  1. Heh. "Windows of sucking." Mind if he steal that one some day?
  2. Just have to say: "What's the hold-up?" Palacios is repeating A-ball after struggling and fighting through an injury last season. The video game numbers he's put up relative to his SS peers in the Midwest League are comically ridiculous by comparison. He leads ALL ML SS in every single hitting category, and most don't even show a close second place. And of that list of ML SS's, he's the 3rd youngest. Among all players in the league, he now leads in HR, and is 3rd in OPS. (Palacios is sandwiched in-between Dante Bichette's and Vlad Guerroro's kids at the top of the hitting charts- pretty elite company). Based on the numbers alone, seems like he's nearly a lock on 1st half ML Player of the Year. And most of all, there is no one blocking him at Ft Myers. Let's get Palacios on the move up.* * (Is there a glove issue that is still in doubt? That decision will come in time, and I see nothing wrong if he ends up possibly fitting in at 3B, with Gordon @ SS and Miguel over to 1B).
  3. Thanks. I thought Giminez was a FA major league signing.
  4. Yep- but I only count 7 on the active roster. Whatever the number, Fal-Vine deserve credit for competently shoring up the roster and getting mostly competent results- without splashy but dangerous deals that might have risked the long-term success of the club. The big thing is pushing the club to finally commit to, ONLY, Sano and Polanco at 3B and SS, as well as acquiring two better defensive catchers. Now if they can spend a little more and get a more trusted DH option and pitching help before August 1.
  5. Santana looks in control out there... But... in terms of pitch to contact... Having 6 new players fully ensconced at their defensive positions- C, 3B, SS LF, RF CF- and all either excelling or providing above average performances (plus Dozier, Mauer and Vargas doing quite well on the right side of the infield) has to be a big factor in Santana's success.
  6. Not sure if Chris Paul is a legit prospect or not. Why has he not been called up to Chattanooga yet (repeating at Ft Myers)? Looks like the opportunity at 3rd is his for the taking with the Lookouts. Does he have a good enough glove to play 3rd in the majors some day?
  7. FWIW- 9 errors (both @ SS & 2B). Bears watching, but not disqualifying going forward. Very exciting to see the quantum leap at the plate in BOTH power and plate discipline. How often do prospects DOUBLE both their BB% and their ISO% year over year?
  8. To remove some of the catcher clutter, perhaps maybe the Yankees would offer to trade Aaron Hicks to get back JR?
  9. Good. Let's get Porcello thrown out of the game early. It's about the only chance the Twins have to win today with Tepesch on the mound.
  10. Maybe... And maybe not. After all, how many MLB greats started their careers at SS and transitioned well to other positions in the field? I can easily envision that all four of Polanco, Gordon, Vielma and Wander Javier all ending up on the 25-man roster together by around mid-2019 or 2020. Dozier moves on to FA in 2019. Sano moves from 3rd to 1st with the retirement of Mauer after 2018. Polanco gets traded for pitching during the transition of the 4 pieces in either 2019 or 2020. Vielma becomes the high quality utility guy.... and 2nd, SS and 3rd are all ably filled both defensively and offensively through 2025. It could happen.
  11. Looks like a born set-up man to me. (I think either Falvey or Levine are one of those few bosses who actually reads their employees resumes!)
  12. Either of them...? Which two do you have zero faith in..? Molly and Allen... or the "Wonder Twins"? Or all four of them?
  13. IOW... (Why did anyone, after he returned, EVER) Trust In Terry? 2013-14-15-16 Amateur drafts... Is anyone ever going to help the starting pitching staff in any meaningful way? If it is now apparently not going to be Jay, or Stewart (Are Kohl's health issues an unanticipated/disregarded underlying concern? Or is it his lack of baseball experience that is retarding his progression through MiLB? Twins coaching staff's persistent inability to develop very talented young arms into productive major leaguers commensurate with their upside potential? Some combination of all of the above?)
  14. *** #1 Understatement of the Offseason. ### Will we ever find out whose bright idea this was? And is he in any way still associated with the Twins?
  15. Perhaps you saw it over the weekend... the Cardinals (or Red Sox) broadcasting crew noted that Perkins doesn't look anywhere near close to being ready. Velocity was reported to be only 78 MPH. I'm guessing 60-Day.
  16. "Pretending" or wishing? And Burdi has his own set of ???s. Not sure the Dodgers would bite on this deal- even if the Twins substituted Berrios or Santana for Gibson
  17. * ...Insert "Slippery Slope Theory Here...
  18. Uhhh, yeah? It takes some real champeen chutzpah and trolling for any Twins fan to try to find fault on the part of the GM from 86-92. From making exactly the right hire in TK, to breaking down and rebuilding a spent pitching staff in near-record time and then producing 2 WS champs and 2 more legit WS contenders over 6 full seasons required alot more than dumb luck and Calvin's young stable of inherited talent. Plus, he was dealing the entire time with an owner who had been talked into taking on the Twins by his buddies- Bud Selig and Jerry Reinsdorf- as a tax shelter, not to establish a winning baseball tradition.
  19. Exactly what I thought.... with a new Ivy League brained sheriff in town quite soon, plus hopefully a new big Ivy League baseball brain serving as his boss as POBO, if the 2017 rotation doesn't look drastically different than 2016... then the Twins Search Committee probably failed miserably in their "Search" May I politely suggest that rather than "penciling in" a 2017 rotation at this point, the new management instead use a big, bold ink pen and completely blot out a bunch of these guys' names off the (glaring lack of) SP depth chart for good?
  20. Anyone got the magic number on us "clinching" #1 (#30) over (under) the Braves?
