  1. Of course I wish the very best for Sano and the Twins. I know he was the youngest player on the team. Still, there seems a long bridge between hitting .258 in low A ball and being a star in MLB. Hope that all comes to pass. And as for my own 'over exuberance', I still think Arcia is the real deal. Hope they both become super-stars.
  2. Glad to see they are taking steps to insure the safety of our team. Good investigative journalism. Thank you (no mention of snow shoveling, though)
  3. There is no reason to rush him since he is so young. There is also no reason to hold him back if he's ready. Would be great to see him as a September call up in 2014. Bert Blyleven was 10-9 with a 3.18 ERA when he was 19 years old. (yes, I know, different era - but still..)
  4. ericchri - Your plus/minus system is amazing. The brilliance behind it is absolutely elusive! The science is mythical! The best example of the 'hunch-theory' logic I've ever seen. I look forward to your next post. (105 wins.... can't wait...)
  5. Trading Morneau now is indefensible. We already have issues/questions at every other infield position except catcher. We have one outfielder we are all confident in. Morneau showed signs of excellence at times last year. This is the year we will find out if he got his groove back. To trade him now could only be seen as a salary dump. If we don't have confidence in him why would any other team? He would bring next to nothing in a trade. Morneau says he doesn't know what the future holds. None of us do. I didn't read anything he said to mean 'I want out of here'. Maybe he gets traded at the deadline, I certainly don't know what's going to happen. But to trade him now makes no sense at all.
  6. Nice article by Parker about some changes to Dozier's swing. Hope that helps him. Plouffe can hit with power, but that seems new. He was not historically a masher in the minor leagues. There was no reason to expect an OPS of > .750. Maybe there is now? Best wishes to Benson. Was AA pitching the best he could master? Will he show us all that he will be hard to keep out of the lineup? Stay tuned! Gardy - I'll save my comments for another blog. Thank you Brad!
  7. The coaches must think Spring Training is good for something. Every now and then a player forces himself onto a team. Albert Pujols - 2001, Kent Hrbek - 1982. Whether it be footwork, follow-through or whatever, the coaches seem to think they learn a lot about the players.
  8. I am the most optimistic about Arcia & Rosario, in that order. Of course, I sure hope Sano winds up being all he's hyped up to be.
  9. Anyone who gathers their lessons from baseball is a wise person, indeed. Thank you sbknudson. A wise person are you.
  10. Very nice article Physics Guy. Thank you. When we look at how Dozier hit last year after skipping AAA it makes me think that starting Hicks at CF this year would be a mistake. He has not been a monster at every level. He has taken some time to get used to the pitching at each new level. Having players learn in MLB usually works eventually, but at the cost of a year of control and sometimes the confidence of the player.
  11. Fun recap of who's who. Enjoyed the "Don't be looking for these guys. They're not going to be there." Thank you Kirsten.
  12. Glad I stumbled across this. Very fun. Thank you Brad.
  13. Thank you Cody. A lot of things have to go right for the Twins to get to .500 this year, but hey, it's spring training. It's time to be optimistic. Go Twins!
  14. I really like this article because it makes one think. Not such a bad thing. Got to believe they would have liked power arms, but they went off on their own tangent. Remember that they were high on drafting tall pitchers. Who came up with that one? Sure didn't arrive at that conclusion by looking at Johan. And sometimes it would be nice to see someone shoot their mouth off occasionally, Dan Gladden-like.
  15. Thank you Cody. It seemed completely trivial until I realized it caused a BASEBALL GAME to be delayed. Thus, it was an important event. Thank you for reminding us of our rich history.
  16. Excellent. Truly excellent. Thank you Brad. Great laughs here.
  17. Thank you Brock. I really appreciate the input of a great many of the posters here. I often find folks I disagree with. Still, it is good to read differing opinions. If everyone here thought the same as I think why would I read this stuff? There would be nothing to learn.
  18. Don't even know where to go with this. Twins have no one in the minors threatening to step up to the middle infield and make a big difference. And with TV revenues going up MI are not going to be cheaper soon. Alas, Carroll will have to play until he's 44. Do we have a clause to keep him from retiring?
  19. If Rich Harden is in his top form he immediately becomes the best pitcher to wear a Twins uniform since Santana left. I suspect it is unlikely to go that way.
  20. Fun to read. Thank you Brent!
  21. I wonder about Jones having anything but a fastball. How developed are his secondary pitches? A guy who throws that hard has not, historically, had to learn another pitch. Interesting conundrum.
  22. Whay are comments here being deleted?
  23. So what if there were? Short of taking up a collection here on TwinsDaily.com I cannot imagine how that would mean anything to the Twins.
  24. Encouraging. Let's hope for the best. A move to the outfield would be unfortunate. Too many OFs in the pipeline & we badly need infielders.
