    The Royals-A's bad blood is getting interesting. All over a routine slide that is not dirty in any way, but apparently the Royals have some fight in them this year for some reason as they've already been involved in about five incidents on the field this year.

    Get rid of one of Robinson. He serves no purpose. Santana can back up CF just fine. Or get rid of Hermann. He serves no purpose on any team in that he can't hit or field. His versatility is overrated as he doesn't play any position well. He is pretty much like Parmelee except he can supposedly catch. At least Nunez can hit and run.

    Let's also not forget that Ryan is the one that walked out on the job and left Smith to deal with the Johan, Hunter, and Mauer situations. That is a terrible place for a new guy, particularly someone with no GMing experience to have to start.

    My first game: 07/30/91 vs Detroit Junior Ortiz tripled. I thought Rob Deer did too, but apparently not after looking the game up. I remember how excited I was that four guys in the game had my first name- Erickson, Leius, Aldred, and Livingstone.

    I like that Cleveland damn near had two pitchers go over 100 pitches. I wonder what it would take in today's game to have a relief pitcher throw 100 pitches.

    Smith actually acquired players to help the Twins win rather than always trading for the future. Pavano, Cabrera, Fuentes, Rauch were all keys in making the postseason. Signing Hudson, Thome, and acquiring Hardy were good moves. I think he was backed into a corner by Ryan up and quitting on the Hunter and Santana deals. Trading Garza and Bartlett for Young didn't work out but Young was the type of young hitter everyone had been clamoring about forever. It's a shame it didn't work out. In the end the only thing I really blame him for is Ramos for Capps and really that doesn't make that big a difference as Ramos has not exactly been the second coming of Johnny Bench.
