  1. Just saw that Rhoda is now starting Saturday. Is it fair to ask if this team is going to win a single conference game? Rutgers, Illinois, Purdue should all be easy pickings.... but so should have Iowa been. Regardless, this team will be lucky to make a bowl game. What will it take to get a new coach though? And will the gophers finally hire a big name to at least try and win?

  3. I've been to a lot of desperate, no future small towns in the year in eastern Colorado, western Oklahoma, western Texas ect. It's sad really. Those people have nothing to look forward to. They have no agriculture to inject money into the local economy like Minnesota and Iowa do. I live in small town Iowa but it's different. Farmers here (well I'm in Prague right now but you get) get 200 bushels an acre from corn and 80 from beans. They kill it. With that much money coming in, combined with a bunch of manufacturing all over the state, Iowa is very well off. The same explanations can't be used here as a general rule, however, at a smaller level the sentiment is the same. The problem is, the Democrat party has failed to appeal to them. Many small town people don't like change. I'm generalizing, but they like the good old days and the nostalgia that comes with it. It's hard to accept that everything is changing and adapting. That is where the gop capitalized and took control is the message. A lot of them are religious too and always leaned Republican. Trump just spoke to them and ignited the darkside (anger, fear, hate). Side note. I use Yoda quotes about the dark side with my religious wife all the time. If you follow Yoda, it very closely resembles Christian ideals. I tell her to use the force all the time, which of course she translates as God. It works for us.
  4. Just throwing it out there, how would a kasich rubio ticket be doing right now? Emphasis on Kasich, the vp isn't as important. I think this would be a much different race, and that Kasich would do very well in debates with Clinton.
  5. I have read that as well. I refer to the disslike for Clinton, however I do believe much of it is unfounded, discriminatory, based on lies, ignorance, ect. That doesn't change it, it only explains it. I look at her in my own way, and I find it frustrating when others are so blatantly mislead they are unable to see truth. She might gain the respect and approval of enough independent voters to win again. I never thought enough people would vote for a black man to be president either. The nation can change, but it is made more difficult with giving a certain faction of our population a big platform to fabricate the truth. Listening to Corey Lewindowski in the wrap-up made me furious. Van Jones did all he could not to knock him off his stool. It is people like him... that make it so hard for progress to be made in our country.
  6. He is all but guaranteed to run in 2020 isn't he? If he doesn't play to the right wing he would be a tough challenge for Clinton. With her unlikability, I don't see her winning again in 2020.
  7. Mitt Romney in 2012 destroys Clinton. McCain in 2008 most likely beats Clinton (without Palin). She isn't a great candidate, but she absolutely made trump look like a loud mouth idiot last night. She crushes him on policy. She crushes him on experience. She crushes him on presidential look and feel. The only thing trump has in this debate are prior questionable decisions she's made, which he did ok on conveying. I don't think throwing pence under the bus was a good decision either. Pence has to be wondering what he got himself into. At this point all Clinton really has to do is not die and she will be elected. I don't think there are enough uneducated white males to bridge this gap.
  8. I don't see how anyone can say trump "won" that debate? He did enough not to get put away, but that doesn't mean he did well.
  9. I'm in agreement that officiating was not very good or consistent. That said, i don't have a problem with that last play not being pi. At real speed i thought it was, but the replay showed a different story. It was a borderline call imo. I find out pointless to worry about that call because that isn't the reason they lost the game. Another big ten loss and the division title how is over. From the gamelans so far, they are going to struggle to win many more games. The talent is there though. Brooks is a fantastic back and the defense has had some good moments. If there is a coaching change at the end of the year, the rebuild shouldn't take all that long.
  10. I'm not sure if they are prepared to restructure. It's going to take a lot to move some of these people. I've heard opinions that a vote for trump will be a vote for pence, and trump will be impeached. That's a problem. Pence, while not being a complete disgrace if a person, is a huge right wing zealot. No possible he beats Clinton or any of the up and coming democrats head to head. In 4 years the gop will lose again if they continue to put out candidates like him in national elections. Writing is on the wall. Even if Clinton losses Ohio, which i don't think will happen, the nation is moving more progressive as a whole. Wirth states like Georgia and North Carolina turning into battleground states.... the gop is in trouble. We've been saying it for over a year.
  11. I read some comments on a fox news Facebook article a friend liked. It's stunning how many people try to turn this around on Clinton. Then, attempt to justify the comments as something everybody says. Well, it's one thing to talk about women sexually, what trump did is a completely different level. Indefensible.
  12. Wow. Out of all the qbs you listed, the highest grade i would give any is average. I would take every single one of the non Minnesota qbs over leidner. I'd include gray, Weber, and Abdul khaliq. Your bar is set way too low for an average qb. Most big time teams don't settle on a guy like leidner just because he has the most experience. I'm just hoping the future is bright with green.
  13. Name a p5 qb he is better than. No possible way he is an above average p5 qb. He's easily a below average qb regardless of conference, and one of the worst p5 qbs. It's not even close.
  14. Probably trying to redshirt him. Not sure it matters with green on the roster. Hopefully he is able to step in next year. I have a hard time believing any good high school qb in Texas wouldn't outplay leidner.
  15. Ball was thrown absolutely terrible. Brutal effort by the play calling and execution from leidner. After watching that final drive it is very evident if leidner actually gives these guys balls to catch the passing game would be just fine. Those receivers aren't superstars, but if the qb doesn't even give them a chance they are an easy excuse. Embarrassing game. At least the defense id's looking better.
  16. Is this the worst half the gophers have played since brewster? Maybe we see Croft today?
  17. I would love to hear the discussions of inner circle gop leaders right now. There is a whole month to go before election day. Things could still get worse.
  18. I didn't listen to the full recording, just him saying he moved on a woman. The fact she was married and he still was bragging about it is pretty low. As a married man, i would destroy a guy that pulled that ****. Props to the woman for having integrity.
  19. I had to unfollow a friend of mine on Facebook today. He a devote follower of Alex Jones and trump. I've only responded to a few of the more egregious posts of his, but I'm at the point where I don't care to see that stupid **** every day. I thought seeing it was just acknowledging a different opinion... I'm over it. Conspiracy idiocy isn't worth acknowledging.
  20. Game threads are a lot more fun in the playoffs. I miss the payoffs.
  21. Take it outside (this thread). I would almost be completely in favor of eliminating sports from college. Almost. Those guys don't learn anything in college. They are there to make money for the university. All the university has to do is pay tuition for them. Nice trade-off if you ask me. Some guys choose to actually learn, but you don't have to if you don't want to.
  22. I read that on the nfl as well. Also, pretty disappointed that guys who go through so much together can be so oblivious to struggles others go through. 100% of white guys voting trump? That's tough to swallow. This election has really shown the ignorance of the American public.
  23. Brilliant ad. That should run until the election.
  24. This is certainly looking like a campaign for the white vote. It's fairly shocking, and obvious. I struggle to see how a self proclaimed man of faith can flat out lie through his teeth knowing he will get fact checked. Obviously that is why he dodged as many challenges as possible. I think it's a terrible double standard that pence wins because he didn't call Mexicans rapists or ask for a ban on Muslims. He won on demeanor only, calmly not answering questions, and coming across as a tolerable human. That's where we're at here. Lastly, if pence thinks this campaign is going to put him in the front of the line in 2020 he should have hired an advisor. I foresee much of his platform will have continued to lose support, even from the base. I believe this because i believe the gop is in real trouble and will be forced to rethink its strategy.
  25. The judge is a big deal. I know I'm boring against Grassley for his non action, but unfortunately i think he still wins (although he is getting pretty old and might not make it his full term). It might be better for the gop to keep the Senate one more time, just so they can look terrible by refusing to hear another candidate. That might actually force purple it to vote in the mid term.
