  1. Reading Psuedo makes me convinced I should start accepting four more years of Trump. Or moving to New Zealand. They seem like fun folks.
  2. Nick, are you suggesting that the TE position is being used less like an offensive weapon than the past? I feel like that's what I'm reading and it perplexes me.
  3. There was magic. Though it seems odd how much Melisandre really impacted the battle other than telling Arya her destiny.
  4. Could be financial too. They're already running up record budgets for this and we know they've had to cut some elements because of that. (I took that as an implication from you post, but thought it worth spelling out)
  5. Marvel has certainly earned trust in that respect. As I said, I love the catalog of people that come with the FF4, they open possibilities both on earth and in the cosmic realm.
  6. There are offenses that use the TE very effectively as a middle to downfield threat. Kelce, Kittle, Gronk, and even in Washington with Cousins. I think we're just used to how limited Rudolph is that we see the TE as a check down. Smith offers more than that, which is why I'm excited. I'm with you on when they took a RB. Only two backs were worth a third or higher IMO and both were already gone. I trust these Denver guys and the guy they took is a one-cut, zone blocking type back. But I think they overdrafted him. At that pick I would've much preferred Vosean Joseph or Amani Hooker, guys that could hvae been high upside projects for us. So they better be right on him or that will be a knock on this draft class.
  7. I think the show knows it can't keep everyone on the cast long enough to do the ending justice so things are a bit rushed. 8 years out of a fantasy show is far more than most can ever muster. I wonder if they just ran out of time to do those elements justice. Or maybe they (wrongly) thought they were.
  8. It'd be hard to disagree with you. But I think Euron is a giant red herring. I think he's going to amount to squat in the end. Then again, I'm not sure Martin can get to his end. I think he's made it impossible and I don't just mean for him personally. I'm not sure anyone can finish his story he's lost it so much.
  9. Namor is going to be a big character they have back now too. And there is a lot of animosity with Wakanda to build from. I would love to see what Marvel does with Surfer and Galactus, but damn is Galactus hard to imagine working in a film.
  10. The Sam Wilson (Cap) and Bucky show already has me very intrigued. I hope Aaron Mackie gets a long run as Cap, he's perfect for that character and to handle that ascension to Captain America.
  11. His story is so entwined with the Night King I don't see how that's possible. I agree with Mike, the show seems to struggle with the fantasy aspects of the story. But I also think part of that struggle is that Martin put so many fantasy red herrings in the novel that trying to wedge them all in and keep them meaningful is basically impossible. In a novel a pointless thread can be an irritant but not ruin the story, in a TV show every thread needs purpose. Going into this season I worried about the purpose of two characters: Arya and Bran. Both of them seemed to have spent considerable time training for a role I was unsure would ever matter. For Arya, we saw a payoff. Bran? He's the glue that pulls a few things together but he's far, far from pivotal.
  12. I can understand that, but too much money to be made in bringing them in. The streaming service opens up a lot of possibilities.
  13. I don't think so. Maybe a bit more robust, but this is his ending.
  14. I really only liked X2 and even that had plenty of problems. FF were drags to me, but through their stories they introduce some of the best characters. So in that sense, I do hope they get good treatment.
  15. Yeah, Bran being a total non-factor leaves me wondering what his purpose is. And if you're a book reader....holy crap what a lot of wasted time.
  16. I guess I'm.....underwhelmed? It didn't resonate with me like Hardhome of the Battle of the Bastards. I'm going to rewatch tonight and see if that changes. I do think it's safe to say this is Martin's plan. So many of the early call-backs were leading here, but there was something too easy about how Arya took down the Night King. Certainly that is the plan, there is poetic justice in the knife that was going to be used to kill Bran coming to his rescue in the key moment. And this does give justice to all of Arya's travels. Still.....something not right for me. Here are some of my initial less positive thoughts: 1) Given the way the dead overwhelmed the castle it's hard for me to believe so many characters survived. 2) Why was Bran warging so crucial only to not show up as important in the end? 3) The crypt terror was one everyone saw coming but it seemed glossed over. It happened so late in the fight it didn't see to be all that impactful. 4) Why send the Khalasaar in solo without air cover?
  17. See, that's where we divide on opinion. I don't think the X-men have been done well. And I've never much loved the Fantastic Four. But in the hands of this production company? Everything they touch is gold.
  18. Actually I'm going with The Beyonder and Secret Wars leading to the Skrull invasion.
  19. Please Disney, I beg you....let them direct X-men when the time comes. Also, it bears saying, Tom Holland is a perfect Spiderman. So where do we go from here? Eternals sounds like the kickoff to the next phase....are we building to Doom?
  20. Yeah, put me in the camp that loved it for Rogers. It was what he wanted. This was closure for Stark and Rogers - Stark proved he was more than the selfish egoist. He could be the man that would lay his life down for others. I thought it was handled perfectly. For Rogers, he only ever wanted to be happy and do the right thing. I'd stay in the 1940s for Haley Atwell too, FWIW. I emotionally popped so many times in this movie. Heart wrenching to be a father and feel what Hawkeye did in the beginning. Heartwrenching to watch him lose someone he loved in Widow. Antman's genuine fear for his daughter and lose of Hope. Rocket and Nebula (holy **** has Nebula come a long way!). Thor playing fortnite with the Ragnarok crew. Iron Man with his daughter. All the subtle stuff on the time travel too! Cap vs. Cap (America's Ass indeed), Hail Hydra, Hulk and the stairs, etc. But when Cap takes his shield and Mjolnir and goes 1:1 with Thanos....I don't think a movie has ever emotionally charged me like those couple minutes. And then "Cap...on your left" and everyone getting a moment to show up and kick some ass? Damn. Just...damn. I know the Marvel formula is nothing new, but they have perfected how to weave a narrative over many movies and do fan service without being Michael Bay cheesy. It's amazing. It's the greatest franchise in film history. It had my wife in tears and it damn near got me too.
  21. And my point was doing that in real games tends to have significant consequences, including injuries.
  22. I'm glad you've come around since our off-season discussion. Playing players at a lesser position has real consequences. Flexibility is awesome, but smart flexibility is awesomer.
  23. Last year Boston went 16-3 against Baltimore, 15-4 against Toronto, and 11-2 against the Royals/Tigers. Take that record (42-9) out of their overall record and they went 66-45. Still a good team, clearly, but not as gawdy. So, yeah, pound the bad teams.
  24. They got solid value with Bradbury and he will step in day one and make this line much better. Dru Samia is a really interesting player and could be perfect for the scheme. Udoh is one helluva physical prospect at tackle too. Irv Smith could make or break this draft IMO. It's solid, not spectacular, unless those first two picks become studs. I was surprised there were no pass rushers taken to groom.
