  1. It can be true that the Jags were very good against the pass and true that their numbers are helped by the fact that they had a bad run defense. The Vikings were good at both. And their numbers on third down are maybe the best indicator of all on just how good they were as a unit against the pass.
  2. That's true, that might be different. I suppose that depends on where he is most comfortable. Though I've never understood why NFL linemen have such trouble flipping to the other side. Either way, we look to need a guard. I'd prefer Easton slot as the top backup.
  3. I'd separate them a bit: Draft priorities are OL, DL, and projects for WR and CB FA priorities are QB, OL, and maybe a guy like Sheldon Richardson.
  4. Jarius Wright is fine as your slot guy and third WR IMO. I'd like to see them take another guy in the 4th/5th round though. I think we need to be patient with Alexander. Yes, he was pretty bad most of the year, but in their third year CBs under Zimmer seem to take big leaps. But if Newman retires they should get some insurance there. They need to draft another pass rusher to rotate into the mix. Maybe add one in FA as well. They need a more dynamic 3 technique who can make plays. Remmers is ilkely our LG next year. So I think we'll need a new RG and RT. Maybe Easton is the RG, but that leaves the tackle spot open. And go get Cousins. Seriously - go big or go home at this point. Keenum isn't the guy, as nice as this run was.
  5. So you think, in this day and age of passing football, that two great players and two good players are sufficient to be the greatest of all time? That's just not realistic. I think you're really struggling for some clarity on a lot here and venting more out of emotion IMO. And the proof of that is sorta evident with your Sendejo remarks. We gave Sendejo a short deal for 4M a year. Which is what you pay "good" players. So yes, no one is going to break the bank for him. But he's a good player and he's being paid to reflect that. And yes, the Jags had a better pass defense this year. In part because people could gash them in the running game and they didn't have to pass on them.
  6. I also think we got badly outcoached. I like Mike Zimmer, but I do think that was the case last night.
  7. My god man. Do you hear yourself?
  8. They were second against the pass, second against the run, and had a 3rd down percentage not seen since the purple people eaters. I'm not sure what you want them to do to be a super bowl caliber defense? Sack someone the day before? Give up negative yardage? Something went really wrong the last 6 quarters, but that's an outlier relative to the rest of the season.
  9. By virtually every metric, in an era of offensive domination, we were historically good.
  10. I think you saw how much Sendejo mattered last week. When he went out, the secondary took a big step backward. You are way, way off in your evaluation of him. He's far exceed expectations and is an understated part of the pass defense. The defense needs a better 3 technique and to work on creating turnovers. But I'm more worried about the offense next year, we need a QB.
  11. I think there are changes to be made, but only one of your suggestions is one I'd agree with. Just to take them one at a time: Barr appears to "disappear" because he isn't making splash plays. Yeah, it'd be nice if he had more, but he is the guy (along with Kendricks) in charge of shutting down backs and tight ends. And the two of them were flat out amazing at that this year. Waynes was really good for one of the most targeted players in the NFL. But you are right that the teams needs more push on pass rushes up the middle. That is an area I hope they look at. After that I don't think there is an explanation for today but this: they were flat. They stunk. It unfortunately happens, even to the best.
  12. Hunter took a step back this season and that did surprise me. We have the money to go out and add to the offensive line and I'd be ok with that, but at this point I'd rather let Keenum, Bradford, and Teddy go and roll with a QB like Cousins. This is a SB caliber defense, the win-it-all move is to get the best available QB and go for it.
  13. Players can have bad games. They didnt play well at all, but over reactions to any one game are almost always mistaken.
  14. All of the points you made in support of your point involved the entire season, if you want to talk specific failures the last 6 quarters we can. Or we can use the entire season...which would you like to do? If it's the whole season, most of your post was just flat mistaken. If it was the last 6 quarters you could've saved 200 words and said "They all stunk"
  15. The team will have a lot of money to spend. I say go get Cousins.
  16. Barr has been a RB and TE neutralizer all year. Waynes has been good for most of the season. I don't know what happened the last 6 quarters, but the defense the first 16 games was absolutely elite, SB caliber.
  17. The pass rush completely disappeared. I have no explanation for that but that was putrid how much time they gave Foles.
  18. I think most of us expect Gordon to be far lower on that chart this time around after his second half last year.
  19. Rhino. Or whatever the reverse would be. Republicans are better at their slandering.
  20. Frankly, I simply dont see how we are in the conversation even. So maybe they like a couple players more than we, or the general scouting community, does. If so, we should be all over this. A Gordon/Romero centered deal is a heist. (If true, i have doubts it is anyone but Lewis and i doubt the new FO is dealing him)
  21. Republicans are openly stating that they have no clue what the President wants. Shutdown blame starts and stops right there. (And now Graham specifically blaming that little troll Stephen Miller)
  22. Do both. Especially if they inexplicably take Gordon as the centerpiece.
  23. Baseball is going to romanticize itself into oblivion. Some of these changes are of the same kind of necessity as switching from radio broadcasts to cable TV. At some point, the status of society, fan interest, and technology necessitates willingness to change.
  24. I suppose it depends on what you count as "action". Baseball might have a similarly paltry number if we only count the time that culminates an at-bat. It may also depend on how much you enjoy the between moments action. For me, I'm much more interested in watching the formations, substitutions, and pre-snap activity of a football game than I am with all the things pitchers, catchers, and hitters do between pitches. (Or even in watching many of the non-eventful pitching, which is why I think the "second screen" remark is apt for many) But I would bet if we took a poll from sports fans about the sports that are the most action packed vs. dull, baseball would overwhelmingly win the "dull" category. Which is a reality I think the league recognizes and actions like this are trying to fix.
