  1. The only one potentially fits that is Burdi. But there is enough risk that I would absolutely move him in a package for a controlled starter.
  2. Wright seems to be on track to break in next year.
  3. I don't know if I agree. There shouldn't be a problem running him out there if he pitches on full rest and they monitor pitch counts. Does seem he shut it down to protect from injury.
  4. They can absolutely trade any of those prospects not named Gordon for a controlled pitcher and not think twice. I'd also trade Chargois or Melotakis for a rental starter.
  5. I have no complaints about Sano, I'll take him as is all day. BUT, if he tightens up that k rate just a little (6-7%) while maintaining everything else, he enters another world. I think he can do it.
  6. Trading for a Richard type right now would be bad value.
  7. A trade is a good idea, I approve! But it's not a "nitpick" to talk about actually available options and what it would potentially cost to acquire said pitcher. It's kind of the critical detail.
  8. I agree with the last sentence, which is why he won't be moved right now. No reason for Pads to give him away, they can keep a high price and come down in July.
  9. He would probably cost that right now. Perhaps not in July.
  10. Vandy gets knocked out of the SEC Tourney, so Wright gets a week off before Regionals.
  11. I meant the Islamic extremism aspect of the violence rather than just violence in general. I do think the modern era is special in some sense, the violent death rate keeps dropping.
  12. I sometimes wonder if this is just the flavor of the day.
  13. To put it mildly. EDIT: But, similar to the Muslim infighting now, the violence from intra-religious splits is always a little more complicated than religion.
  14. All right, I'll buy it. But I still think there is risk in shutting down, with other guys passing you. Helped him that McKay faded.
  15. Sure, but it really won't start until mid-June. And the Twins really lack the assets to pay much of a premium to get a team to budge earlier, unless they part with a player currently on the roster (and creating another hole). They may be able to take a crack at a marginal guy or borderline DFA type and try and turn them around - but in that case I'd roll with Gibson for the immediate future. I do think they will have a chance at an OK rental or possibly a guy where they can take on money, but that is still a month away at least. Will be much easier to get a bullpen arm.
  16. What prospects are you talking about? This plan would make much more sense if the Twins were 10 games under .500, not in first place.
  17. Consider how Carlton pitched, not remembering that he was on the 87 team is very excusable.
  18. I don't see a starter available right now. You can have all the conversations you want. Mid-July, if the Twins hang on, can be a lot different story.
  19. Hicks for Lee was a nice story, but not a reality. Ms were never doing that.
  20. You had me until the Gordon reference. He's legit. Anyone else in the system could be traded (in the right deal) without too much worry.
  21. I don't think they've changed their opinion on Greene as much as they've moved on to someone else. I thought that was relatively clear. If Greene's camp didn't think so, I doubt they'd bother with a bullpen. Trying to recoup some of the money they likely cost themselves shutting it down early.
  22. Good stuff. Don't think there is a meaningful trade to be had for a month, but if they can hang around, which would involve a couple things to break their way, there will be some upgrades available that won't crush the farm system. The AL, perhaps outside Houston, really isn't that good.
  23. Depends on the alternative.
