This team cannot be sold soon enough. This team is not a serious contender for anything, including the AL Central. Any manager that thinks that leading off Matt Wallner is a good tactical move is clueless. They have basically the same players in Larnach and Wallner, neither of whom have shown they are everyday MLB players. A serious team could go with one, but to count on both is malpractice. They don’t have a legitimate first baseman, at the plate and fielding. Duran’s throw yesterday on a swinging bunt told me all I needed to know about France’s defensive ability. And then there is the clueless manager… the team’s laid back who gives a sh** uninspiring play is a mirror image of his leadership and decisions. Checked out early today and will not be following until we get on a heater. Being a bandwagon fan is what I have become.

Minnesota Twins 2025 Position Analysis: First Base
hitterscount replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The defensive end, or lack of, will cost the team outs and runs. The offense France and Miranda brings won’t offset the above. A 1-year Rizzo deal might have been the way to go as much as hated it when brought up earlier hear.- 28 replies

This sale cannot happen fast enough. You really dont need to have a massive increase in the payroll to make the current roster favorites to win the division, but the cheapass owners putting on a self imposed spending limit has pretty much left last years sore taste to remain in our mouths with no hope of getting it out.

You are correct, the AL. West is probably not as strong. More worriesome is that Detroit and KC have possibly bypassed. us, which makes next season even more tumultuous if Rocco continues with the same strategies with the same team and no upgrades with the projected 1st base rotation and no solid LHP relief option.

They are close to being a playoff team, might even sneak in in the weak AL central. A legit first baseman and another RP are needed and should be able to be accomplished through trades. However, with that. this is the team that lives and dies by the longball even though there are no legit power threats. They are slow and unable to steal bases to generate runs, pretty poor at hitting with RISP and refuse to advance runners in obvious bunt situations. They have a manager that pinch hits i early innings draining the bench leaving no options at the end of the game. They were a bad defensive team, manager that pulls starters early that are cruising, uses his closer willy nilly with so many head scratching decisions. With that they have talent (when healthy) have a quality starting rotation and some exciting prospects. This team cannot be sold fast enough to bring in some positive changes and fresh energy.

First off, he is a really good player when he's on the field. I never understood or put much stock in prospects, 3/4 of them never pan out, and those are the highest rated ones.. Half of the players on most teams were drafted after the 8 the round. So trading a known commodity for prospects is a crap shoot. Why are the cheap ass owners unwilling to go over their self-imposed spending limit when this team is really 2-3 solid players away from contending (and a major league caliber manager). Wouldn't fielding a competitive team make them more attractive when they try and unload the team next year? There's no way I trade Correa if I'm the money pinching cheap ass Pohland's. He is arguably worth more on the team the 2-3 propects that will likely never pan out.

Twins 2, Orioles 7: Stick a Fork in Them
hitterscount replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
They were in a favorable position in mid-August, but as many of us were saying, Rocco's decisions took many wins and put them in the loss column... There is no need to revisit them, I will raise a toast when he is relived of his duties. This collapse is not surprising to me and there is no plausible reason for Rocco to be in the office on Monday.... Take the GM with him as well.- 134 replies

Orioles (Povich) vs Twins (Lopez): 9/27/24, 7:10pm

Agree with everything said other than Lewis. Too much talent there not to give him another year.... However he needs to stay healthy and identify where he plays in the field. -

With the season over, the next thing too look forward to is what shake ups and roster moves are made this winter, maybe even sooner. This team has some talent and young promising arms in Festa, Matthews and SWR. However there needs to be changes , you absolutely cannot run this coaching philosophy back next year, and need a GM that can identify cheap talent in the field.... you cannot continue to rely on the home run while playing poor defense and sloppy fundamental situational offense. Look no farther than the next team to the east. -

What I find most striking is you go and sign Correa… than slash payroll. It makes zero sense to have one player account for nearly 25% of your budget What is their blueprint for success? They have no clue how to build a winning organization and a manager that has less of an idea how to create a winning culture. I blame the owners and FO at this point more than the data driven manager. -

Exactly... Not even a tough decision, unfortunately Rocco cannot figure out the simplest concepts and now time has pretty much run out.- 133 replies

You down vote anyone that has anything negative to say about Rocco… please share what you see in his managerial decisions that deserve respect? It’s been two plus years of uninspiring performance, many questionable decisions… what are many of us missing?- 133 replies

The rookie starters, IMO, been the lone bright stop over the last 6-weeks. They have done everything you could expect... as far as 4-5 innings, you may need to check-in with the MIA manager, he likes pulling starters at low pitch counts because his little tablet dictates him to do so.

They do not deserve a playoff spot. Pulling for Detroit, KC and Seattle losses for the past two weeks is really not that fun as this team play shows they really don't give a sh** .... . Cannot end soon enough, then the question becomes will the owners make sweeping changes to the front office and coaching staff or are they content with the product they expect us to support.

Agree with everything you are saying other than Santana. I cannot dump on the guy. He has bailed us out in several games this season with a a few clutch hits. As far as Miranda, he could not provide the defense that Santana has, poor defense has been a problem for the team this year.

The only question I have is can they get over .500…. Time to move on from the GM and his puppet manager… I say puppet because most believe Rocco is just an extension of the ….. whatever they are doing it doesn’t work.
