  1. Going with your gut is fine, I get that. People citing the schedule have very clearly not looked at the context of that claim, that's what I'm pointing out. Frankly, the sample is too small to draw much of any conclusions. I only feel confident in mine: they've done pretty damn well through 20% of the season all things considered.
  2. It's too early for me to draw that conclusion. This team is young and has had superstars hurt. I'm not ready to draw conclusions...I'm taking issue with the assertions being made and the reasoning for it. If you didn't want to put so much emphasis on the schedule you...shouldn't have put so much emphasis...on the schedule?
  3. The Twins are a bad team because they don't have all sorts of injured players including their two superstars. Since we have less injuries than them, we're actually worse than them so we beat a team better than us! Logic! Stacking the deck of an argument makes it so easy!
  4. If the measure for every AL team is their schedule than the conclusion has to be that virtually no one in the AL or NL is for real. The Yankees, Dodgers, Twins, Brewers, Rays, Cardinals, Padres, and several others are also "not for real". The Mets, Angels, Astros, and Giants have had "meh" schedules. So not for real too? The Blue Jays and....(checks to be certain)...the Arizona Diamondbacks are the teams who are for real this year. Or....maybe in a small sample like that using the schedule as such a major part of the argument is a flawed methodology.
  5. The Twins were playing like garbage going into the ChiSox series as well. The White Sox ARE a good team, playing the "how were they playing when we played them" game because an unwinnable condition for anyone that complicates everything.
  6. Please correct me if I'm wrong because I don't get to watch a lot of full games.....but it sure seems to me that they are running more than last year? Or is that just because "more" than "never" is a pretty low bar?
  7. They beat Tampa 2 out of 3 and helped bury the ChiSox. They didn't fare well against the Dodgers but there were a lot of weird circumstances there too. Basically, they can only play who they play. This is what the AL is....a couple challenges and mostly cupcakes. This team is winning while missing Correa, Buxton, Arraez, Sano, Bundy, Gray, Ober, Kiriloff, Alcala etc. I don't know if they're for real, but it's real that they have done one helluva job 20% of the way in with the circumstances.
  8. This article deserves serious promotion. Well done.
  9. I'm old enough to remember when "Austin Martin" was spelled "Royce Lewis" in this cut and paste article...
  10. Picard Season 2 is not just the worst Star Trek season ever, it might be the worst ten episodes of anything I have ever watched. How do you screw up the Borg and Q with a nonsensical, plodding story?
  11. Agreed, I liken it to Falcon/WS....there are many parts to like but it didn't come together, especially in the end.
  12. Absolutely none. Don't cut him but Paddock, Ryan, Winder, Ober, and Gray are our best arms. Anyone else takes a seat.
  13. I hope it's a great solution....Until you realize piracy is free and way more ethical than giving Sinclair money!
  14. A hardcore baseball site and the majority of the people posting are rejecting this on the basis of A) way too expensive as a streaming option B ) Sinclair is an awful company with no trust and good will C) Pirating is free. I'll say it here like I'm saying in the other thread: this will appeal to a very small subset of fans. It is yet another needlessly complicated way to access the game. The only thing MLB is good at is turning "How do I watch my favorite team: into this:
  15. Seems like having Miranda/Urshela/Arraez cover 1B and 3B is working quite splendidly. I like Sano, but this situation is peachy.
  16. Winder's stuff looked really good. That kid has a chance to be something special.
  17. Hey...remember when you complained we traded Cruz for prospects? Good times.
  18. I agree with you that the decision should be made on the basis of "Larnach needs to play nearly every day". I'm on the record of being in favor of riding things with Sano, but if the team thinks they're better with Larnach at DH and Kiriloff at 1B....so be it. I mean, at this point, Kepler should also be on watch.
  19. This. The defense will always hurt his value, but honestly....are some of you watching the same Sano that I am? He's spitting on those outside slider/breaking balls more often than ever, he's working counts, and he's stinging the **** out of the ball. That's a much better Sano than we've seen, he's just not having much luck. Giving up on him (and for what?) makes no sense in that context.
  20. All you can ask players to do is take the right approach, improve the approach if it isn't working, and hope the results reward the process. No one, not with advanced stats, eye test, or anything else in the history of baseball is going to bad mouth a player who is stinging the ball all over and just having bad luck. The advanced stats aren't perfect, they just try to identify players that are doing things right, even if the results haven't shown it yet. Or, vice versa, guys who have results that look unsustainable. Reality often vindicates those conclusions over time. Some of the posts in this thread to the contrary....woof. If you don't understand it, just ignore it and steer clear of it. Opening your mouth to admit just how poorly you understand it is a bad look.
  21. Nice win, Buxton can't keep doing it by himself but hopefully Kep, Correa, Sano, and the rest of the crew start heating up.
  22. My god....that is one of the worst Minnesota playoff losses ever. And I know that's a high bar.
