  1. Even the Broxton deal last year doesn't have that kind of value. I get what you're saying, I just highly doubt such an offer will exist.
  2. Sure, but this: Is spot on. And it's the piece that you and others have repeatedly refused to accept. This team can't just augment itself via the farm and trading guys like Perk. At some point they need to hang on to talented, heart-and-soul types like Perkins and look to supplement with the piles of cash they have available. The more it looks like Sano and Buxton are fast-tracking, the more it makes the mistakes of the last offseason look apparent.
  3. Well said. You will be amazed at how many here will take issue with this common sense, wise post of yours.
  4. So does 0-3 with 3 ks mean you were right about him? I'm confused about how much I should judge one's value/career by one game.
  5. I'm not sure how proud one should be about that ace designation, but it has been a surprising positive. That said, TR didn't put this team at the top of the farm, that was a mutual effort with his predecessor. I'm happy Ryan is back too, but criticism/credit should still be accurate.
  6. Could you elaborate please? I'm curious what happened but didnt see it due to ranking MSNBC only slightly above Animal Planet on the pantheon of news options.
  7. Whatever you want to call it, he is exposing something they will try to hold him criminally accountable for. I agree with some of your sentiment but I worry the political spin will win out.
  8. The issues you are speaking to are knowledge deficits in the announcers. You can call for them to be educated or change in the booth, but so long as the old guard mans the booth, it will be nothing more than flashy graphics. I would personally like to see more conversational use of stats but that again relies on knowledge base of the announcers. Frankly, I think we are a generation of former players away from that.
  9. Bremer is right, at some point hammering stat graphics into the game every 5 seconds just to appease people is a bit of waste. At what point will that become sufficient? Is BABIP enough? Do we need a breakdown of every hitter's past success against a pitcher when it is partly cloudy and they had a good breakfast? Stats are amazingly awesome and baseball is a goldmine s for them. But at some point the content on the screen becomes an informational overload. Stat-heads who want it can go to any of the key data-mining websites and have it all at their fingertips now anyway, blasting flashy graphics just to say you're ahead of the broadcasting game seems like a silly demand to me. No reason for the broadcasts to become a cluttered mess, which is all it seems to me that Bremer is saying.
  10. Thoughts? To me, there is a major problem if this guy is charged with a crime. I understand the importance of having consequences for people revealing national security secrets, but the evidence he is providing indicate just how worthless all the conventional steps to solving the problem actually are. They have a token, rubber-stamping "court" overseeing it and they are rampantly lying to congressional oversight. If not whistleblowing....how does one voice concerns over government practice? Also, I'm very upset that both liberal and conservative congressional members are attacking Snowden already. Fact is, there are deeply held lefty and righty beliefs that should be 100% opposed to this, I'd like Congress to act it's part as a balancing arm of the government. Don't rush to condemn, go get answers and hold the other branch accountable.
  11. So....does Kennedy not understand that you should try to hit guys in the leg or back? I hate to say it, because I can't stand the Dodgers, but if you go head-hunting twice, that's on you. The other guys have a right to be pissed.
  12. Maybe I'm crazy, but I think I'm most comfortable with Parmalee out there. If I had said that four months ago I'd have been borderline worthy of a straight jacket, but of the options we have....I'd rather get all the big bats in the lineup and put Parms in CF. As well as he's played RF, he can't be any worse than the other options.
  13. Wow...a prompt DLing? That's a pleasant surprise.
  14. Baseball and a Kramarczuk’s Sausage might be the only reason I attend Target Field this year.
  15. Whether or not the name is the problem, North Stars is as much better than Wild as Justin Verlander is better than Jeff Gray.
  16. Rosario and Sano moving up. That is most excellent news.
  17. Even some of the best general managers, scouting departments, and managers have droughts of miserable decision-making. The very idea that a bunch of guys that haven't seen 1% of the dudes who will be drafted in anything but grainy videos should immediately temper any conviction of future predictions. I'm all about talking on how a 6'10 behemoth with a fastball cna help improve his game, or how his peripherals might transfer to the pro game. What I don't understand is declaring "X was a bad pick because he won't be a major leaguer" - well, the vast majority of these guys won't be, but don't pretend your insights are so superior as to make that declaration without some serious doubts.
  18. You misunderstand. Having an opinion - "projecting and debating" - about the player profile is one thing. Stating with any certainty that anything is a certainly good or certainly bad pick is where I get annoyed. Many of these kids don't even have film or have a grand total of 30 seconds of it online. Let's not pretend any of us are gurus. I think the interesting thing is to talk about how they project. What direction the team's scouting appears to be headed. Those sorts of things. But this thread is filled with people basically writing guys off. It's just impossible to know at this point.
  19. I've always thought hemming and hawing over the MLB draft is a bit silly. Unless you're talking about a college player you've seen extensively, most everyone here is gleaning all their information second or third-hand at best. It's exciting to project and debate, but I think it's really strange to start penciling anyone in as a starter or wiping them out as a wasted pick. It's just impossible to know at this point.
  20. I don't think there is anyone in the organization whose opinion I take more seriously than Molitor's. So this is awesome to hear.
  21. I don't think anyone is suggesting this is a silver bullet for avoiding injuries, but another helpful tool. It's clear that Mr. Johnson feels not having this hurt the team. That's a pretty strong endorsement of the value.
  22. That opens to door for a lot of excitement or quite a bit of bitterness. Fingers crossed here that Bryant would be the one slipping.
  23. I'm confused by the compulsion to dismiss this. Aren't the Twins themselves via Mr. Johnson admitting this has been a lapse in good judgement here? im glad we are doing this and a bit concerned we were late to the party.
  24. I was pointing out both sides have rational conclusions and rational reasons, but both were relying on poor arguments. There can be a difference of opinions in which case both sides make good points. I would say there are plenty of good arguments why it was a bad idea as well as plenty of good arguments why it won't hurt the Twins. Im just baffled how those two very rational points have devolved into box score posting and the inane defense of Butera by citing the Twins love for him among other recent bizarre defenses. None of that is necessary, much like your recent gotcha attempts.
  25. My trust in the Twins evaluating hitters has me crossing my fingers for Bryant.
