  1. Yup, I like analytics, but sometimes the zeal makes me wonder if I've just missed passing by the Church of WAR or something. But I'm guessing they'd settle on a less problematic name....
  2. I disagree, I don't expect Santana and Santiago to continue at this pace. That's not to say they turn into pumpkins, but they'll take a step back. Hughes might very well do the same. And we've already seen what the depth looks like should even one injury happen.
  3. We get to be extremely confident we're right until we're wrong. Then we get to go back to being extremely confident again. Analytics! (Relax boys, there is a kernel of truth in it but relax nonetheless. No one is impugning your analytics, just mocking your use a bit)
  4. I always say with a young team I could see things going 10 games better or 10 worse compared to the line just because it's hard to predict when young players will sort it out. It's why it's best not to expect anything too soon or rule out their chances altogether too soon. Still, this pitching staff worries me if Berrios is anything other than a Rookie of the Year candidate.
  5. Nothing short of Gordon and I wouldn't do that.
  6. I've always been a bit of a fanboy of Rosario. He provides a really tantalizing blend of defense, speed, and power. It's awesome to see him putting it together this year.
  7. Clearly he's advanced a lot since.....ah the hell with it. Glad he's up, it's about time, we don't have to hear any more stupid reasoning for why he's down there, and now we get to see this kid pitch. Let's hope it's the last time he sees AAA for a long, long time. (If ever)
  8. Right, but my contention with his relationship with Kim is what he'll have that broken in order to give it all up. I don't deny he'll give in completely to his Slippin' Jimmy/Saul, but it only comes after all the relationships around him that he cares about are broken.
  9. Papi: My Story has already put Valentine on the defensive.....any guesses on what he says about the Twins?
  10. Boo jinxes!
  11. After BB, they take place in Omaha which is where Saul jokes at the end of BB he'll end up.
  12. Yeah, that's an ugly misplay.
  13. Let's also be clear here....the Ducks were lucky there even was a Game 7. If Edmonton wasn't pre-pubescent for their average age that series might have been a sweep the other way.
  14. Whenever I've seen him he's a rare blend of outstanding instincts coupled with athleticism and a ballsy approach. That guy plays one helluva short CF.
  15. I'm surprised no handler has literally taped his mouth shut and smashed his phone.
  16. I read that this morning and wondered why Kiermaier didn't make it. For some reason I've seen a lot of him and he strikes me as outstanding. Can't say I've seen Inciarte though, I'll have to check him out.
  17. Your opinion on mint chocolate chip means we can't be friends. (We might be able to associate though if you agree Pistachio Ice Cream is amazing.)
  18. Rosenstein must think (rightly) that him threatening to quit matters to people in the White House. Why? I'm genuinely curious why they just didn't let him resign? Would it be that he'd spill the beans on how it really went down?
  19. I disagree in one respect: Jimmy truly doesn't want to be Saul. Yeah, it's part of who he is, but he has worked damn hard and sacrificed a lot to be legitimate. These little Saul-like things he does are breaking all of that down IMO.

  21. Yeah, Floyd does nothing for me. Is anyone else irritated how last year when our QB has a fluke injury our best option is Michael Vick and this year Romo, Cutler, Fitzpatrick, and Kapernick (among others) are all available? Screw you Football Gods!
  22. Except that goes back to my earlier point, I'm not going to buy into a 110 wRC+ player who did that with one fluke month and then the rest of the season returned to being a 85 wRC+ player. Or, if I am buying, I'm buying at a 85 clip. The next few months make a big difference, if I had to choose right now - I think this is a fluke. 1,000 PAs would indicate it and some of the peripherals aren't encouraging for it to be sustainable either. But time will tell.
  23. I probably don't want a 110 wRC+ player if he did that in one month before reverting to the 85 wRC+ player for the rest of the season. At the very least, I consider that player the 85 wRC+ player until he shows me it wasn't a fluke. We are still in fluke territory for quite a while.
  24. Since his prior wRC+ marks are 64, 96, 83 and (hypothetically) four months of the season he spent back in that territory....perhaps calling him a 100-110 wRC+ player is a tad hasty considering it was driven by one month that stands out like a sore thumb. Maybe he continues to have a career full of sore thumbs....but how often do guys like that stick around to continue that? You're basing your characterization off of a small sample that contrasts heavily with almost 1,000 PAs. I'm basing mine off the larger sample. I am more than willing to admit I gave up on him if he turns this month into a sterling career or even a career of sore thumbs, but I'm going to need more than 94 ABs to start radically changing about how I talk about him. He isn't a 110 wRC+ player and I'd argue we're a significant amount of proof away from saying that.
  25. Looking only at final results without context seems like not only a silly way to do things, but almost guaranteed to fail.
