That was my thought too, fake injury to allow another bat while still keeping the pitching depth. I would imagine Boshers isn't long for the 25 man, especially since he has an option. Just up to eat some low leverage innings if needed.
Boshers does nothing for me, but I'll give the front office credit for maximizing the 25 man in the short term. Calling up Chargois would be a huge blunder which is why it wasn't considered. They needed a long man to provide insurance who may not even pitch for 10 days. Chargois needs reps to show he's healthy and hopefully take on a larger role soon.
Boshers is getting the call (for now). Looks like they'll go 4 man rotation for stretch. I would guess Berrios after that. The Boshers call up puts a little bit of a damper of the moves.
Good to hear. My family would have represented if my toddler hadn't decided to take an unprecedented am nap. It was right down the street from me, looked like a good crowd.
Because there is no reliever depth at the moment. The next pitcher they would go down and get, no matter what role, would be one of those starters listed. Again, it may change amd quickly, but not there yet.
http://www.espn.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/78866/how-did-twins-fix-pitching-without-changing-rotation ESPNs Mark Simon on early pitching success. First two parts are on new catchers and better defense, which have been covered well, but last part of article has some good nuggets. Big takeaway is Twins are #1 team in pitches to inner third and off the corner, and #6 to top of zone. Will be interesting to see if a new strategy and execution can improve performance long term.
Because the next pitcher to go down starts dipping into that thin pitching depth you just referenced. Could change quickly though if Chargois is healthy and producing, and Melotakis and Burdi (and soon Jay) keep doing their thing.
I'm confused, is Davidson a power hitter to be avoided or a strikeout candidate to be challenged? And there is no reason Pressly needs to be limited to 1 inning. That's not obvious.
He's not a good enough prospect to conserve service time. But Murphy may get the first call if the front office wants to get one more look, especially if it's as a backup.
The save stat created that role for sure, but my argument is teams are moving away from it. For example, there is really no difference between 3 and 4 anymore. There are still relatively locked in roles, but that is not because of the save stat.
