  1. I am concerned about the report that came out a couple days ago alleging that Rosario basically refused to run the hill in FM when the other minor league guys were running it. The impression i got was that a. he felt he was above that or b. he was too lazy to run it. I have no idea whether the report was valid or not but if so, I find it troubling.
  2. JJ Hardy - No? wait, Delmon then - no huh?, Hoey! Ok Plouffe and May
  3. Halsey, thanks for the updates. They are greatly appreciated.
  4. There are a lot of things to agree with on this thread. Like Jimmer said, I don't really mind a long game. I am an old guy so it's fine if the game goes long. I too can see where it is hard to attract new fans who may get bored easily and I understand the need to get home on a weeknight because of school, work, golf etc the next day. i think Jim Kaat had a really good point about batters. Have all of us ever watched a Red Sox - Yankees game? I think it is faster paced watching paint dry and mostly it is batters primping after every pitch. Do batters gloves really get loose after every pitch?
  5. I for one, have no desire to watch Pelf take five minutes between pitches. I am getting old and am not sure I can wait that long. Of course he does help me take a nap between pitches.
  6. This would have been a very welcome package to me before I retired. Living 300 miles north and working Monday through Friday made it difficult to keep my 20 game package. I finally had to give it up and buy single game tickets as the weekday games were too hard to use.
  7. With no stats to quote, my eyeballs tell me Hicks really needs to learn when and how to be aggressive at the plate. Perhaps, with Mollie at the helm, that will come this year. I, for one, am tired of watching strikeouts while looking.
  8. I love baseball in the winter/spring when there is nothing but optimism. So, you are telling us there is a chance? I like it.
  9. I really believe that a serendipitous development timing like the Twins will have with so many highly skilled players in one spot will be very good for their learning to win together. These are young guys who probably have been "the man" in all their earlier years. Now they will develop as a team and learn to drive each other to success. Yes, some could get a false sense of ability but the good far out ways the bad, in my opinion. I, for one, look forward to a group of guys that expect to have a winning culture versus the crud we have seen recently.
  10. I think I read somewhere that Chat, Tn is actually closer to his home.
  11. Damn Chief, you keep using that logic thingy!
  12. If my aging memory is accurate, I seem to remember a phrase associated with Twins hitters when Vavra was the hitting coach and that was "professional hitter". I remember a special on FSN about Vavra as a hitting coach and I was struck by his work ethic, humility and ability.
  13. It seems the choice here is between a 10 year old Mercedes and a 12 year old Plymouth. I think I would take the chance on the Mercedes.
  14. Like my Grandfather used to say: "Everything is for sale. It just depends on the price". Other than Joe and his contract and a few of the up and coming kids, who isn't available for a trade? How many games have the Twins lost in the last four years?
  15. According to his agent, he only planned to play this long because he is getting married I believe, but still....
  16. In my opinion, Reusse and Souhan write to an audience that makes some of the most inane comments possible. That is what they get paid for. I admit that I enjoy reading some of their stuff, but like politicians, I try to take what they put out with a grain a salt. They create a narrative that is just plausible enough to gain traction and then feed the beast. On any team in any sport, there will be players who routinely play through injuries and players who routinely need to be at 100% to perform. I believe that Joe's concussion took longer to get over than he was willing to sit out. If he had gotten off to a great (normal?) first half before the oblique, would we be even talking about this?
  17. I've been thinking about Maddon. Here's a guy who from appearances was more than willing to get another guy fired so he could take the job. I know MLB manager is a big boy job, but does ethical behavior have any value? I think it does and for that reason I am happy that the Twins did not go hard after Maddon.
  18. I voted none of the above. I think Hammer and Morales will be gone. I see Arcia once again losing his swing. I think Collabello will get more playing time and will rake at a higher clip.
  19. Halsey Hall was a hoot. You never knew what he was going to say next.
  20. Sounds like a quality individual based on his interview during the Twins-Brewers game. That doesn't hurt at this stage.
  21. ESPN has gotten bad for all sports except NFL and NBA. Try being a hockey fan watching ESPN. Spoiler alert: don't bother.
  22. Did you visit the Hobo House?
  23. The Bartlett experiment screams a bit of desperation over the failure of Florimon to be able to hit. I think they see that Esco is what he is and Nunez is nothing but a stab in the dark. I really think they were hoping Bartlett would be able to come back and fill the void until they could find someone long term.
  24. AJ, you are a gifted and thought provoking young man. Well done, Sir.
