  1. So far you've compared teams based on records, I wasn't aware you were offering any reasons. You even cited the addition of the DH as being harder than the subtraction. I have no problem admitting the NL is better, it goes through phases like that in all sports. It's just not true right now, the NL is not as strong top to bottom. Largely because the bottom is SO bad.
  2. Labeling this stuff high school behavior is being very generous. I've seen kindergartners with better conflict resolution skills.
  3. Absolutely! I'm sure that will end all bad blood and ungentlemanly conduct! Nothing like being an even bigger jerk to teach a jerk to behave!
  4. Well not quite. You're supposed to also hurl a baseball or a fist at the offender along with swearing.
  5. Yeah, I'd suggest the whole flaw in your stance is your idea that .500 in the AL is the same as it is in the NL if teams like Texas and Miami have comparable talent levels pre-deadline. I'm not sure how anyone can look at Texas versus Atlanta or Miami and think they are on the same playing field. If anything, I think that comparison shows even more clearly the NL inferiority right now.
  6. Excellent post.
  7. Teams do get pissy about walk-offs and they do get pissed at showy pitchers. You could look up at least an hour's worth of clips of whiny players being mad at the emotion of Carlos Gomez alone.
  8. The AL is at the more significant disadvantage. I'd also argue you are putting the cart before the horse. Those NL teams sold off because they stink terribly, now they are even a bit worse.
  9. Nobody would get upset at emotion? Um....have you just started watching baseball?
  10. Um, both leagues have a handicap. You don't think it hurts AL teams to lose their DH? Look, I'm not fiercely pro-AL or anything but it appears to me that the NL has WAY more garbage teams that the competent ones are cleaning up on.
  11. I think it's silly to pissed at the flip, but as long as they don't retaliate I don't really care. Don't give up the homer if you don't want someone to admire it.
  12. That better be the last time.
  13. I think we all agree it was ridiculous hyperbole for Hunter to get any MVP votes. It was Molitor trying hard to pat his guy on the back and he went to a silly, over-the-top point to do it. His deeper meaning that Hunter has been a valuable addition (certainly more than I ever thought it would) is a fair point.
  14. And everyone agrees he seriously overstated his point. No one is suggesting he deserves MVP votes in this thread. We're all going to disagree about how impactful intangibles are to a team's records. Hell, that's sort of the definition of intangibles.
  15. Whew! Good thing NO ONE IS SAYING THAT. You just admitted it can be a good thing. You agree with pretty much everyone you seem to think you disagree with. So what the hell are we talking about?
  16. We have Rosario, Buxton, Hicks, Arcia, and Kepler as potential outfield options. Hunter shouldn't even be Plan Z.
  17. People are getting way too caught up in Molitor's hyperbole. All he (and several players) are saying is that Hunter has helped changed the team's mental approach to the game. I doubt there are many Twins fans that have stayed tuned in the last few years that didn't notice that the team looked beat and defeated for long stretches of the season. I was against signing Hunter (and very against resigning him) but I think he's brought more value with the bat, glove, and intangibles than I thought he could. I think we can tip our cap to that effort, which is what it seems that Molitor is doing here. He just went overboard in doing so.
  18. I think we all wish it was Mauer, but it just isn't. And that's ok, Mauer has been a great player for the team, but I do think good teams need different personalities on it and at least one guy with some spitfire who is seen as a leader. He's been more productive as a hitter than I thought he'd be too.
  19. I like what Hunter has given us this year. I think his competitive approach from a team leader was badly needed on this team. But Molitor is in way too deep with the hyperbole and we should look to have internal leaders step up and be that guy. Let Rosario or Sano or someone else take that mantle now.
  20. What this season does is give the Twins all the reasons in the world to be aggressive about their chances in 2016. Let's see if the GM does that whenever this pleasant ride is over.
  21. Gardy...is that you? It'd make a whole hell of a lot of sense on a number of fronts if it is
  22. This seems relevant.
  23. Probably a B for me. I was on board with Jepsen and he had exceeded my expectations. But they needed more bullpen help and sooner, thats my knock on them.
  24. Probably a B for me. Liked Jepsen well enough at the time and the results have been very good. I ding them for not adding another arm and sooner.
  25. It's why we need a more libertarian alternative to the Dems. Not hardcore libertarian, but a party without the stupid social issues stances of the Republicans but with a functioning brainstem for solving problems unlike the Dems.
