  1. Mauer has clearly taken him under his wing. Who says he isn't a leader?
  2. Buehrle is exactly the guy I'm sure Ryan would acquire. A guy who pitches innings and gives up tons of hits.
  3. I almost had a meltdown until I realized it was Pino and not Pinto.
  4. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/nationals-journal/wp/2014/10/06/matt-lecroy-will-eat-his-superstitious-banana-mayo-sandwich-before-nlds-game-3/
  5. And yet Fox1 has missed 90 percent of first pitches of the inning this postseason. It's beyond annoying and just bad tv.
  6. If Mientkiewicz becomes manager, do we have a replay of last season with aging ex-Twins coming in? I'm sure Dougie would like to bring in his boys Torii, A.J., and LaTroy. Although to be fair they would almost assuredly be better than Bartlett, Kubel, and Guerrier.
  7. Jon Garland, Joe Blanton, Joe Saunders, or all of the above?
  8. Why would a manager put butts in the seat anyway? I didn't go to Twins games to watch Gardy eat sunflower seeds.
  9. It is my opinion, and there is probably nothing that will ever change it, that Ryan left after 2007 because he didn't want to be known as the guy that traded Santana, didn't resign Hunter, and couldn't bring himself to give Mauer a huge contract. I think he left Smith in a horrible position when he took over. And then after the disastrous 2011 season, Ryan comes riding in on his white horse to "clean up" the mess that he partially created.
  10. It was never funny but still true.
  11. And I'm sure your criticism is heightened by the plethora of sac bunts.
  12. KC with their 2014 first rounder pitching in a play-in game. He'd be five years away with the Twins.
  13. AS much as I hated pulling Shields Iove all the running KC is doing.. Stealing third just got them a run!
  14. It didn't turn out the way we'd like but I'd also add the game in 2008 where Casilla walked off Jenks after Span's ear-splitting triple to score Gomez.
  15. Unfortunately for the Royals they have Ned Yost as their manager who takes our their supposed ace after a broken bat single and a walk to bring in a lesser pitcher and not one of his supposed three headed bullpen monster. There was no reason for anyone other than Shields, Herrera, Davis, or Holland to pitch in this game unless Shields got completely lit up in the first five innings.
  16. To me Gardenhire's worst move was taking Santana out in Game 4 with a low pitch count after five innings. A close second is his over-managing with his bullpen. There is never a need to burn four relievers in an inning. Honestly, I thought he got progressively worse (or perhaps just let everyone pass him up). In 2002 he made the right moves in leading off Jones and naming Guardado closer. The reluctance to use Santana in the rotation was baffling. Bringing Brian Bass into the eight inning of a tie game is beyond stupid. Batting Brendan Harris second on a consistent basis is awful. Having Guerrier face A-rod countless times despite complete ownage is ridiculous. I can't even really comment on the last four years as there was really nothing he could do with this lineup.
  17. He will return to the team in a different capacity- I'm thinking Tail Battlin' Instructor.
  18. Until baseball starts handing out postseason berths based on run differential I will continue to base the success of the team on W-L. That said, this team is in a better position than it has been the past three off-seasons. We found three young position players and a young pitcher that should be around for awhile, with our two studs yet to arrive. The pitching staff is still mostly unwatchable but there's definitely progress being made. The real excitement is when this team's improvement isn't by a few games but suddenly jumps 15-20.
  19. Now is the time to turn on one, Joe.
  20. Why would you bring Fat Joba in?
  21. Ausmus got burned by leaving Price out there last time out. We will get to Detroit's bullpen.
  22. Price at 109 pitches? Does he come out for the eighth?
  23. Rod Allen on Hicks' catch: "That's why they love him!" He must not follow Twins baseball.
  24. If it was the entire reason replay was implemented then why wasn't it reviewable? The game was delayed for six or seven minutes while NY told the umpires it wasn't a reviewable play. The only reason they got it right was because the umpires watched Crown Vision at Kauffman.
  25. Dick: "The Twins have had the benefit of being able to give guys like Thielbar and Duensing that extra day of rest between outings. If you're a team in the race like Cleveland you don't have that luxury." That is the damn dumbest thing I've ever heard.
