    Last night on bumper to bumper Ron Coomer made his weekly appearance. In discussion about the second half plans he made a comment about the idea to try Mastrionni at 2nd base... When checking his stats I can see that he has played 68 games at 2nd in the minors. FPCT is .965, 21 DP's and 10 errors. This idea is pretty intriguing to me. His speed and ability to create havoc on the bases is probably best on the team. The guy so far has proven he can handle major league pitching. I think this would not be a bad idea to clear the way for some of the OF prospects we have coming up and also filling a hole at 2nd base.

    Glen is a very bright guy with a great head on his shoulders. I am not surprised by his ability to digest this type of information and use it to his advantage. My older brother played with Glen from 8th grade through High School in a winter Dome league at the old Rice street dome, and even back then you could tell he was going to go far in baseball.

    Well not too many of the players seemed to be enjoying the Zach Brown Band... I wouldn't be either.

    He will have a spot come the trade deadline. TR is shopping Span for starters... he is really our only option to trade that has value (and he is willing to move). I have seen lately more and more coming out that the Twins are likely to hold onto Willingham, and the only other trade options that may have any good value right now are basically Span and possibly Capps if he can recover well from his recent injury. Only time will tell, but I think sooner than later you will see Parm up again playing everyday in RF

    Good to see Buxton showing off the power a bit. Making a transition into using wood bats is not easy to do, it completely changes your approach as a hitter. He will figure it out, the kids a beast!

    Talk about messing with a guys head... He hits two home runs in about a week, one against arguably the best pitcher in baseball and we wave bye bye. As much as I love D-Span, and as a fan really don't want to see him get traded. We may need to do something to open up a position for Parm. Parm is a solid hitter that needs to be playing everyday to keep refining his skills. Hopefully we trade Span by the deadline, have Chris play in AAA until then, and after the trade call him back up and give him a shot like Plouffey got to just play everyday somewhere.

    I have said all along on multiple different threads here that Revere is a premier player to come, and his speed and instincts in the outfield significantly make up for his lack of arm strength. Anybody that understands how baseball is played and really gets the outfield position, should know that good reads/good angles to the ball/accurate cut off throws/great speed/relentless effort without care for ones body, outweigh a weak arm any day. Now add the fact that the kid can just flat out hit, and we have a piece of the puzzle that needs to be held on to. I probably watch almost every game the Twins play, and have been watching Ben closely ever since comments were made on here about how runners will have no problem at all going from 1st to 3rd on routine singles to right. Not once have I seen a play where a runner advanced to third due to his lack of arm strength. Where are all the Revere haters now?!

    Screw Baker,,, i'd rather see them give Frankie a low end contract for 2 years and take the risk there. Much greater upside over Baker and even if he doesn't perform well, we still have a cheap contract to trade away to a team that is dumb enough to take a shot at him next year. I will probably get ripped for my take, but I had to play devil's advocate

    I don't see any of those quotes as "crying"... This is just guys being honest, and who really know's what context these responses are being used in when you can just cut and paste your favorite parts to make a point in your favor? Look at the way Mauer has been hitting the ball of late. Yes, he may have made comments in the past about the park tempting lefties to get pull happy, and I truly think that last year especially he was falling into that trap and his numbers showed for it. This year, he has gotten back to his old self, using the entire left side of the field and not trying to pull every ball he can. My point is baseball is a game of adjustments, just like many other sports, good players will adapt to their surroundings and figure out a way to be effective. We're just about half way through the third season, let's give these guys a chance to make the necessary changes to the ball field's dimensions before we title them "cry babies".

    I guess I see a lot of holes in this post. Seems like any time you take quotes and chose what to report, there is a lot of room for things to be taken out of context. Can we have more details regarding when this speech was given, a full version? Not saying I disagree that these lines are slightly alarming, however I think we owe it to the guy to at least see the full story. As of right now Thrylos, this just looks like you cut and pasted lines out of a Terry Ryan speech, to make the guy look incompetent and have an excuse to call for his head.

    The bring up another guy to see what he can do, while Dozier gets development against lower talent in AAA argument seems a little backwards to me. Weren't we making the same argument for Dozier when he was in AAA? I remember multiple threads and posts on here saying that we need to bring him up and see what he can do. Now that he is up here and scuffling a bit, people knee jerk and want to send him down?! Won't we just end up saying the same thing about the guy we call up to replace him in two months?! I.e. Florimon is struggling after some early success, he needs to spend more time in AAA to develop. I could be wrong, but it just seems like we are discussing the same point that we were a few months ago for the Bull Dozier....

    Couldn't agree more with you gmarais... you can't have your cake and eat it too. Let's do Dozier a favor and let him continue to play ball... what difference is it going to make this season anyway? Let's not treat this guy like Parmelee and screw with his head so much that he doesn't even know where he is anymore, and just watch a young player grow and mature through adversity.

    I spend a large portion of my time following the Twins through this website and love it. Sometime when I have read through all I can here, I will see what is showing up on the mlb.com site... Not surprising, that site is littered with "haters" that seem to really only want to complain and call for Gardy's head. Yes there may be a fair share of fans that dis like Gardy, however I tend to agree with you that it is disappointing to see the level of ignorant comments being posted there. I tend to read them only for a good laugh, and move along without giving it too much thought. At least here when people have negative comments, they usually can back them up with some sort of intelligent argument based on facts, not random nonsensical rambling from idiots....

    As a life long Twins fan and life long "Yankee Hater" this video makes me livid... Really? The umpire can't see the bozo in the red shirt raising his right hand in the air holding the baseball?! I thought I finally got over the blown call on Mauer's double a couple years ago, but how in the hell do you explain this mistake? It's bad enough they have one of the highest payrolls in the league, and can basically buy any talent they want/need. Now we have to start seeing umpires favoring their players when making calls?! NOT COOL.....

    His slider looked very good, if I remember correctly he used a dirty slider off the plate to strike out Youk in the second AB of the inning. Ball looked like a straight fastball out of his hands and totally fooled the batter. One of the things I liked the most is the fact that he did not waste any time and threw strikes! Hopefully he can keep it up as teams start to adjust to him, and stay up for a while... were going to need a good lhp next year in the pen once Perkins makes his move to closer!

    Based on your screen name I would say you have other things making your head hurt! haha But seriously, as I stated before I am very skeptical about that ever really happening, and would be happy with Revere being successful in any way shape or form.

    Revere's approach right now is in no way geared towards hitting HR's. With his short compact swing, we will likely see what we have been seeing... until he makes the adjustments to add some pop. I love the Kirby Pucket comparisons, look at Puck's first two years as a Twin. In a total of 1248 AB's he hits a total of 4 HR's all of them coming in his second season. Third season, Kirby hits 31 HR's in 680 AB's... and well for the rest of his career you all know how it went. Who was responsible for Kirby's sudden climb into power hitter immortality? And whose to say that this can't happen for Benny Boy?? I know many people may laugh at this, and I am very skeptical myself, but wouldn't it be a pleasant surprise if this was the case?

    I've heard Scott Baker often referred to as "Big Spot Scott", I think Diamond is a much better person for the title right now.
