  1. One big thing is missing here: Anabolic steroids is a schedule III controlled substance in the US. Possession is a federal crime with a penalty up to 1 year in prison. Distribution has penalties up to 10 years. So, in addition to breaking baseball rules, these guys are breaking the law. I just wish that the Feds are starting enforcing that a bit harder, making use = possession and start putting people in jail.
  2. Unlike Dee Gordon, those 3 were never caught using. Hank Aaron used PEDs as well (greenies) plus a whole other slew of athletes, including the Twins' current manager, if one wants to throw names. The difference is that they were not illegal then. They are now. If you want to play baseball, you better not use. That simple. Some players still use and they risk it. So be it.
  3. Looks like the Twins might have a buyer for Dozier right now
  4. I think that the assumptions that: a. Perkins will return and b. Perkins will be better than Jepsen (or better than Perkins has been lately) are way too optimistic. Matter of fact, the Twins should have Perkins in Fort Myers or some other nice and warm place until his FB hits 95 and his slider hits 85 again, before they bring him up to the team. As far as who should replace Jepsen goes, I'd rather see the Twins bring up Chargois now for one of Fien/Tonkin, Burdi when he is 100% for the other, quit the Duffey as a starter experiment and have those 3 fight out for the closer position with May. I'd rather give the ball to any of those guys than Jepsen (or the ghost of Perkins' past) any time.
  5. In case you did not know, Thurman Munson, a multiple All-Star player and projected Hall of Famer, died at age 32 when he crash-landed his private plane. Tacky comment to say at least. /over and out
  6. Hope that this moves DJ Hicks and Trey Vavra a step up. They have been too old for their leagues for a while now. (and as soon as I post that, the Red Wings are starting Beresford at first tonight.) I just hope they star moving players up instead of getting 30 something never have beens from the wave wire
  7. Wheeler has pitched in AAA both of last seasons but was lost in the numbers' game (and just got promoted), Bexendale's season in AA is his third, Slegers' and Hurlbut's their second. Lots of options. Pitchers are repeating high A and A and there has been some dissatisfaction on the subject, especially at Cedar Rapids this season. Got to let the kids move up. Albers is a has-never-been... PJ Walters next I bet...
  8. Andrew Albers. Fresh from the Lancaster Barnstormers. Cannot make it up.
  9. Not that easy Berrios' rankings peaked this season. He was ranked 28th overall @BA, 16th @MLB.com, and 17th @BP. This is a great scouting report by Bernie Pleskoff who indicates his upside as a #2 or #3 in a competitive team (and also, unlike this write up, indicates some clear weaknesses - heck he is 22, he better have weaknesses). Rewind a bit: Alex Meyer's peaks: #14 BP (2015), #28 mlb.com (2014) and #45 BA (2014) and arguably against bigger competition. Meyer is the only Twins' prospect with stuff that can make him be a true #1 in a competitive team. Likelihood is a different story. The likelihood that Berrios will be a #2 or #3 is higher than Meyer will be a #1. But this does not make him a better prospect. Regardless, I hope that he has a great long career with the Twins
  10. And they might hit it at the Kirby Puckett bar thing
  11. If I were Molitor, I'd let Duffey and May close every other day each, until one of them wins it. I'd rather see Hughes do it, because he has proven that he can, but would hate to yank him off the rotation the way he has been pitching lately...
  12. FTFY
  13. Not really. Missing an important data point: .209/.300/.294 Twins' slash line with men on. Which means that the opposing pitchers do not give home run hitters fat pitches to hit when men on bases, and they are throwing junk instead and the Twins' hitters bite.
  14. So you want to get rid of the Twins' best 2 starters so far. That's the key to winning...
  15. Really? Other than Milone, and a couple bad starts from Gibson, I don't know what team is Ryan talking about. Delusional.
  16. This team is: 1-10 Road 5-4 Home I think that those are more meaningful splits than the 0-9 and 6-5 Last season's team had a better home record as well (46-35 vs 37-44) The key would be to sweep a few home series (hopefully against AL Central) and quit going belly up on the road (esp. against AL Central.)
  17. 22 seasons it is not early
  18. In 22 seasons since 1994, they won exactly as many post-season series as Houston did last season. Houston had one season after their rebuilding. Ryan (and the Ryan build FO during his retirement) had 22. Also Houston has been in the World Series in 2005 and won a post-season series in 2004.
  19. Do you realize that Arcia is younger than every single pitcher the Twins trotted out there this season? I Duffy is "part of the future", there is no way Arcia should not be. He is 25. Has a good 5+ seasons ahead of him
  20. Last time I checked, Houston: a. made it to the post-season b. won a post-season series c. lost to the eventual world champions. I'd take that from the Twins for 2015
  21. To blow it up, you really need to blow it up starting with the front office. Ryan has proven that he does not understand the concept of rebuilding (see: Royals and Astros and Pirates.) You got to go 100% youth, not a thing he is comfortable doing. So you need a new front office, otherwise it will be 2012 all over again with the Correias and Pelfreys and Cappses
  22. The Twins really screwed this up by demoting Polanco. Seems like Plouffe will go for a short rehab assignment any day now and will be ready to come up 5/3. They need Mastroianni and his .575 AAA OPS as much as they needed D. Murphy and his .562 AAA OPS. I'd go to AA and grab Levi Michael. He deserves it more than Beresford and Tovar, has an actual ceiling and is hitting .293/.406/.362 after 2 seasons in a row of 800+ OPS in AA. It's about time that Dozier and his .287 OBP ride some pine.
  23. Reputation rocking? Gee. You led your favorite baseball team to as many titles as Ryan did the last 21 years. What reputation?
