  1. Just read an article on Bar Stool Sports, so take it how you want, that the sale is imminent, probably weeks not months. The perspective buyers didn’t want to be responsible for 425 million in debt that came with the buying price. At 1.5-1.7 billion I don’t get it, but if true it explains the dumpster fire at the trading deadline… even though some of the moves didn’t make sense and will make the rebuild more challenging and probably longer to complete. But if true it’s great news! Goodbye Rocco and Falvey and a fresh start to better baseball.
  2. This organization is dysfunctional, and it showed on the field. The players body language said it all, little fire, enthusiasm and even less fight. Fall behind, game over. Falvey had to believe this lineup would challenge the team HR record, how else could he have thought they would be putting runs on the board…little speed, awful team defense and situational awareness. Basics like where the ball should go to hold runners from getting extra bases, and on the flip zero ability to get an extra base themselves. I don’t believe I have ever watched a slower and boring team. It’s becoming quite clear that Rocco had zero respect from the players, both everyday and the pitchers. From Larnach leading off to pulling pitchers at 65 pitches in the 5th throwing a shutout. His decisions were erratic with zero consistency. Back to Correa… when he was signed the second time he stated that the goal was to eventually be at third. Maybe this season was sooner than expected, but give him credit to realize that he could help the team better there. Wouldn’t be surprised if he begins to play better in Houston, playing for a team that has no team chemistry being lead by a clown will affect production. Moving him was the correct call, especially if Lewis can stay healthy and doesn’t want to move to second. Paying 30 million a year for the production we would get in return wasn’t reasonable.
  3. I assume you haven’t followed what I have been saying the past 18 months? The pitching staff wasn’t the problem, rather was part of the solution. For that I have given Falvey credit. But what he put together with the position players is malfeasance at best. France, Larnach and Walner should not have been paired together to be the corner outfielders, no viable 2nd baseman. You could look at this lineup from before spring training and see there was no team speed and they would be horrible fielding. This pitching staff was actually better than their numbers and were saddled by terrible defense. What this team needed was a reboot on offense and defense. Trading Bader, France, Correa, Castro all decent moves because they weren’t part of the future. I would argue they should have moved one of Larnach or Wallner. The incompetence started in the Duran trade. We didn’t get the value we should have. Oakland received more in the trade with San Diego and IMO I would take Duran over Miller. From there it was a shot show of dumping salaries and getting nothing in return. I guess you could argue Bradley could be a backend guy.. If there was a strategy over the last few days in these trades I am not seeing it. The offense, defense and lack of team speed was the issue. Nothing they did helped to do a major rebuild. Let’s not forget that they tried to trade Ryan, thankfully they had enough of getting screwed they didn’t pull the trigger on another fleece job. The only hope I have is that the new owners were calling the shots and Rocco and Falvey’s dismissals are coming soon.
  4. What has Jeffers done to deserve a contract extension? He’s a below average defender with a below average rate at throwing out base runners over his career , is near league average this year. Other than they have no other options I wouldn’t break the bank for him.
  5. They hit the exit lane and took the off ramp without a strategy. Their own actions speak of the gross incompetence in putting together the team. Rocco and Falvey should be given the same treatment within the first 10 seconds after the sale of the team.
  6. Here’s my two cents and I have been consistent for the past two years on this assessment… Falvey and Baldelli are not at MLB talent level in their respective positions. Falvey at least put together a competent pitching staff this year. I would take this staff over almost any team in the AL. They needed a co-GM to focus on the offense and defense. Both areas have been putrid for over two seasons. This side of the team could have been re-tooled this offseason, in reality with a couple of these moves today if Falvey focused on OF’s, 1st and 2nd. What we witnessed yesterday and today didn’t need to happen. There was no strategy other than dumping salaries. No one was added in these 10 or so trades that bring any value to what was the problem with the team… contact, speed and defense and none will help next year. This was a disgrace. You have to wonder if the owners goal is moving the team for a better chance at a sale.
  7. Didn’t you just try and tell me we’ve lost nothing and have a solid core left?
  8. I am not totally against what’s happening, other than Duran. We have the pitching… we are awful at making contact, playing defense and base running. What have they done to improve the lineup? Seriously, they haven’t received one everyday player that will help next season. As stated before…. They need help at 1st, 2nd, don’t see Lee as the answer at SS, at least one corner OF, if not both as Walner and Larnich have regressed at the plate and are liabilities on defense, and Jeffers is alright for a catcher at the plate but brings below average defense. These trades do nothing to help next year and I don’t see the cheap ass owners going in on the FA market, or until it’s dumpster diving time. So call me a little pessimistic in what i am watching.
  9. Who cares what he thinks… no way he deserves an extension. Fire him tomorrow and he will be waiting for another club to pick him up.
  10. Alm that matters is the highest rated SS’s.
  11. Over/under in wins next season… my guess is vegas will have them around 68…. we are dangerously close to Colorado Rockies territory,.
  12. Lot of flaws with that lineup, unless you’re talking about getting through the season.
  13. Settle down, a little sarcasm in these dark times.
  14. Get Buxton to waive his no trade and they might get the payroll under 40 mil.
  15. Taylor’s numbers look like Mike Trout when compared to Outman. Was kind of liking this trade thinking we were getting a solid MLB OF, the .103 average, .083 on the road, changed that. Hopefully consistent playing time will help increase thus….. otherwise let some of the promising minor league prospects get some time in September.
  16. Whatever... All I know is if you had 7 other players in the field that gave the effort, played defense and understood the fundamentals like he did we would be fighting for first place.
  17. I still disagree with the Duran trade…had him through 27 at a reasonable price. The pitching staff is solid when Lopez returns next season and gives the team a chance to compete now. Zero issue trading Correa if you get a couple of guys that could be everyday players next season. Our issues lie with the positional players. Need a ton of work with the lineup. I see the need for two corner OF’s, 1st, 2nd, SS if you trade Correa, that’s what makes the Duran trade so headscrathing, it addresses none of the issues that this team has. If you weren’t keeping him you have to get guys that can help almost immediately. The offense and defense is that bad. And as far as being unfair to Correa and future FA’s… you have to perform. Was alright with the signing when it happened, but the return has been nowhere near what he’s getting paid and he can nix any trade.
  18. Have you watched this offense at all this season… seriously… the defense is horrible, baserunning…. horrible (a ball off the wall a couple of days ago with men on 1st and 2nd no one out and we end up with the bases loaded and don’t score, ,that sums up the season) Walner Larnich, Jeffers all taken steps backwards, yet our team development is good… got it.
  19. Just a terrible trade. The Phillies needed a RP, their BP is awful. This is what Falvey gets in return, a 18 year old in low A that strikes out at an alarming rate, and a projected mid to backend SP. You have to do better. You have to get prospects that can help this anemic offense next year. We just traded one of the best relievers in the game, WITH team control for 2 1/3 seasons, WTF are we doing! This team isn't/shouldn't be this bad. We have the pieces on the pitching staff to contend for the AL Central. What we need is some players with speed that can play defense, oh and a new manager. This trade does nothing to improve the team, so a money dump Im guessing, it's gross incompetence like this that ended my season early.
  20. I guess I am missing your point, so I cancelled MLB when Baldelli was extended and can no longer watch every game, won't make another game at Target field so somehow that means I shouldn't follow this site? It's been 12 months of sloppy and uninspired play with a rumor of a potential sale of the team, which appears to be the only way to dump Baldelli and Falvey, and somehow I am a traitor in your view? None of what I have said is a sign of a bandwagon fanboy...
  21. Ryan and Gardenhire's teams were 100 times more enjoyable to watch. I don't expect to win the WS every year or even make the playoffs every year. But watching the current product on the field is tough, there are long stretches where they appear to just go through the motions and are even bad at that. I have zero hard feelings, just checked out on this season when a manager is rewarded for leading one of the worst teams in baseball since last August. It's not that much to ask for clean, sound fundamental baseball and even some situational awareness.
  22. Trust me I will be fine and uninjured. I've been loving Twin BB since I could walk. The 87 & 91 WS exemplify what a team approach, fundamental baseball can do. Granted it doesn't guarantee WS or even playoff series wins, but it is clean and fun to watch. I've been consistent in my displeasure with Baldelli for 18 months... It was time for a break for me and the other posters and fans on this site in my takes on the shortfalls with Baldelli and the apparent lack of team chemistry and simple fundamental baseball seen at the 6th grade level. II don't have the same connection to the Brewers that I do the Twins as I still follow daily, w/o watching sloppy games. Instead I did what I said I would do after the Baldelli extension and stopped financially supporting a team with zero direction that plays uninspired and brutal ball more times than not.
  23. Die hard Twin fan, always will be. But tuning out after the Baldelli extension and joining my wife in watching the Brewers has been refreshing. The two teams and approaches are night and day difference. Brewers focus on athletes, meaning... speed, defense, base running, contact, moving runners into scoring position in close games( bunting or stealing bases), constant pressure on the opponents pitchers and defense, overall discipline, accountability to not only yourself but the team. With that, this team can't be sold fast enough. There needs to be a change in the front office and on the field...... Baldelli and Falvey need to be shown the door and should have last year. I don't trust Falvey in anything, this team has talent, especially in the pitching staff, so if he feels like he needs to do something trade away all the position players you want, because there needs to be a complete overhaul there anyway, but leave the pitching staff alone because I have zero trust in what you are doing and less in identifying talent in the position players. Worse is the lack of direction in this teams offensive approach, poor defense and basic fundamental baseball. Hopefully there's a new staff in place next season so I can tune in again. Have a great day everyone...
