  2. Kind of amazing it was even a conversation.
  3. There's a lot of damage that can be done in 4 years.
  4. Wilk survives another day. This front office really likes to hold on to playerd at all costs.
  5. Anyways, good article. Don't have much to add, but that was a sobering list on the swinging strike rate.
  6. Perhaps an argument can be made that recent actions suggest we could use a few more appeals to authority as a basis for knowledge and understanding.
  7. And it wasn't even really an appeal to authority anyways (at least in the logical fallacy sense).
  8. Yes sir. There are certainly individual moves/decisions that were bad, but that is true of any organization. It is the failure to add talent via trade that is by far the biggest black mark of the Ryan regime. Really inexplicable.
  9. One thing Falvey said when he first started, and I'm paraphrasing, is that he thinks there are good people here and he wants to see how they do with more resources and support. He might be right! For example, it seems that Jack Goins group has about doubled in size sice they took over. With more staffing and a change of emphasis, it might bring more out of the current front office. Makes sense to take a year and find out, while also starting the process of bringing in your own people, such as here: http://www.1500espn.com/twins-2/2017/05/twins-hired-baseball-ops-assistant-front-office-continues-grow/
  10. It's probably time for AAA for Melotakis, but I don't see how such a low k rate will translate to mlb success. Does seem Burdi is starting to turn it on.
  11. I assume they'll DFA Wilk. During the limbo they can bring Turley back to AAA.
  12. Won't rank ahead of someone like Javier either, prossibly not the 35 and 37 picks either. But thinking some more, he probably will sneak into the top 10, and could move fast. He's off the radar a little because he's in extended and had some injurues last year, but Javier could very easily end up at #3 and sneaking into top 100s this offseason (assuming health).
  13. That last sentence isn't true. Probably at least 5 teams right now have systems that won't produce 1 starter as good as any the Twins have graduated the last two years. And the pitching you mentioned, while currently struggling, isn't dead yet.
  14. Not saying you're wrong but this would be pretty stunning. And no chance Levine would stick around.
  15. Drafting relievers was a mistake, but considering the position players that recently graduated it was not overrated recently. But the bad draft strategies and lack of other talent acquisition has not backfilled to the level that was needed.
  16. Marte won't even be in the top 10 this offseason.
  17. Several new front office hires too. Lots of shifting under the radar.
  18. I guess I see people discussing with more nuance a blunt point made in the original post.
  19. Part of the reason is that every front office is going to be about 90% the same (in the context of their resources).
  20. But on the bigger point, it was time for Ryan to go, but the franchise wasn't in dire condition. But it desperately needed an upgrade and some new ideas.
  21. I guess I won't speak for everyone but both of those points are absurd. The system isn't "fine" it lacks impact talent. That seems pretty universally acknowledged. And especially in the context of drafting high for so many years. On the major league roster, their pitching is still really bad. If they fill 4 holes it might be ok. But the lineup is close to legit.
  22. Or saying the pitching is just a tweak away. That's absurd.
  23. Exaggerating the points of others generally don't lead to.good discussions.
  24. Dip in velocity could mean injury too. And velocity usually drops going from every 7 days to every 5 days. I personally haven't dug in as much on Adell or Lewis. I'm much more on Wright.
