouldn't sleep on Kintzler either.
  12. Buster Olney posted this stat: http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=5&season=2017&month=0&season1=2017&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=11,a Mauer has the best swinging strike % in the majors. In one sense there could be an argument that he should swing more, but I'm pretty convinced that he is absolutely physically cooked. By limiting swings, he is still, in some ways, able to maximize what he can do - as little as that is. I don't think he can make the adjustments people are calling for here.
  13. I imagine they are still really hesitant to cut loose an arm and I can't really blame them. Outside of Berrios there's not a guy in AAA right now that's clearly ready to contribute to the pen or the rotation. Maybe Tepesch or Wimmers as a long man. If Chargois gets back healthy, or Burdi/Melotakis keep it up this equation could change.
  14. 26 is not old for a catcher to debut. Tough position.
  15. I'm also concerned if they called up Garver and he struggled there wouldn't be a good enough backup plan.
  16. He's also only played 30 games total at AAA, and this is a 7 game sample. He'll contribute soon enough.
  17. It was a quick hit on a tv show. It's going to be oversimplified right?
  18. He's an analytical punching bag. Don't want to upset that group, the backlash never ends.
  19. It's not like the replacement will be any better.
  20. I for one enjoy the semi-regular call for 2-4 guys to get released and replaced by guys from the minors.
  21. He had a really good deadline looking back. This and Nunez trade were solid, and the two other pieces he didn't move (Santana and Kintzler) have increased in value.
  22. I would look at this way, I think Santana has a decent chance of being good through his contract. While the Twins likely aren't making the playoffs this year, I think they can make another move in 18 and 19. If I'm going to move Santana I want something that will clearly build towards that. Otherwise I'd roll with Santana. Maybe my expectations are unrealistic, but I also don't see a huge need to move him, so I want it to be worthwhile. Maybe that package isn't there.
  23. Someone break out a violin.
  24. He might not make it the whole year.
