  1. And what exactly did the Minnesota Twins do in the game to get attention? Not much. Mostly nothing.
  2. Oh..... interesting that Berrios couldn't start opening day, to make sure he could pitch in PR. It doesn't really matter, true. But Odorizzi could start both! He got the opener of both the season and PR. Best to just adjust as needed, instead of try too plan to far ahead.
  3. Ha. Both, eh? I had to make a phone call, and missed the next inning. I can't believe they brought Bard out for another inning. And that they pulled Otani at the first sign of trouble after only 2 inning and just down 3-0. Update: Otani got a blister..... that is the reason for the quick exit
  4. It drives me nuts when we bring in a reliever, and the first thing they do in less than 5 pitches is give up 2 hits and an inherited runner scores. THAT'S NOT HOW YOU SPELL RELIEF!
  5. Bard just came in to relieve Otani to start the third after he was pulled after 2 and 66 pitches and behind 3-0, and the honeymoon is over. 4 hits and a HBP, 3 of the hits homers, and he gave up 5 earned in his inning. ERA now up to 5.79.

  7. Well, the slow burn to 2000 is not that much of a highlight. 3000 is, gets the fame and notice, and rightfully so. He is only 1000 away. Plus, it started with a single and ended with a single. Also, not really very highlighty. Still, one would think it would make the list.
  8. Well that was a great line for Hughes..... against A ballers. Just his age, and all of just 61 pitches. Must be stretched out and ready for the show now....... But it was way more encouraging than the last outing.
  9. I have a feeling Mauer isn't done. If he figures out launch angle to go with the resurgence, his next 5 years could make him a first ballot. I hope it is with the Twins. That sweet swing's evolution to the modern day. A series of one year contracts, believing in himself like Jordan did. That's the ticket.
  10. Odorizzi's 10 walks in just over 16 innings is flying under the radar. It hasn't bit him/us too hard yet, but that is just luck. Luke Bard has now pitched in 5 games for the Angels, 8.1 innings, given up only 1 run (earned) and 4 hits, 9 Ks and 5 BBs, with an ERA and WHIP of 1.08. Average against is .138. He was also not protected to leave roster space and selected in the Rule 5 draft. His SSS line (in warm weather) looks a lot like Reed's so far this year, except for 2 more walks. I was hoping he wouldn't make the roster, and we would get him back.... but that is looking bleak so far. Hard to say if Chargois being lost on waivers was for Morrison, or to have space to select Kinley in the same rule 5 draft. He did get clipped on Friday, coming in in the top of 8th inning with the Dodgers behind Arizona 7-5, and gave up a solo shot to light hitting and oft injured shortstop Nick Ahmed. That made the game 8-5. The Dodgers scored 2 in the bottom of the 8th to make it 8-7, and that homer proved to be the winning run. Chargois has pitched in 6 games for the Dodgers, 4.2 innings, given up one run (earned, a solo home run) and 4 hits, 5 Ks and 1 BB, with and ERA of .193 and a WHIP of 1.07. Average against is .235. Not sure of his WAR now. I do think it was a bad move to let them both get away.
  11. I'll leave you to be the judge. I agree, and have stated the limitations. But as for the title of this thread "Ex-Twins in the Box Scores", facts are stats, and the rest is opinion.
  12. So far, we have Lynn (10BB in 9 innings), Ordorizzi (10BB in 16.1), Gibson (10BB in 14.2), Duke (6BB in 4), Hildenberger (3BB in 7 and 7/7 inherited runners scored), Rodney (2BB in 4.2, 7 hits and a .350 average against, with a loss and blown save), and Moya (2BB in 3.1) to follow and admire in place of Bard. And Kinley is wasting a 25 man roster spot. SSS in colder weather, for sure. But it is still the stat line. So far, Bard's stat line looks a lot like Reed's with 2 more walks, and we are all loving him, and looking at the bright side for our other guys. It will be fun to watch unfold.
  13. Luke Bard has now pitched in 5 games for the Angels, 8.1 innings, given up only 1 run (earned) and 4 hits, 9 Ks and 5 BBs, with an ERA and WHIP of 1.08. Average against is .138. Char-gwah, as the all the Dodger announcers continue to call him even after I called the call in show and gave them the correct pronunciation according to Seth - Chargois has pitched in 6 games for the Dodgers, 4.2 innings, given up one run (earned, a solo home run) and 4 hits, 5 Ks and 1 BB, with and ERA of .193 and a WHIP of 1.07. Average against is .235. Luke Bard was unprotected and a rule 5 selection, and JT Chargois was put on outright waivers to make room on the 40 man (for Kinley's rule 5 selection?) and claimed. Both good enough for prime time with contenders, but not for the Twins.
  14. Maybe. Just the ol' "fresh eyes/outside perspective" thing. I don't think anyone wants him to be striking out 40-50% of his at bats. Plus, everyone that competes at this level wants to be great. That is a given. Of course he wants to be great. Work is shown by results and actions, not words, eh? I am still bummed that they moved him off shortstop. He could have been the most massive shortstop in MLB history!
  15. #3 - Nick Gordon (Chattanooga) - 2-5, R, RBI, 3B (2) / season summary..... ....perhaps. Season summary = average/OBP/Slugging or OPS..... or some version of that. That's what I am getting from the request.
  16. I don't know either. I could have sworn I saw it in the Friday boxes I looked at. Thanks for correcting me. Must have gotten the names mixed up. Must have been LaMonte Wade in Lookouts box Fiday box. LaMonte, LaMarre. outfield, top of the order...... I have Partshiemers. I only remember parts of things. I thought it was quick to be playing a game already on Friday, and it was!
  17. Perhaps with distance, one can actually see things clearer than being very close all the time? I think it goes both ways, and both have advantages.
  18. Amen. On the west coast, Luke Bard has been magnificent (through 8.1 innings with Angels) so far. The loss of Chargois (pretty good through 4.2 with the Dodgers so far) and Bard for Kinley will become a head scratcher from this FO that draws blood. LaMarre went 0-5 in his first AAA game. The only way to cool him off this year was to get him depressed and send him down.
  19. I don't see why expectations are a bad thing. At the beginning of each year, all fans have a hope/expectation that their favorite team will outperform all expectations, make the playoffs, and win a World Series. Sometimes, it happens! (1987 and 1991). Some players come with great expectations. Sano is one of them. So is Buxton. Large bonuses, or high draft picks and hype, are part of the territory, and rightfully so. To watch Sano strike out 40 to 50% of the time is disappointing, regardless of a statistic one favors to convince themselves that the strikeouts don't matter. Strikeouts always matter. I love homegrown players. I love to see them stay with the team for their career. I really don't care for the tourists that pass through. I hope that Sano really does figure it out. He can hit as many homers with a less massive swing, and become a more complete hitter, if he tries to, one would hope, and with his talent, it is just a matter of work and focus. I expect a player, with his talent, to keep refining his talent with work. Michael Jordan not only had talent, but he put in the extra work. That is not unique to the greats. One doesn't become great with just talent. There is nothing wrong with, and it is not being a bad fan, to expect the talented ones to keep trying to improve, and expecting them, to improve on their weaknesses, and truly become great. That is, in fact, the romance that attracts me to be a fan.
  20. Through 1 game, they were on pace to win 0. Through 2 games, they were on pace to win 81. Through 3 games, they were on pace to win 108. Through 4 games, they were on pace to win 81. Through 5 games, they were on pace to win 97. Through 6 games, they were on pace to win 108. Through 7 games, they were on pace to win 92. Through 8 games, they were on pace to win 81. Through 9 games, they were on pace to win 90....... But seriously, I enjoyed your summary after the 10th game very much. I got Hildenberger at 7/7 Inherited Runners/Inherited Runners Scored, not 6/6, and all in the last 3 outings that covered 5 days. Three on the 7th, 1 on the 9th, and 3 on the 11th. (Gave Duke 3 earned - double on his second pitch of the game, and homer on his 4th, Rodgers 1 - single on the 2nd pitch, Gibson 3 - single on the first pitch today for two, and the Escobar boot that was ruled a hit on the 5th pitch of the day). 7 out of 7 runners inherited scored in his last three appearances, plus don't forget the 3 earned of his own, including 2 home runs!
