  1. Hmm, if that's true, I may lean towards a Pominville buyout.
  2. I know buyouts have huge drawbacks....but is a Pominville buyout an option?
  3. I would bet that even if we have to expose one of our young forwards, that Brodin will still be the choice they make.
  4. Guess they'll know what FA feels like for athletes!
  5. Wow, I heard big names would drop, not sure I really believed it until now. A real changing of the guard.
  6. He didn't have a good season, but going forward I'd much rather the Vegas team takes Brodin.
  7. And yet, this thread exists because the supposed historian and expert on the "rules" is telling Sano he wasn't being "appropriate enough". You know, part of the reason we write down rules is to eliminate ambiguity. It helps stem the tide of people putting their own spin on "justice". This instance is one of many that happen every year in baseball - like a guy being thrown at for stealing a base up 3-1 in the seventh, or bunting against the shift, or pumping his fist too many times on the way around the bases - where it becomes clear the unwritten rules really aren't all that clear at all. At what point do we accept that there is no rational grounding to having these rules? That not only is there no proof that they work at what we say they work at, but that we can prove the exact opposite? That they both lead to nonsense and stupidity themselves and that there are tens of thousands of baseball games played every year that don't adhere to this code and somehow still get completed without an orgy of lawless violence? Why must we have them if it's so plain we don't?
  8. Am I late to the party in realizing QB Pat Mahomes is the son of Twins legend Pat Mahomes?
  9. Brodin is signed through 2021....w do you figure he is still under control?
  10. Pretty much nailed it. Kepler and Castro probably take the next two spots for me.
  11. Not just for accidents. You can be retaliated against for things like stealing a base, bunting against shifts, pumping your fist, and enjoying your success. Let's not limit the range of stupidity baseball engages in,
  12. I would venture to guess someone would being saying to Haley "Hey....let's not hit other guys in the face, let's get outs" without people having to be thrown at. Call me crazy I guess. I think that's sort of the object of baseball.
  13. C'mon, he was upstanding enough to report/not deny all his state-sanctioned murders. Give the man some credit.
  14. Granted, it's a low bar, but this seems like a far more effective solution.
  15. That's my thought, China knows they can't push too hard without being the one that pays the heaviest price. So they are playing a delicate balancing game here, but I'm not sure it can be maintained. This creepy little a-hole is on another level from his creepy a-hole bloodline.
  16. I agree, so what could it be? My working theory is that China somewhat fears North Korea. They have such close proximity that any intervention on their part would almost certainly be met with retaliation. And perhaps NK can't launch a missle to Seattle yet, but I bet they could hit Beijing. I could be way off though.
  17. I guess I don't see where holding 30 year olds to the higher standard we hold 15 year olds to should be all that difficult. I mean, if teenagers can handle their stress and act like adults....why can't the adults?
  18. All of these things are based off of "eye for an eye". So, yes, that's precisely what it was. We teach children one of the most basic social skills is to accept accidents happen and not retaliate against other people. Yet baseball players....
  19. No retribution was ever needed. Mistakes don't require old testament retaliation.
  20. I just meant people had talked about Scandella and his cap hit several times, so it seemed as if people weren't aware that Brodin had a similar contract. I think Brodin is more easily replaced with someone like Olofsson.
  21. Brodin's cap hit is higher next year than Scandella's. Just FYI.
  22. I think Sano walked into his glove. He may have even lifted McCann's arm and hit himself with it. Darn inappropriate behavior.....shame on Sano amiright?
  23. The only time I get enraged is when someone (on any team, including the Twins) intentionally tries to hurt someone else. Accidents happen, resorting to retaliation over them is beyond childish.
  24. The irony in this statement is almost too rich: It's almost as if you could apply that same thing to, I don't know, every unwritten rules situation. In any case, we see the real problem for baseball. Too many latin players not being "appropriate enough". Gotta learn 'em somehow!
  25. Plus, this is the same manager that debuted him in the third spot to start the year. If Buxton shows he doesn't need to be pinch-hit for, I'm betting it stops in a hurry.
