  1. My money is on Arya killing Cersei.
  2. I agree, a bone to the White Walkers would've been wise. And I think the tease with the rose was to get us to think she had a plan and the way she talked to the Septon makes me think she did. And Tommen was in on it. But Cersei outfoxed them all and whatever schemes Margery was working were irrelevant after that. And the flexibility with time and travel this season was hard to ignore. They were playing very fast and loose. But my wife brought up a good point....so you stretch out some of those travels - then what? Do we need to see Jon and company riding sulkenly through the snow? Or Varys sitting on a ship? I think given the choice between a fast and loose scheme for time/distance and dragging things out - I choose fast and loose.
  3. I think Dany conquering Westeros while the North tries to defend the Wall is next season. The defense at the Wall fails and Dany has to come north to help. But you were spot on about the women Mike, good call.
  4. That was a really good episode. They tied together so many plots! The Tyrells, Martells, Greyjoys, Unsullied, and the Khalasaar all escorting Dany and her dragons to Westeros is really satisfying. How in the hell can the Lannisters fight off a force that size? It's going to have to be an absolute butt-kicking right? Not to mention that the entire south is basically without heirs - the Baratheons, Tyrells, and Martells all have basically had their lines wiped off the planet. Freys, Boltons, Karstarks, Umbers are on that list too. And the Arryns and Lannisters may not be far behind. Suddenly the Starks are looking alright..... So here are my lingering questions/thoughts: 1) Benjen talked about the magic that keeps the wall up and the White Walkers out. Is it the same magic the Three-Eyed Raven used at his tree? If so, is Bran basically the Night King's free pass into Westeros if he passes the wall? Also, what good is Bran as the Three-Eyed Raven at this point? We know Jon is a Targ now, but where does that go? 2) What's Arya's next stop? To see Jon or to cross Cersei off her list? 3) Littlefinger won't abide by Jon and Dany rising up to take what he thinks is his, so what's next for his schemes? 4) Melisandre joins Dany's crew? Or what's her purpose now? 5) Euron has to be the one to try and bail out Cersei right? Otherwise how the hell can any force stand against what Dany is bringing across?
  5. Yup and at least two of those decisions shouldn't even have to be "changes". They should have never happened in the first place. But I do think it's becoming clear that Buxton is going to have to stay in AAA. Until Sept. or next season for all I care. He's not ready.
  6. I'd like to see: SS Nunez 2B Polanco DH Grossman 3B Sano RF Kepler 1B Park LF Rosario C Murphy CF Buxton SP - May, Gibson, Santana, Duffey, Wheeler RP - Kintzler, Tonkin, Pressley, Rogers, Chargois, Meyer, Walden
  7. You should direct that question at the people wanting to buy. I'm as baffled as you are.
  8. At some point it does become "pointless" though. You're talking about asking three of the guys that should be manning life boats for this Titanic to go slap a new paint job on the ship because, dammit, it's never pointless to make the ship a little better! That mindset is just bad asset management. It sounds good on a bumper sticker but that's about it.
  9. You don't even have to believe the assets you are giving up are future major leaguers, they are just assets. And advising us to burn those assets on a player that has limited team control and is reaching an age where decline is a real possibility.....that's just a really bad idea. Improving the team via FA makes sense. You're just burning cash. Trades require you give up assets and in this case yo'd be giving up multiple assets for one player you have a limited window to retain. That's folly.
  10. Especially when said player costs you a handful of other player assets.
  11. They also could have dropped any of the dozen schmoes in the bullpen.
  12. Sure, fair argument. Then keep them both and send Park down.
  13. What's swayed you Mike? Out of curiosity, I don't know how I feel about it.
  14. Are Arcia's 2013 and 2014 seasons a figment of my imagination? They exist right? So his positives? Well, how about at age 23 he's had a far better start to his career than virtually anyone else we've called up in recent memory. He hits for power. He clearly worked hard to lose weight and come in in-shape. We're well past the point where he should've been taking Park's at-bats. Hell, even the manager has very little confidence in Park.
  15. Two primarily come to mind: 1) That those sharing their wealth will be appreciated and recognized and 2) That those receiving the shared wealth will use it to improve their condition. Germany and others have been actively doing everything in their power, largely with little to gain, to boost up other nations and have continued to be portrayed as bad guys. Greece, in particular, was harsh despite them pouring billions into their economy. On the second point, Greece was given enormous amounts of money and the response was basically to do nothing. The same problems persisted and no effort was made to change the ongoing poor decisions. They just took the money and doubled down on the mistakes that were keeping them in trouble. It's not a given that giving money to those that need it results in a better world. In fact, it appears to be MUCH more complicated than that.
  16. You're working from at least one very flawed assumption: Polanco's career vs. Dozier isn't happening at the same time. Their age, team control, and other factors make a difference for how you plan. So while we shouldn't plan solely based on age, it has to be a huge factor. Throwing multiple assets at one player doesn't help us get better. We need to improve the number of assets we have, not deal four quarters and hope for a dollar. We need to keep the quarters and turn them into dollars themselves. What you're advocating is extremely dicey.
  17. What about those of us that just wanted him gone? No one is asking for a big trade. We're asking to move guys that don't have a long-term place here and are in the way of a better roster. Kepler is not part of any of those groups.
  18. Wish we could have kept him, *sigh*
  19. Yeah, I was trying to be as kind/fair as possible given how far out in crazy town some of these ideas are.
  20. I truly hope you're wrong about that Parker, but I suspect you're right. That kind of thinking has plagued the organization for awhile. I'm fine with him being a feast or famine hitter and the Twins should be too. Just let him hit 6th or 7th while he does it and let him be who he is.
  21. I seriously can't believe people are advocating trading Max Kepler right now. Am I in some kind of cruel Twilight Zone episode?
  22. When did they go back to "accurate" because they were clearly off-calibration from about November-February?
  23. We should ask Logan Darnell. It might even deserve it's own place among Ryan's advisors when he retire. I'm sure he'd accept a cushy job predicting future Triple A LOOGEYs that are occasionally, mistakenly thought to be valuable or even starters.
  24. I know, I'm pulling for "meh" too!
