  1. I disagree that sano is better than plouffe was when he first moved over. Plouffes big problem was throwing. It was his problem at short stop too. I also disagree that sano is a much better athlete. Maybe slightly, but plouffe looked like Jackie Robinson in the outfield compared to sano. Just couldn't help myself, the hate that guy receives is amazing. The problem isn't plouffe anyway, it's mauer. Start sitting him or put him back at catcher. If he doesn't life it he can retire. Enough coddling.
  2. I agree that many inn the bullpen need to be cleared out, but he is a great buy low candidate. Pending an injury, he could be effective for a long time and is a known quantity. Problem with the twins I'd they have a bunch of below average players that nobody wants, so it's kinda hard to clear space without eating contracts (which might have been the reason for Ryan being fired if i had to guess,).
  3. Vilsack is not really a good choice for Clinton. He is more of a moderate like her, and doesn't really do much for a large segment of the target population. She needs someone that is charismatic and can help balance the negativity.
  4. I hope so. I almost hate (not a hateful person) trump, but you have to give him credit. This is a good speech. A lot of good points, a few digs here and there, but overall pretty solid. He also got the entire convention to cheer lgbt rights. Are you kidding? These are the same people that have fought ruthlessly against gay marriage. Side note, I looked at Hillary Clinton's page and trumps on Facebook. I'm sorry to say I have 22 people that like trump compared to 2 for Hillary.... but I do have 5 for Gary Johnson!
  5. Trump sounds reasonably scary tonight. Not so sure he is going to lose anymore. He had to be doing everything possible to keep Gary Johnson out of the debates. If he continues to sound reasonable this race is going to be tighter than it should.
  6. I have no doubt he was doing it for selfish reasons. He knows Clinton will win and wants to say told you so in 2020. Now, i wouldn't put it past trump to run again in 2020.....
  7. How about both Cruz and third eye blind trolling the rnc. Can't make it up.
  8. If you're taking about Steve king, he's up for re-election. I want to have faith in my fellow Iowans.... but i can't guarantee anything. He is an embarrassment.
  9. Nothing surprises me anymore.
  10. I did a quick comparison, I'm not sure where you got your numbers from, but mine aren't even close to yours. In fact, my dirty numbers by hand show the twins Are not as bad As I thought. I only did a handful of teams, just to compare a few teams. That doesn't mean they are great, but they're not dead last. I think this analysis might be misguided though. I want to see the distribution of war for each method of acquiring talent. I would bet the draft is the lowest of all categories when looking across the mlb. WAR can be skewed so much by a single player (someone like kershaw doesn't mean you're good at finding talent, you just struck gold). His war is about equal to the entire war of all twins draftees.
  11. Does this all but guarantee we are trading a future all star for a crappy reliever?
  12. Now this gun fight in baton rouge.... The cracks are showing.
  13. How is a mundane like me suppose to know these things? If you guys gave me more power... i might abuse it a little so probably don't do that.
  14. That's pretty funny, but exactly why I used that analogy. Obviously guns and religions aren't the same, so it's not perfect. We have to get creative with how we defeat oppressive Islam, as I'm now going to call it, so we can all agree. We all know the social and economical problems that drastically increase the effectiveness of that message. The problem with relying on throwing money at it (i know hasn't been suggested) and education is the oppressors will take the money, and the current society will shun or take over the schools. We need a Trojan horse of some kind.
  15. I agree Levi is part of the problem. We have to venture on the hypothetical slope. If we want change we can't continue to be afraid off it. The second amendment people think it's a slippery slope when if you start any kind of increase in gun laws. Any. It's unreal.
  16. Are we really getting critical about what is active and what isn't active in regards to supporting extreme actions. Btw, Isis is radical not extreme. I'd consider extreme to be more moderate in that they don't go out and do suicide attacks in other countries. This is exactly what we're trying to get across, the problem isn't just the terrorist. Narrowing the discussion to only terrorists is only discussing the cough and not the cancer.
  17. In this case, I do believe the left tries to keep conversations about radicals only, and it misses the point. I say this, because it is forced down our throats. Frankly, the gop is more concerned with what Obama says than how to actually fix the problem. And, I'd like to point out, if those millions of Americans didn't want to be all those things, they should have voted for someone else. That is exactly what I think of those people.
  18. Are you arguing that it won't, or just being condescending for the hell of it? I don't agree with the notion that twins are bad, but everyone else is bad too. It's illogical, and part of the rhetoric we've heard from the twins the past two decades.
  19. Millions. It is staggering, but true. Reject it if you want, the left is hell bent on keeping the conversation only on the radicals. Do some reading on it. The more I learned, the more I was shocked.
  20. I bet Jack Goin would be all over this topic. Like thyros said, there are obviously teams that succeed more than others. Maybe look at success in trades, if drafting is inconclusive.
  21. I think we're agreeing to a large extent without realizing it. Here is the division. What Levi and i (bark I'm sad you left me out, I'm just slightly less crass), are trying to point out, is that the current practice of Islam is the problem. It isn't just the radicals. There are millions of followers that do inhumane things in line with current ideology. I will give you the problem is the "practice" even though i very much believe the problem is the religion. And I'm not sorry about saying it. Just as i believe Christianity was/is the problem with numerous bigotry practices in our own country and spilt blood for centuries in our history. I'm an atheist though, and don't mind fighting that ideological battle. While there are many that practice the faith progressively, there are not enough, and not enough in the right places. Our interactions with these Muslims (who would be called infidels and killed immediately in said regions), are tainted. Don't you guys see that? The people that are here, going about their business, letting others go about theirs, isn't who we are talking about. We aren't even narrowing this down to the groups that do jihad. The problem is far and wide, and it seems like people are arguing with this notion. Now, I'll offer solutions. I'll start with my preference and most effective. End religion (kidding, not kidding though). Sanctions. I will fully stand up to whatever consequences occur from it. You want to be safe? We aren't supporting these countries anymore. Next, open borders and allow those that want to leave, to leave. Help rise up peaceful teaching of Islam. Put prominent figures on tv, radio ect. Integrate them into our society to show we have open arms. That's just a few.
  22. I think you have a sample size problem. Widen it out from 2000 to 2015. The twins still don't add any to that list, but i have a feeling many others will. If i had time i would help, but am at a funeral in Maryland thus weekend.
  23. That.... Is..... Amazing.
  24. Is anyone denying the role we've played in creating this environment? I think our role is much less than you think though psuedo. The smaller the world has become, the easier it is for radicals to kill people. We've made bad decisions on policy. However, look at it as guns being the vehicle for killing... Murderers will still want to murder. That doesn't stop you from wanting to do our best to limit that access. Try to do something to combat the known problem.
  25. The misleading statement about those that support isis, is that even among that that don't support them, they also aren't overwhelmingly rejecting them. The ones that do, are very much the minority and not living in the region (mostly due to being chased out).
