  1. Torn ligament in the shoulder. That does sound horrible.
  2. I would take Stewart and Meyer over Appel and nobody.
  3. We agree on many things but this is a terrible analysis. I don't care if Guerrero can't stick at SS. If he is a legit MLB player then this would be a great move. I wouldn't care if the Twins signed a Cuban OF'er (Alvarez). This team needs to add talent to the roster and worry about where to play them later. If Rosario truly ended up blocked by Guerrero then he would be a very attractive trade piece that could net the Twins a decent pitcher. And the scouting reports only say that he probably won't stick at SS. The same scouting reports said that Rosario and Sano might not stick at 2B/3B.
  4. Not surprisingly worley is injured. I don't think he was ever alright after his relatively minor offseason surgery.
  5. You still aren't close to half and that is including guys in the majors. Cole/Taillon - one is not a prospect Bundy/Gausman - I don't care if bundy is injured - he's good Gray/Butler - Butler is closer to Berrios imo Bradley/Skaggs Walker/Hultzen Wacha/Martinez Wheeler/Syndergaard - one is not a prospect Appel/McCullers - mcculllers is again closer to Berrios imo Barnes/Ball - one more to help you
  6. Ugh... Buxton's other tools are probably all in the 55-70 range while the rest of Turner's probably top out at 55 (or maybe 60). Sounds more like Billy Hamilton imo. Not what I'm looking for in the probable top 5.
  7. I think the Twins pitching prospects rank higher than a lot of people give them credit for. Not many teams have a 1/2 of Stewart/Meyer. Even the depth has been improving lately.

    Arcia

Are you just being argumentative? 2 yrs of rk ball and 2 injury plagued years covering low A to AAA while being promoted to the majors at age 21. That is moving fast according to almost every organization.
  9. You lose all hindsight credibility if you think there was non-zero chance of the Twins taking Lee. Other teams wanted Wimmers and he would have been taken in the first rd. Sickels considered it a good pick as did most at the time. It was boring that but that doesn't mean it was a bad pick. 2010 MLB Draft Grades, Part 2: Cubs, Yankees, Mets Get Day One Thumbs Down - SBNation.com

    Arcia

I'm not sure why everyone thinks that Arcia is finished with the minors. He was promoted quickly through the minors and he does have some bad habits that are holding back his raw skill. But Cletus shouldn't be playing everyday... Hicks has actually been halfway decent (if you factor in CF defense) in May, June, and July. Not great but not nearly as bad as some are making it sound.
  11. Iglesias has a nice glove but he sucks at hitting. I think he will hit more like his 900 PA's in AAA than his 200+ PA's in the majors. What was Chi doing here? Giving Peavy away for some MiLB scraps.
  12. It's tough to hate the Wimmers pick except in hindsight. Perhaps you weren't as excited about it as others but draft picks in the 20's usually come with big question marks. Taking a safer guy at that point is not terrible. Taking a Wimmers type in the top 10 or even top 5 would be infuriating though.
  13. Comparing minor league stats of prospects and elite players is fun but pretty much pointless. Elite players are the exception in baseball.
  14. Rosario is nothing like Carew. Rosario is more of a Todd walker type. Revere had a similar offensive game to Carew.
  15. The more likely target on the Orioles is Jonathon Schoop. He has been promoted aggressively so his numbers are all over the place but he has the raw talent to 2B/SS/3B. On the O's he's never going to be a SS (Hardy and Machado) but on the Twins he could stick there possibly.
  16. David Robertson says Hi. Any combination of players similar to Danry Vazquez is an unacceptable return for Perkins.
  17. And they are usually talking about 30 somethings signing 50+M contracts. Cespedes was more like a really expensive prospect. At the time Cespedes was mostly dismissed around here since the Twins are loaded with OF'ers. I had a bias against Cubans at the time but Cespedes and Puig have been awesome so far. I would trade Perkins for Bundy in a heartbeat. I would not even think twice about. TJ is really successful nowadays and I can wait 2 years for another potential front line starter mixed in with Stewart and Meyer. One of them might reach their potential.
  18. The board is acting like he wasn't aggressive nor creative last offseason. I would consider that both aggressive and creative.
  19. I really don't find myself loving Trea Turner. Perhaps I'm just weary of players whose top tool is speed though.
  20. His K:BB ratio is awful. We don't have cool data like pitchFX but K:BB tells us that he is probably chasing a lot of pitches and/or having trouble making contact even with strikes. He has shown improvement which is encouraging but he is already striking out a lot against pitchers that don't have a quality breaking ball/fastball combo. That won't be true as he moves up to A+/AA ball and definitely not in the majors. I'm definitely not comparing MLB K rates to low minors K rates. Most MLB'ers with high K rates didn't start having problems until high minors or MLB pitchers found the holes in their swing. You are focused too much on K rates for comparable MiLB players. Goodrum (whom I don't like much), Kepler and harrison are all younger and all of them walk twice as much. And the K's are still a red flag for all 3 of them although not as big of an issue.
  21. We are and were in agreement.
  22. There's a difference between being critical of the MLB team and being critical of spending big money to build up a farm system. As a matter of fact if Cubs fans should be critical of anything it should be of the ignore the farm system strategy that was used for so many years that put them into this hole.
  23. I don't think the Twins landed a top 30 int'l prospect until the year they signed Sano. Thankfully they have changed their strategy on that because they developed very few Latin prospects in the last two decades (that they signed). There have been some like Guzman and Rivas a decade ago and Arcia and Ramos (all low bonus guys I'm pretty sure) recently. Out of your list Polanco and Jorge were fringy top 30 guys. Kepler was about the same. Minier was a top 30 guy easily while Thorpe and Miguel Gonzalez were outside of the top 30 but signed for at least 500K IIRC.
  24. Right now Walker is a very interesting flyer in the system. You can focus on his production all you want but the poor plate discipline is going to lead to some big issues as he moves up in the minors and possibly as far as the majors.
  25. As opposed to what guys like Buehrle, Wilson and Jackson have signed for?
