  1. So now we have a special prosecutor and apparently before the election the House Majority Leader "joked" that Trump was being paid by Putin. What will tomorrow bring. It if wasn't doing such damage to country this would be unbelievably entertaining.
  2. I'm surprised it took so long to bring on Clarke.
  3. I don't think it is limited to the division, most of the AL (and most of baseball) is pretty mediocre. Twins can hang with most teams. I expect Cleveland to get better and be the cream of the division, but it's not a sure thing. Their top two starters are currently injured, and much of the rest of the rotation hasn't been that good (bullpen is really good though).
  4. It was definitely more snark than serious, but you literally mentioned 28 year old relievers in the comment I responded to.
  5. I don't think it is service time, it is development time. If you take 2-3 years off one way, the chances of recouping value the other way are really slim. If I was drafting I would put no weight in that small probability. I would take the best hitter or pitcher and go with it. If they judge McKay the best pitcher, I can live with that. But if they think Wright is a better pitcher than McKay, but there is also some possible value from McKay hitting if he struggles as a pitcher so they take him, that is a mistake.
  6. I don't think so at all. I want to bet on the highest probability one way or the other. I think going through 2-3 years of development one way and then switching and thinking you'll get any type of significant value is more theoretical than reality.
  7. 20 seems about right. I think it is easy to look at the Twins and be critical (and rightfully so), but there are several really bad farm systems.
  8. His k/9 rate has been low all season, perhaps a sign of diminished stuff. Not always easy to rebound from serious injury.
  9. I think we are getting really good at determining who should not be on the roster, less aware of who the replacements realistically would be and how they would perform.
  10. Hard to imagine having a position player on the Twins 25 and younger. Impossible actually.
  11. Just remember, it's not a lie if you believe it.
  12. I appreciated Santiago's contributions to getting the #1 pick last year. But on a more direct point, the performance of either last year didn't matter. It was time for Nolasco to go. I do agree that if Meyer turns into a consistent mid-rotation starter, this trade is a disaster.
  13. I absolutely think their value is being inflated because they are so good at both pitching and hitting.
  14. Republicans now stuck between going down hard with Trump or impeaching him and watching him tour the nation imploring people not to vote for them. Screwed either way. Well deserved, might as well do the right thing.
  15. Mejia pulled after 3 shutout innings today, so looks like him on Saturday. So that's positive.
  16. I can only imagine what the intelligence community keeps away from the Administration. Not good for the country.
  17. He was a top 5 guy coming into the year. And he's been really good for 5 of his last 6 starts. He has size and stuff. Him and Greene are the only two that could become #1s in my mind. He had a slow start to the season, but has really picked it up recently, and is now performing at quite a high level.
  18. Looks like McKay and Wright will each get one more start before conference and ncaa tournaments start, so probably at least 3, maybe 4-5 more starts before the draft. Also interesting that the college world series starts 5 days after round 1 of the draft. Vandy and Louisville have a good reputation for not overworking their pitchers.
  19. Vocally critical with no action is worse than no action.
  20. One of these is not like the other.
  21. Looking like the Twins are leaning towards passing on Greene. http://www.1500espn.com/twins-2/2017/05/report-twins-undecided-leaning-toward-passing-prep-star-hunter-greene-draft/ Take Wright!
  22. It's way early to know either way. If he sticks at SS, it is quite possible Nick Gordon ends up as the best player out of that draft.
  23. I don't consider the pitching aspect likely either. It will almost certainly catch up to them. I'm not opposed to selling, but I want to see them really start losing first. I just don't think the AL is all that good. And I think being in a playoff race in September has value going forward for a young lineup. EDIT: Just look at what being in the race did for the 2015-16 team! But this team is different than 2015, much brighter future.
  24. I really like twitter. If you manage it well enough can be a great source of information, with both quick hits and links to longer stories.
  25. That is a little worse than I would have thought. We all know Hicks is the next Mays, but I don't think Dozier and Rosario are going to do enough to make up that gap. 06-11 was the worst stretch of drafting since Mauer. I think the 12-16 stretch will go down as more average (though probably not great).
