    Not that it matters with the deep fly…. But I just don’t understand why you bring in the infield in the second inning.

    No, other than he didn’t get what the plan was at the trade deadline and him and the remaining veterans will try to rebuild the clubhouse culture (paraphrasing). Believe a couple of guys were sent packing for speaking out and saying less. As I have stated, I hope he and Ryan are here next year..

    That was a Twin move, does anyone understand the fundamentals anymore? Those types of decisions cost runs… if you had MLB hitting.

    2 + 2=4, we have had no culture here for over 2 years, I guess they have a plan for what they’re doing… Pablo Lopez take away after his meeting with Falvey. I think it’s safe to assume he will be pitching somewhere else next season. Also this BP crap is getting old in a hurry.

    Making Mize really work. Matthews might give them 4, Wallner doing what he does best. It's all I need to see.

    Agree 100%. Questions or problems could be BP, specifically a closer in high pressure situations. The other thing I see, and just my opinion, Wallner is not a great hitter. He either transitions to first or he is mainly a bench guy that could DH against RH pitching. To me, Lewis and Keaschall are critical. If Keaschall can continue anywhere near what he has been doing that fills a huge need at second base, good plate approach and solid enough defensively. Lewis’ defense is above average, he needs to get back to better plate approaches (2023) and stay healthy. if those things can happen, Cullpepper and another outfielder develops by next spring they are not that far off from having a competitive roster.

    I just don’t know where they go. They could have one of the better starting rotations in all of baseball if they keep Lopez and Ryan. The issue is the BP is a complete disaster and will need a legit closer and 3-4 more reliable arms. Trading everyone was shortsighted unless they are going full tear down this offseason and plan on moving both Lopez and Ryan. Than we go to the everyday lineup. What do we really have? I believe you need both corner OF positions filled. 1st base is s big need, don’t want to hear Clemens or Julien are the answer. Is Lee a MLB starting SS? I am in the camp he’s not. Will Lewis stay healthy and can he return to anywhere near his 23 production? So you have a core of Buxton, Keaschall and Jeffers. I just don’t get keeping Outman down at St.Paul, let’s see if a change of scenery helps. Abel and Bradley should be up… another BO game today, just idiotic. Need Cullpepper and a couple other minor league players to be ready next spring or you are definitely moving Ryan and Lopez at next year’s trading deadline…. they will still have a ton of value.

    If it’s possible the CWS just might be more incompetent and poorly run than us. They traded Crochet and still suck.

    Several articles on doing it the Milwaukee way the past few days…. It’s like they do a rebuild every other year. Since 2016, they have had one bad season (throw out the covid year) otherwise they will hit their 5th 90 win season since then and the other years they have been in the mid to upper 80’s in win totals. The difference is with similar payrolls they have the FO with a strategy or philosophy that puts those types of players on the field and a manager (Counsell & now Murphy) that understands how to hold players accountable while being respected and players buying in. Milwaukee has some bigger contracts, Yelich, and to a smaller degree Contreas, Woodruff. They know how to identify the players they want to be on the field and. They draft well and have an uncanny ability to know when to move on from players. Burnes, Williams, Hader… i just don’t get the need to move Looez and Ryan this offseason. 20 million for a quality starting pitcher is a steal in today’s market. If you don’t have quality starters nothing else matters because you’re not winning.

    Hader was in the middle of a meltdown, I'm surprised they got anything in return... a sack of potatoes seemed high. . He absolutely sucked , even in SD for a while, usually players don't comeback from that. You are correct on Burnes, they made the playoffs that season and Woodruff went down with a shoulder issue right before the playoffs. Burnes lost game one and they were swept at home in a wildcard series. With Woodruff out the entire next season they traded Burnes, thoughyit was a deadline.... My bad.

    Ortiz was benched for a week due to his plate approach, not moving runners over with 2 strikes, getting runners on 3rd home with < 2 outs, swinging at first pitch balls.... accountability . His defense.... Lights out, saves a ton of runs that doesn't show up on stat sheets. I would take Ortiz over Lee in a second.

    Buxton at this point. Still believe when we were healthy we had a slightly better pitching staff. For me that is my angst with the trades made at the deadline. The everyday players we received were either not MLB caliber or years away from even potentially helping. With a solid scouting department you should be able to find players like Milwaukee is fielding that can field, run, and make contact. Oh and throw in a real manager , that wouldn't hurt either.

    If Im not mistaking, Burnes and Hader were deadline trades with expiring contracts. Dumping Williams was a genius move, one I would not expect out of our FO.

    Agree to disagree. Batting .158 w/ RISP (hopefully that's incorrect), and yes there have been opportunities, especially when they were still in contention. Plus striking out around 33%. I have stated multiple times, would like to see him get a shot at first. Good glove, strong arm, otherwise he is best suited at DH. He is bottom 10% in range in the OF, just doesn't cut it.

    Wallner in 76 games this year, batting.213 with 29 rbi’s. Throw in below average defense, what an I missing and what does that say about how bad Larnach is. If Wallner can’t be moved to 1st he is a DH against right handed pitching only. Not a ton of value.

    They are both under team control thru 27. Both are steals, if they were on the open market I would agree. #2 is an owners choice, that's why yesterday's news was depressing as all hell. These two guys are steals compared to other SP putting up similar numbers. They could and should hold onto them. If they are not in the 2027 playoff hunt trade them at that deadline. They could take a page from the Brewers playbook. They seem to know what they're doing. Finally, prospects are fine, but maybe draft better and build the farm system through it. Trading Ryan and Lopez should land some solid prospects, unfortunately we have all watched a ton of top 100 in our system, and very few ever develop or make a impact. You have two quality SP in Lopez and Ryan, they give you a chance against the big bad big city teams like the NYY, you know what doesn't, BP days. There is a 1 1/2 yearvwindow to do something,... if the Pohlands statement yesterday was halfway honest they build a team around them.

    Haven't you/we watched enough of Larnach and Wallner to see what they are... slow, poor defense, low contact hitters. Other than 23, Lewis has been inconsistent at the plate and injury prone. It will be another long season next year if they are counting on all three to be a big part of the future.

    As has been stated by many great baseball minds on this site.... the team was several position players and a manager like Pat Murphy, away from WS contention. In half seriousness, why would you even entertain trading Ryan and Lopez. When you have quality starting pitchers and a strong BP you should be in every game, as long as you have speed , can play defense and make contact. The team has control on both players for two years. No way I trade them, I build around them.

    So much for the report they would be sold in two weeks. This is seriously depressing… Falvey and Rocco leading the rebuild and field approach. Kick in the balls.

    The entirety of the roster wasn't that far from contending for a playoff spot and even the AL Central. Had the starting rotation and a quality BP. The issue was the lineup. A lineup that couldn't make contact, run bases or field the ball. Then throw in a manager that just made things worse. There were select trades that needed to be made at the deadline. Those trades should have focused getting 8 guys on the field that understand fundamental and situational baseball. Speed, contact, defense and a manager that knows how to use them (and how to handle the starters and BP). As of today there are so many areas of needs it could be years of watching games like last night more times than not.

    The rebuild that will begin this winter will not be completed for years without free agent spending. When the front office decimated the BP at the trading deadline they left themselves with arguably the worst BP all of baseball and a lineup that barely qualifies as major league worthy. Before the brain trust traded every viable BP arm, what was needed was a plan to retool the every day lineup, which was no small task; corner OF, SS, 2nd and 1st needed to be addressed. Now you need upgrades in those positions plus an entire BP. I don't want to here how easy it is to just throw in arms in the BP and you will be fine. It was less than five years ago we had Colome and than Pagan as the closers, we were out of playoff contention by mid-May due to those porous BP that blew lead after lead to begin those two seasons.. And this current lineup and BP is significantly worse.

    Hate to do it, but time to move upstairs and watch a real team coached by a real MLB manager.it was fun for a 1/2 inning.... Well not really, 1 run w/bases loaded and no outs was about on par for this team.
