  1. Yeah, I say Boo-urns to all of this.
  2. Aoki isn't a CF, very true, but you keep missing the larger point: this is year three of reliance on Hicks causing a total disaster at the position. I think the notion that Shane Robinson was our best Plan B option the last three years is really hard to swallow.
  3. It is not a "this winter" problem. This is a three year, ongoing disaster. We could have traded for Gose, signed Aoki, traded for Bourjos, traded for De Aza, or kept Sam Fuld for all I care. Or any of the other many possibilities over three years. I mean, is it really your contention that for the last three years the best plan we could come up with as insurance for Aaron Hicks was Shane Robinson? We have PLANNED for Mastro, Jason Bartlett, and Shane Robinson/Schaefer the last three years behind Hicks. Last year we were saved from ourselves by the good fortune of Fuld being waived, but I find it impossible to believe those were our best options. So yeah, why the heck not give up a prospect that ranks 10-20 in your system for such a vital defensive position?
  4. The pet peeve negativity and bashing the FO for the sake of it is unnecessary, but we've also experienced four years of some of the worst baseball that's been played in the entire league. The expectation that there should be some frustration or pessimism is pretty realistic. Being positive for the sake of positivity in the midst of this kind of inept play would be kind of silly. Fair conversations that are critical should be embraced during times like this, but I agree there could be more effort by some include that very important "fair" part.
  5. Someone threw a 90mph fastball at someone's chin over an errant throw of gum. Something which, even thrown as hard as possible, with the most malicious intent, would at most cause you a minor irritation. I work with primary age children and we teach them not to make mountains out of molehills because it's stupid, childish, and counter productive. But from adult athletes, playing a kids game, it's ok to act like that. It's ridiculous and adds nothing to the game for anyone that sees those actions for what they are - juvenile. You know how you build a good rivalry? Competitive gameplay and high stakes. Anything else is fool's gold.
  6. You're just never going to get it. And that's ok, but these guys literally just started whining like babies over an errant tossing of gum. If I had made that up as an example a couple months ago you might have rightly called it a preposterous example. At this point, I'm not sure there is anything preposterous enough to suggest, that baseball players won't feel severe butt-hurt over.
  7. Clearly his experience at not being all that great is of huge value to us this year.
  8. We can debate what cheap means but to me the fact you have to give up an asset in order to patch a gaping hole doesnt seem like a bad idea.
  9. This does nothing to explain the last two years, it's not like our CF issues started a few days ago. They gambled on jumping a guy from AA with an awful plan B and then doubled down a year later with a backup plan inconcievably silly behind the same failed player. Then they gambled again with an only slightly better plan for a third straight year. Too many good players isn't a bad problem to have, especially when you are willing to let the best players play.
  10. The only explanation for this has to be that baseball players are jealous of how great soccer players are at being whiny primadonnas.
  11. Every time Smith comes up I point this out: If Wilson Ramos hadn't gotten hurt (a refrain that has continued by the way), there was strong talk that we were about to package him and Aaron Hicks as part of a deal for Cliff Lee. A) That's a deal TR would've NEVER even been strongly rumored to make and Regardless of whether that move would've gotten us a World Series, I'd go back and make that deal 100 times out of 100 knowing what I know now. Just goes to show how radically things can change.
  12. Then he should've better communicated that plan to his successor.
  13. I have a hard time blaming Smith for the Santana deal, that situation is 90% on Ryan for the crappy position he left it in. Smith had better options, true, but that's a crappy spot to be stuck in a month into a high profile job you have no experience at. Ryan should've handled that before he resigned.
  14. I would tend to agree. It doesn't have to be a bad thing, but I think it is hurting the organization.
  15. It continues to be my opinion that the Twins have two different philosophies of promotion for hitters vs. pitchers. They have been very aggressive advancing hitters but bordering on ridiculous in their pace with pitchers. I have no explanation for it, but it certainly seems like a philosophical belief within the organization.
  16. Thank god.
  17. Could not disagree more, but to each their own,
  18. They have one of the best radio play by play guys. The color guy is friggin awful.
  19. I'll repost something from the game thread here: I'm pretty sure TR knows more than me, but it's clear that Dave Dombrowski knows a helluva lot more about getting value OFs than Ryan the last few years. For all the nonsense about there being no options out there to fix our OF the Tigers just beat the bejesus out of us with a minor league deal signee in RF and a guy in CF that we could have had for the equivalent of Kepler or Harrison. And that's just two of many other guys that might have been on the market. We have deliberately ignored CF for the sake of Hicks and it has been a colossal disaster, it's time to just accept that.
  20. To those who continue to downplay our disaster of a CF situation, I present..... Anthony Gose. Please, let's never say again that there were "no options" out there. Let's bury that meme where it belongs.
  21. I want him to ruffle the feathers of the Republican party. To expose where they claim to be small government but ride the big government gravy train almost as much as the Dems. Your example about abortions is a pretty small one and was quickly rectified. The church and state are pretty damn separate.
  22. I figured it's only fair I share that pain.
  23. His first day on the campaign sure backed this up. From comments about keeping the government out of people's churches (where the hell is that happening?) to blasting reporters for tough questions....the guy basically took all the air out of the limited scope of what I thought he could accomplish. (Basically, ruffle feathers) Well, looks like I'm writing in Tyrian Lannister this year.
  24. I am reserving excitement for May until the actual call-up, because there is this nagging little voice that keeps saying "You know it's going to be Stauffer" I want to tell that little voice to shut up....but I can't shake the idea that it might be right.
  25. This is not a three month problem. CF has been a problem for THREE YEARS. Even if you want to believe Buxton is here by July, that's still half of this season and two previously bungled seasons.
