  1. Maybe the offense is enough to make up for it, but he basically became unplayable in the Finals because of his inability to match up with people. And I worry, because he's already not much of an athlete, that his decline will hit sharply.
  2. Has Pat Dean's plane landed yet?
  3. I get your argument kab, but Love isn't much better in terms of the liabilities he offers. Yes, he can space the floor on offense, but then his rebounding value takes a hit. Add in that he basically can't guard anyone, regardless of skill set. Big guys are too physical, small guys are too fast, he's just an instant matchup nightmare defensively the second he hits the court. I'd like the death lineup idea for this team, but we need to find a 4 that fits that and I'd agree Okafor does not. But neither does Love.
  4. The preview definitely hinted at what I suggested earlier - he has genuine affection for Sansa, but he's also playing his game. The two things work together in his eyes. The question is, did he burn that bridge too badly?
  5. Then this thread would belong under "Minnesota Twins Talk" and not "MLB Baseball"......
  6. Oh I totally agree, I love the books but their problems are much, much worse than any mistakes the show has made. The show is a milestone in taking fantasy novels and realizing them. It should open the door to a host of other shows in the future. It's deserved every accolade.
  7. Yeah, I think the show realized that but didn't want to give too much away. I really think a lot of the pacing problems of this season are due to the fact that the show producers planned on having Winds of Winter available to help them and then just had to wing things. And they haven't done the best job of it. But I agree, more from them is a good thing.
  8. There are definitely magical qualities to the White Walkers. The extent of those powers have never been put on display in their full capacity, at least not that we have seen or know of. But I absolutely imagine the dragons will all be in play in that battle. Or at least they'll be key to it.
  9. Compared to the source material the show has put a giant spotlight on the White Walkers. The books opened with them and then has put virtually no effort into further unveiling their role in the series. Or anything about them. Or even having encounters with them. They've basically been an afterthought for about 4-5,000 pages.
  10. That was Jon's first time at any real command opportunity. Certainly with that kind of manpower in play. It was dumb and emotional, but that's also just who Jon is.
  11. It's probably Kershaw, but Scherzer belongs in the list too.
  12. There is a cartoon for each season Mike and the voices change based on the actors reading their parts. I'd look for the ones that state they are attached to the GOT's DVDs. As for that review, I think we sometimes over think things when it comes to characters. We expect pure, unadulterated logic and foresight when, in reality, many of us act stupidly and emotionally every day. We just do it in our own particular ways. Jon is honest, honorable, and puts pride into his family. Basically, he tries every day to be Ned. Were his actions foolish. Yes. But if characters never acted foolishly we'd never have dramas. It's human nature and, as jimmer said earlier, his reaction was absolutely Jon. Gullible, naive, emotional, and honorable Jon.
  13. Ah yes, forgot that they failed with a Dragon to take Dorne. There may have been some others as well, I think during the Targ civil wars there was a dragon and rider that were lured into a trap and a number of ships (all with men firing a range of weaponry at it) managed to take it down. But the examples are few and far between.
  14. Those actions are awful. And so is your false equivalency.
  15. Love's problem is also a lack of versatility. Can I understand not loving Okafor fit? Yeah, but for the same reasons I can't see Love as a fit either.
  16. And having Kevin Love on your team means he basically can't play against teams that feature players like Draymond Green or other athletic PFs. The trade off you're proposing isn't a no brainer, it's a choice between more floor spacing and one horrific defender, or someone with more of a presence in the paint. See, for me, I like the idea on offense of letting Towns be both an inside and outside force and you have that when you have a guy like Okafor around. Towns can space or he can join Okafor down low. And I'm fine with allowing a big man to stay on the court because I still like the matchup of Towns versus basically any type of front court player you can imagine. And it allows for two good rebounders to work together on both ends. Neither scenario is likely to happen. Ideally, in a perfect world, I'd rather pair Towns with a Draymond Green. That's the best of both worlds.
  17. If it's not an argument, why did you present it? Also, this "I'm the victim of being misinterpreted" would be a lot easier to swallow if even once you clarified your position when asked. We're at 6-7 times by my count that someone is baffled by your argument, asks for clarification, and you shift the argument somewhere else rather than elaborate. In the spirit of your "hand of god" argument, I declare Purple Monkey Dishwasher. Which, as we all know, means gun control must happen.
  18. Keeping him on the roster isn't the goal. Playing him is.
  19. Didn't you just describe someone that can't hit .200 in Rochester as "When you suck, you suck"? So for one guy that means cut him. For another guy that means he's our future starting catcher.
  20. So, your idea that's better is to have Kevin Love defending on the perimeter? While he may be better for spacing on offense, he's just as big (if not bigger, because he can't defend anywhere on the court) a liability on defense.
  21. Please, share how the "hand of god" is at all relevant or, really, anything but a fallacy. It's basically this. Including it is basically an effort to derail the conversation. But, by all means, explain your argument.
  22. So, wait, the totally predictable thing happened....again? Let's add that to the mountain of things many of us said this offseason were mistakes that have come to fruition. This plan NEVER made sense. It was abysmally short-sighted and misguided. It shouldn't have taken two months of god-awful play and an injury to see this as a mistake. And so much for all of you who said his move was about the team's perception of his ability. Are we all ready to concede now? The team moved him in early November meaning they made the following decisions at the START of the offseason: Plouffe was essential to keep (slaps forehead), Park was essential to sign (so far, not so good), and therefore Sano's only available spot is RF. His move never had anything to do with what was best for him or his perceived defensive skill set. He was moved to make way for Plouffe and Park. Seriously, if you're on the fence about Ryan in any way, this should be enough alone to tip you to the side of "Thanks for everything Terry, you're welcome to consult with us, but you're done making decisions here" group.
  23. Not to mention that the same people/god that deemed the 2nd amendment vital also deemed an interpretive branch of government vital.
  24. The Targs took over Westeros basically on the ability for Dragons to wipe out entire armies (field of fire) and castles (Harrenhal, from back in the Tywin/Arya scenes). They basically only died off when the Targs had a series of civil wars and struggled to continue breeding them until they went extinct.
  25. The hand of god just forgot about everyone that wasn't a wealthy white land-owner huh? C'mon. That can't be a serious argument.
