  1. If you could lock in Bryant, I'd trade for him in a heartbeat.
  2. You would think with all the money we pour into the military we could spend a little less of it on the industrial complex and a little more in helping our soldiers with PTSD. Not saying htis is the cause, but if we're going to point to mental health (rarely accurate IMO) after these shootings, the least we could do is focus on the specific disorder that seems to be present and how we could help it. In this case, why can't we get bi-partisan support for thorough care for our veterans who have suffered from PTSD? That seems...easy? Right?
  3. I think they've just quietly stopped enforcing it that way. Though every week it seems like a pass rusher pulls up to avoid a flag to get burned by the QB. Which is maybe what bothers me more than anything.
  4. And to add to this....these voters are also in some of the most tightly contested states with the most electoral votes. So....there is a ton of upside in at least trying.
  5. Can we change the thread topic to General NFL Tidbits or something? (Nothing wrong with anything anyone said, I just posted my thing about Peters because it feels like we need a thread for general conversations)
  6. Perhaps hearing how bad they were, plus an alternative, would sway them? I just think playing to that issue is a foot in the door with a lot of people who were blue voters not that long ago.
  7. His Winshares were trending in the right direction. I'm not a basketball analytics expert, but prior to last year things were not so dire with him. And you're right, Butler doesn't present him from playing defense, but could Butler being defending the players Wiggins is better suited to defend? To me, I see Butler and Wiggins as roughly similar in terms of size/build. It seems to me both of them would be better suited playing with a SF who is a long, athletic defender and they match-up better against SGs. But, like you, I'm not a basketball expert. I just question how much of a coincidence it is he's fallen off a cliff the moment Butler arrived. Towns also has had some of the luster wear off.
  8. Since I'm not in the upper Midwest I'm curious....did the Dems run ads about Trump's horrible tariff policies and the impact on farms? That seemed like easy money.
  9. Seems like the best spot for this. Andy Reid is working some impressive stuff this year, but nothing might top the miracle he pulled keeping that idiot in check and playing well. His stuff with the LA media this week is worth a google too.
  10. Authentic can cut through a lot of noise. She seems to have that - glad she won!
  11. Don't you think he was at least trending in the right direction years 2-3? I agree, the potential seems to have evaporated, but I don't think it's coincidence that the team added a ball-hog that altered where and how he played on the court.
  12. The NBA forces teams into some rough choices. I don't entirely blame the Wolves. And I put some blame on Butler. He is a ball hog who simply did not fit with Towns and Wiggins. He has been the problem from day 1.
  13. I'd suggest that your calculus is always based on geography in politics.
  14. I agree Mike. And add in Immigration cruelty. Those would be 1 and 2 on my list right now. I think there are economic issues to tackle also, but with the economy doing this well it's probably not a winning message.
  15. True, I should be clearer....it's not how right or left the Democrats run. Sometimes you hear things like "Well, if they only further embraced left-wing ideas!" That's not the kind of thinking necessary. You may end up with some further left ideas in order to propose policies and issues that will win the upper midwest. That may mean moving left, it may mean moving center. It's about the issue and the messaging, not about the poles of the political spectrum.
  16. Agreed. It's the path I've talked about. You won't win more electoral votes going further left as your basic strategy. You'll win on issues that win in the rural Midwest. Flip Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania and all the southern hicks in the country won't matter. And it's VERY doable. Hell, it took total incompetence to lose those three states by a combined 4%. The picture isn't that bleak on the Presidential front. The bleak area has always been at hte state and local level and this election provided some real hope there. I'm encouraged.
  17. Zunino and Heredia for Mallex Smith. Seattle has a lot of speed on their roster.
  18. What kind of upside do you see with Suarez? Just from a glance at his stats, he doesn't appear to be much more than a middling starter.
  19. There are risks with every player. Much like flexibility is RB's mantra, mine is "Invest in Upside" Daniel Murphy is the milquetoast of 1B options and Morton is the same for SP. I doubt Milwaukee was thrilled to give 1B to Jesus Aguilar....but how'd that turn out? Hell, the Twins weren't bending over backwards to give Escobar or Dozier chances and look how that turned out. When you have an opening, I'd much rather invest that opportunity into a player that might make a big impact rather than a serviceable place-holder. My blueprint is filled with upside - Sano, Buxton, Gallo, Dozier, Austidillo, Sonny Gray, Cody Allen, etc. That also means the downside is larger, but I'm cool with that. I'm done being safe with signings, I'd rather miss or hit big.
  20. Interesting. I wonder if Dem control of the House escalates all of this.
  21. Six state legislatures too. I am willing to make that trade.
  22. I wanted Cruz gone, but I'll take this as a consolation prize.
  23. Fair points, but I think there is still room for Gallo to find that mega-stud he was once thought to be. (His prospect rankings were Buxton-like) He's young with a ton of team control. I think there is still a diamond there to be mined. I'm gambling on upside.
  24. Honestly, this feels too Terry Ryan-ish to me. People may not like my blueprint, but I went for upside. Morton and Murphy are floor-focused acquisitions. I want ceiling-focused.
  25. I think Gordon is if Lowrie isn't signed. But he'll cost a LOT more than Hildy and Arraez. I like Kelly and Allen.
