  1. Oooh, thanks for this!
  2. While I'm sure we all chuckle about the sandwich line....the problem here is that they'll fill the position with someone who actually likes the sandwich. We need competent, respectable people to wade into this nonsense in some blind hope they can keep it anchored. So I take this as a bad thing and I worry who will accept the position.
  3. Scarlet BYTO labels for us all huh? *Eyes suspiciously*
  4. To echo others, i wouldn't be penciling Hughes into anything.
  5. I don't think people realize how bad hitting is for catchers in baseball right now. It's a huge part of what made Mauer so damn valuable, even if he wasn't slugging like a mad man.
  6. Man I wish we would've given that job to a guy with more upside. Turn those save stats into profit.
  7. I'd consider it. That'd just be one hard pill to swallow, but I'd probably do it. (Especially once we have Peterson's money gone) I think the tag would only be a couple million raise from what he made last year and you'd at least give yourself a viable LT for another year. Maybe while you groom another guy at RT for a year? (Thinking a draft pick)
  8. I miss BYTO, there was a little bit more of an "unhinged" element to the conversations and I miss that. Things wheeled a bit more freely and as a result there was some pretty awesome stuff we came up with over the years. We were our own little whacky society of Twins fans with our own language, memes, etc. I miss the hell out of that. That said, I see the vision for Twins Daily and I've come to appreciate it's existence as well. Like Pseudo said, most of us have known each other for a huge portion of our adult lives so the sense of community from BYTO is still here. And the baseball content here is really, really good, so it's been fun to merge those elements.
  9. Kalil is going to get paid. PAID. This offseason there is an enormous need for many teams (contenders and wannabes alike) to improve their line play. Line play around the league is absolutely terrible, so if you think Kalil is going to have to settle for a 1 year, make good deal....you're kidding yourself. I probably pony up for Zeitler so I at least have one spot upgraded. For LT? I might take a shot at Clady on a bounce back and I draft at least two linemen in the first four picks of our draft. But don't kid yourself, the options are going to stink. We aren't going to walk out of this feeling really good.
  10. Right, Pence may be awful but he's not scary in the way some of these other guys are. You still know he'll put the country first, even as he pushes his agenda. Most of us would never vote for him, but i think all of us would given a binary choice of Pence or Trump. That's more of an indictment of Trump and his lackeys than an endorsement of Pence.
  11. I like Brodin, but at some point costs come into play here too. We simply might not be able to afford to keep Nino and Zucker and Granlund with us paying Brodin and Scandella as much money as we are. And if i have to choose Brodin or one of those three forwards to move on....I choose Brodin.
  12. Absolutely. I mentioned that a few pages back, they've almost taken to matching the left's silliness. And now actually one upping them. It's horrifying.
  13. Yeah, his NTC is a major complication.
  14. I think these would be my preferred options: Offer Vegas a pick to take Pominville for us if he is willing to waive his no-move clause Failing that.....I hope they take Brodin. We are in a better position to lose a D-man than Zucker IMO. Granny, Nino, and Haula are all RFAs. But if you can find a way to shed Pominville and Brodin than you can keep all three of those guys around. And I think that should be the plan. I like Brodin, but I think we can get by without him. Oloffson, Folin, Reilly, etc. are all options.
  15. And Rand is one of the ones I'd put as "more likely" to fight back. Ugh.
  16. Also, interestingly I caught Laura Ingraham on Fox and Friends (flipping channels) and i stopped to see a right wing take on Flynn. She was highly critical of everyone in the West Wing being "yes men". Found that interesting. Cracks forming?
  17. Well then....
  18. Yowza. I wonder....what happens now? Do they double down and keep pushing this guy out there or do they hide him? And I ask because if they do keep pushing him out there, then we better be ready for **** to turn really nuts really fast after the court decision is handed down. If they hide him, then at least there is some degree of self-awareness and level-headed decision making. I don't know if it's fascism (yet), but it's brazen disregard for our laws and how our republic is supposed to work.
  19. On the plus side, Melissa McCarthy's "Spicey" is absolutely brilliant.
  20. That was my thought too. There were some rumors it was cancer, but that whole situation was rather strange. Especially after he came out publicly stating that he was ready to play, or wanted to.
  21. I'm adding this site to my regular reads, thank you for this. A lot of interesting stuff. I liked this one too: http://democracyjournal.org/arguments/power-matters/
  22. Fusco and Harris are cut now, so only three OL under contract on the team at this point. I'd really like to know what was going on with Harris. And I'd still be open to bringing him back, he was pretty good in 2015.
  23. Yahoo sports has us taking Kamara with our second pick. Walter football has us taking: Taylor Moton, Nazair Jones, Ethan Pocic, Ardarious Stewart, and Marlon Mack with our first five picks. I don't love Moton, I think his poor foot speed and athleticism is a bad combo. I like Pocic as a choice in the third though. Overall I wouldn't be real happy with that group.
  24. Huh, yeah, not sure where I pulled Grossman from. My bad. Park I understand misgivings about, he's 29.
