  1. Your post was clearly dismissive and mocking in tone. I don't appreciate it, it's unnecessary. So yes, I am not happy that you continue to use that kind of tone when the issue seems to stem from a lack of clarity from you. There was absolutely no need to phrase your response the way you did but to take a shot at LaBombo, myself, or Psuedo. I think many people have fairly tried to answer your questions, I don't think the tone of your responses is helpful to a discussion. Now that you clarify what you want it actually makes me more upset you've been so derisive in response - do you think there is some kind of magic bullet out there for hatred and racism? I mean, I'll be the first to admit that I don't have some grand, glorious strategy to remove hatred from the human heart. If that's your goal and anything but an obvious, perfect solution is going to get sarcastic responses....well then I'm out. I don't think there is an obvious, perfect solution. I find the issue of hatred and racism, unfortunately, a part of humanity. Has been forever. I find it hard to envision eradicating it even though I share your goal. So I can't possibly give you that clean, perfect answer you want. If that's my failing, so be it, I'll accept it. My answers to such a question will always be flawed and limited. I wonder who could do any differently?
  2. Last I checked, 30% still leaves 70% to vote another way. Help me if my math is wrong. You're asking two different questions it seems and causing a ton of confusion. (And then unfairly taking cheap shots) Do you want to talk about what we do with 30% of the country being immoral/racist/*******s or do you want to talk about how to change the way America operates through policies and elections? At various times you seem to want one or the other and then mistreat the responses you get by pulling the rug out from the conversation. So terms like "fixing problems" is vague and not helpful to the discussion. Perhaps you should ask clearer questions if you'd like better answers.
  3. I'll have to dig through your posts, but I feel like I've read that sort of terminology. So here's what I've heard you say: "Prepare for every eventuality" What does that mean, if not rotating a lot of players to alternate positions?
  4. Yes, I'm just pointing out the delta between 25th and 5th may not be all that significant.
  5. Where I start to doubt that is where someone suggests Rosario playing 3B is equivalent to Polanco playing SS. Saying one is just as doable as the other blurs the line a lot IMO. Or to imply that the risk of defensive liabilities are the same, doesn't sit well with me. It shows very little discretion/care between what kind of skill sets are vital at each position, player experience there, etc. Flexibility, to me, is a tool you use to enhance your roster. But it's not going to be a fit for many players, maybe even most. RB talks a lot about every guy having multiple gloves and reps at multiple positions. I just don't see how you envision a scenario like that in which you aren't advocating players at positions they aren't good at. And then name-dropping Polanco as a below average shortstop as being the same thing as tossing Rosario at third....makes me think my gut reaction is right. What he is asserting IS ok with players ill equipped to man the position.
  6. I think it's really hard to judge that game. Those two turnovers single-handedly lost it for us. Especially the Thielen one, that took a 16-10 or 20-10 game and completely flipped it around. I'll say it again - the vast majority of teams have terrible offensive lines. I thought Cousins had time to make plays most of the night and the running game was working well. This team should've been up 20-10 at the half and getting the ball. That's where this game turned. Turnovers can do that to teams, though I wish they would've had more fight coming out of half time and scoring rather than that stupid fourth down play.
  7. That's one damn fine paragraph right there.
  8. My work in Chicago did this for me. I don't think people, even those that vote to help blacks in this country, truly have any idea of the scope of the desperation. To live it is eye-opening in ways I wasn't prepared for. So I hear ya. It's a hard thing to reconcile, to have such a different lived experience in approximately the same place.
  9. My god man. Just stop. The Dems are terrible at turning out the vote. This is a demonstrable fact. Changing it will change the course of the country.
  10. I almost never see you throw in the caveat that the players have to be able to play the position well. You seem to prize flexibility over ability. I see flexibility as an asset to be sought, not a strategy to force. Sometimes it does feel like you advocate the latter.
  11. One is a position the player has barely ever played and a major change in style (OF-IF) and the other is a position the player frequently played in the minors and is only slightly different. We've seen the ability players have to completely trainwreck games and seasons by being inadequate in the field. Whatever offensive advantage you gain from putting players into a game at different positions can easily be negated by their inability to play those positions. Otherwise....why not field 9 slugging 1B? Just sign nine guys that mash the ball and throw a dart every game? You might say, "of course I don't want that"...but I don't see much of any indication in your posts that you weigh this factor at all.
  12. I wish he'd throw it away a bit more. The near-fumble when the ball was yanked from him was very nearly a terrible play too.
  13. It's a far cry to justify playing Rosario at 3B by comparing it to Polanco playing SS.
  14. Man that Thielen fumble is a back breaker. He doesn't fumble much, but when he does it feels like a back-breaker. (The one last year with Detroit was huge)
  15. You are correct, I just meant it would make it even more impressive.
  16. With the injuries, this would be a good win.
  17. At this point....how long has it been since the NL was even close to the same caliber as the AL? I know they win WS (small sample size), but overall.....aren't we showing again why there is quite a disparity between the leagues right now? I'm not sure, in terms of talent, I'd favor any NL team over even the Oakland A's much less the Yanks, Sox, Astros, Indians, etc.
  18. If he does get a major league deal, I don't think the terms will be great. He looks cooked.
  19. Has the right started spinning this tragedy yet? Guy had some semi-disparaging remarks about Trump. Probably will be saying Soros hired him as part of his continually nefarious schemes.
  20. I like this!
  21. I do think it would've happened with or without Trump. Just like I think a Trump-like candidate was inevitable even if Trump lost. I think your second paragraph completely ignored most of what I said, so I won't directly respond to it. The right is to blame (not exclusively, but much more so) for the discord in our society. It's the seeds that have been sown for a long time by the right that lead to this guy and to Trump IMO. I don't know how the left combats that discord. I don't know how independents combat that. I really don't. I'm not sure fighting fire with fire helps or if ignoring it helps (I'm not sure that's possible) or if fighting fire with love. I honestly don't know. I'm just stating my opinion that his actions are a reflection on a long-term problem that has slowly been building. I'd like to hope we've hit the crescendo, but I'm not certain of that either.
  22. At the very least Morgan needs lots of playing time. I read Tracy Claeys say Seth Green would be his QB this year....did that man ever see him throw? How was he ever a QB for anyone? Nice win, need 2 more of them this year.
  23. My satellite feed went out and that's when I stopped! Sounds like it was a good game, not sure it changes the outcome here. Boston looks pretty unbeatable right now.
  24. I didn't mean to give off the idea that there was extremism on both sides in the sense of violence, more that hate towards the other side is pretty high on both sides. This bomber and Trump are symptoms of that. On the right, however, it manifests in a more ugly and violent way. I won't (and can't, it's a fact) disagree with it - the left is not as violent. But there is some dangerous level of, maybe hate isn't the right word....discord?....between people. I've said before that the right operates more out of fear and they generally always have. The people they woo to their voting bloc are more prone to fear (older populations, less culturally diverse populations) so it plays well. I was simply saying I wouldn't blame Trump for this. I don't think that's the correct takeaway. But I do blame right-wing media and propagandists over the last several decades. Not only for this bomber, but for Trump himself.
