  1. Might make a good FA signing on a two-year deal next off season.
  2. The cold spring always makes for a rough start with the offense. That Correra and Kirloff are producing is huge. The young guys like Julien and Walner need to given time to adjust to the league as the league has likely adjusted to them. Not worried, give it 45 to 60 days/games.
  3. There are lots of federal laws regarding the use of wire transfers in part of criminal enterprise. If Mizuhara, illegally made bets, and had debts related to those bets, and Ohtani, knowingly wired his funds to pay for those debts, he certainly can be pulled into a criminal conspiracy, as well as likely being guilty of illegal wire transfers.
  4. https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/insider/story/_/id/39653572/mlb-rank-2024-top-100-audit-players-feedback Lot's of quotes from Farmer and Correa. Including this one: "You put me at 78," Correa mused. "That's going to change for next year."
  5. The way I read it is that although he's been delayed, he's currently ramping up his throwing.
  6. I love Polanco, but there's literally no one to back up SS without Farmer. I guess Castro or Lewis, but those days are goneby. If regulars are injured, we can draw from the Lanarchs, Martins, Mirandas, and Lees in AAA, and the calculus changes some but not much.
  7. Castro will sub in the field, allowing them to rest a regular at DH against RHers. This probably Rocco's preferred outcome, rather than a dedicated DH. Though I imagine we will see a lot of Santana/AK combo at 1b/DH against RH early on, but as the season wears on, we'll see players rotate through the DH, and Castro get plenty at bats against RHers which he's just fine at.
  8. Performances like that will lead to a lot of Santana at 1B against RHers with Kiriloff at DH.
  9. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/a-dodgers-favorite-returns-after-manuel-margots-to-minnesota/ FG's evaluation of the recent trade. This is the money quote to me, as I hadn't heard that Doncon could stick at SS.
  10. I think they are done for now, but that could change by the end of Spring or as the deadline nears.
  11. Whither Miranda and Gordon? The 2022 Twins I don't believe won a playoff game or finished .500, but I could be wrong.
  12. This is absurd. The saying 'don't count chickens before they are hatched' exists for a reason. Last year's rookie influx was a historic aberration for the Twins, and you're acting as if it's commonplace.
  13. Well, that's a non-sequitor, and with the benefit of hindsight. The legitimate question would be how many more playoff wins would they have had, and the answer is none, because those guys were obviously part of the squad, and Gallo/Famer/Vazquez didn't prevent it.
  14. I mean, I guess if you cook "underperformance" in the recipe, not cutting bait doesn't look great. Lanarch and Miranda had plenty of opportunity and didn't stick, I just don't get why you are against having more darts to throw, because you want to give unknown-outcomes a more significant opportunity. A Rh-ed bat, who can hit lefties, and play good defense was an obvious need for the outfield. Yes, one that Martin may be able to fill, but that's just speculation--hence the need for more darts.
  15. I guess if you just discount defense, speed, and track record. Sure.
  16. Are you really comparing Margot to Garlick, Cave, and Stevenson? Really? You're just guessing that the youngsters will outproduce the veterans with an actual track record in the early months. Imagine last year if we didn't acquire Castro or Famer, because--using your logic--of the belief the likes of Miranda and Lanarch (or whoever) were going to outperform them.
  17. Now you're just making things up. Maybe over the long run those guys will out produce Margot, or Farmer or whoever else you are talking about. But the odds are that we will need many of the players you mention throughout the entirety of the season, as well as the vets.
  18. To those decrying about Martin, Lanarch, and the loss of flexibility on the opening day 26 man: did the Twins suddenly invent some salve to stave off injuries for the entire year? We will see a lot of Martin this year, maybe a significant amount given our team's injury history. Depth matters, as last year showed.
  19. Obligatory. Add in the 5.5 mil, that's at least on paper, very good value.
  20. A fine addition, in backing up CF from the right side. Miller didn't have a ML path forward, even if he does end up hitting. I hope some cash is coming our way as well.
