  1. I don't think a b grade is unfair for Stewart right now. That is still a pretty good score. He just hasn't really down much yet, and that isn't a bad thing. The potential is still there.
  2. I'm starting to believe Buxton isn't real. The Twins have created him, and he keeps getting hurt to push back the timetable. In 5 years we'll be hearing about how this is the year he comes up and changes the franchise.
  3. That series was absolutely won by him. Pretty amazing performance. That was a fun series, and an even better post season run for kc. Just goes to show you, a team can make it to game 7 if the world series while still having holes on the roster.
  4. D. D for sure.
  5. Rays had 10 straight top 10 draft picks.... only 2 of which were above 5. Yeah, I ****ing hope they can get some good players out of that. The Rays fleeced the Twins with the Delmon Young trade and got a good SS and SP for a role player. The shine of the Rays is fading for sure. A strength of theirs has been finding good SP, combined with modernizing the game.
  6. I have stated this before, I don't agree with this at all. The Royals are built for the postseason. They have good starting pitchers, good defense, and a shut-down bullpen. They've been winning games because of it. The crapshoot argument has been around for 10 years to justify the terrible play of the Twins in the postseason. Watch the Royals. They have a plan, they position correctly, they make very few mistakes. That is preparation, none of which the Twins showed under Gardy. They Royals know who they are and are playing to their strengths. This is a good team that underachieved in the regular season IMO.
  7. I really see no point in these guys on the 40-man roster. If an INF gets hurt... I mean if 2 of Dozier, Santana, Escobar, Nunez get hurt, you call up Polanco. If a SP gets hurt you call up Meyer, Berrios, or the slew of AAAA guys you have congesting Rochester. Wish we had something cooler to talk about.
  8. Wow. What a game.
  9. The HR's just keep coming for KC. Pretty unbelievable considering how few they hit in the regular season. Plus, the wins in extras!
  10. The announcers are pulling so hard for the O's its making me sick. It's one thing when you are listening to a hometown broadcast, its another when its a national broadcast. I want DickBert.
  11. That was a Twins top of the ninth lol. Bases loaded, no outs, no runs....
  12. I've only watched some of this postseason, but these KC games are the best baseball I've watched in a long long time. I didn't think they were this good during the regular season.
  13. The tempo of this game completely changed after that Dyson call. These relievers are just nasty, for both teams. They make the Twins bullpen look like a bunch of washed up retreads... wait a second....
  14. Lonely in here.
  15. Wow, Royals got screwed on that deal. I'm already soooooo sick of these announcers. I can't stand them and the smugness.
  16. This is a baseball game! Man, I miss watching good baseball.
  17. Is this really a debate? Despite a solid season by Escobar, he is what he is. Santana is a bad cf. The twins need to stop sending infielders to the of. The trend is getting laughable. The question should not be Escobar vs Santana; rather, Escobar at ss Santana at cf vs Santana at ss player x (span? Hicks? Melky? Schaffer? ) at cf. In my opinion, having a real cf and a ss with range will make a big difference. If anyone is in love with Escobar at ss tell me this, would you rather trade him or Santana? Who is more likely to sustain our improve? The answer is easy for me.
  18. You're welcome Parker. Its nice to know that my contributions to this site aren't going completely unnoticed. I think a free handbook would a nice token of everyones' appreciation.
  19. Seth, you commented that Sano has a better arm than Plouffe. I'm pretty sure Plouffe throws in the 90's, so I'm not sure where you're coming from. Anyway. Sano to LF might be a good solution. Either Plouffe or Sano in LF will be average, while I can almost guarantee Plouffe is a better 3b. I don't think Ryan is talking about a permanent move here. In 2015, if Sano's bat is ready, he can play adequate LF then why hold him back? Have him play LF for a season until Kepler or Rosario are ready to come up then you can trade Plouffe before he gets expensive. Or, *gasp* trade one of them to help get the MLB team better. I really don't think it is a big deal. Rookies should have to earn the right to a certain position and pick-up AB's where they can. I see this a a completely different deal than moving a SS to CF half-way through the year because he's your only option. This is all hypothetical, so unless it happens we can't really complain about it.
  20. I think this discussion is larger than just sports on cable. In reality, I think it is anything on cable. How do you justify 50+ dollars being spent per month when you can stream pretty much everything for half that price? Especially since a basic package doesn't include a dvr or the ability to pause! Direct TV had a bunch of great features and I enjoyed being able to watch sports (MLB, NFL, NCAAF, D1 wrestling ect.). Problem was, they wanted me to spend so much money to stay a customer. If the price significantly dropped I would be fine with it. I hope many of you budget and really look where your money is going. I bought a house in May and did 15,000 worth in renovations. Some of it paid in cash, some of it in credit. Direct TV was cut immediately in April when we knew we were heading down that road. Now, I pay 20 for movie channels and local broadcast. I could pay another 20 to get basic cable channels (including the twins) but I'm not really sure I want to. I might just get an antenna, get a roku and subscribe to mlb tv and hulu. I might be in the blackout area though, so it is an issue I'll look more into next spring.
  21. I'm very much with you Brock. Like many, I ended my subscription with direct tv this year. I'm not paying 100 ****ing dollars to watch baseball and the discovery channel. What is going to happen is the broadcast stations will need to start streaming. I can see a day that cable and dish as we know it is completely obsolete. I think the industry knows it too. This demographic you're talking about is going to catch up with baseball. The less free games they air the more isolated they make the fan base. We have more entertainment now than ever before. The emergence of roku and devices like that are going to change everything the more they evolve. Just like HBO changed tv, change is already happening. I embrace it, as I'm tiered of passing for channels I don't want.
  22. I guess it all depends on your definition of control pitcher then. I know the data you are referencing. I think the landscape of baseball has changed.
  23. Given where the team is at, what should our expectations be of the 2015 Twins? Why is 2015 going to look any different than 2014? Or 2013? Or 2012? Or 2011?
  24. What are key traits you are looking for in a new manager? With your long history with Gardy, how difficult was the decision to go in a new direction?
  25. Is the current issue of outfield defense being taken seriously? How much better does an average defensive outfield make the pitching staff look?
