  1. They minus well pay the amount to get Doumit out too. Hopefully we move at least two of Burton, Morneau, Doumit, and Swarzak (career year).
  2. It's not about getting a good return. It's about opening up spots for guys that likely can replicate Morneau's production for much longer than 1/2 a season.
  3. That would be great because of bringing Pinto up. It saves Mauer's legs for important seasons and we get to see what Josmil can do. Win-win. Personally, I really like Pinto and I think he's a top 10 prospect (right at 10) for us with a crowded system.
  4. We could go with a Parmelee/Colabello platoon. Just a thought, but I'm sure someone else has also considered the idea. This would give Parmelee most of the ABs that people seem to think he needs because more starters are right-handed.
  5. Mastroianni, Thomas, and Wilkin Ramirez are all serviceable coming off the bench. That's exactly how they've been used unless an injury forced them in. Mastroianni has been a great addition. He produced 1.0 WAR in under 200 ABs last season. He's a player we could really use right now because no one on the roster can steal bases since Revere and Span are gone. You know what puts butts in the seats? Wins. Players like the new Morneau don't produce wins.
  6. Virgil Vasquez can't even cut it as a AA filler. Get him out of the Twins organization for pete's sake.
  7. What's up with the Morneau love fest? I think a trade would be great for both the Twins and Morneau. The Twins are then able to play some young guys and Morneau gets a chance to play for a WS contender. Plus, whatever we can get for him is another incentive. Justin is in the midst of his 3rd straight below average season and he isn't getting any better. He's going to leave at some point anyway too.
  8. What about Most Improved? I think Dozier or Florimon can both make a case. They deserve some recognition for turning the middle infield into a strength.
  9. It seems like Achter is breezing through the minors. Does he have a good chance of making the MLB team soon? Perhaps a Jared Burton or Brian Duensing trade would open up a spot for him.
  10. Outside of the 5 in the top 41 the talent for us kind of drops off. I don't think we'd have any other guys in the top 100. Berrios is fringe and I think Jorge Polanco would also be close, but not there. If you go strictly by tools maybe Max Kepler-Rozycki too, but he's not performing well enough.
  11. Who had two? I doubt the White Sox had any and imagine Castellanos from Detroit made it. Between Cleveland and Kansas City, I'd like to know who's closer.
  12. I love what Rosario is doing. I've always been high on him because of his fantastic bat. Since around the middle of last year, I've figured he would probably be up with the Twins before his partner Sano, but we'll see. They may be up at the same time as September call-ups. Of course, they're going to both need 40 man spots.
  13. Buxton will be #1 and Sano will be #2. Ok Sano will probably be like #5. I think Rosario should be included (It will be close) and Berrios will be on the outside looking in. I expect the Twins to have four included. Stewart, Sano, Buxton, and Rosario. I'm not sure Meyer will make the cut with his injury status. Of course, Law could throw him in instead of Rosario. I'm just confident that there will be 4 Twins.
  14. It's interesting that he doesn't give Rick Anderson any credit at all or anyone on the Twins major leaguecoaching staff for that matter (Bruno doesn't count in this case).
  15. Who's that new Pirates ace? I've been following this guy and he's pretty good. I was thinking it might be Cole or Taillon, but this one throws lefty. Someone help me out?
  16. Let's trade them P.J Walters in a sabotage move!
  17. So really, I'm more about cutting ties with unimportant veterans who are in the way of young guys than actually acquiring value in return this deadline. The latter would be more feasible if people would play good!
  18. Doumit should be traded without a doubt. His positional flexibility actually seems like it's making him roadblock more players in my eyes. That's probably a bit of a false perception though. Regardless, I'd say he's giving the Twins an alternative to using Herrmann, Pinto, Parmelee, Colabello, and Arcia more often. I'm hoping that the Twins were only using Doumit in the 3 to get him more Rbi and as many plate appearances as possible (Can't bat him 1 or 2 obviously) to raise his putrid stats to trade-ability. If that were the case, he hasn't clearly not complied. I also don't think Burton has a chance at being "part of the solution" at age 32. Sure a lot of relievers can pitch into their late 30s, but it's better to cut and run then to chance it. Even if he were dominating like last season, I'd strongly advocate trading him. That would be all the more reason to. Switching gears, getting anything for Josh Roenicke and/or Brian Duensing would be a huge win. Duensing is one of my least favorite players, but I actually think the Twins might be better off keeping him for two reasons. 1: There isn't too many lefties in the system who would replace him (unless you're a fan of Darnell/Albers as a relief arm or have a high confidence in Thielbar) 2: He hardly has any value However, The Twins might just give up on him anyway. I mean's he's 30 years old and has been a terrible player for the past 2 1/2 seasons. Mike Pelfrey should stay a Twin for the time being. He's got a big salary for a player who hasn't performed i.e. who wants that? Sadly outside of players we should probably keep (Fien+Perkins), the only trade bait we have that's perfoming well are our friggin long relievers.
  19. There is nothing the Tigers could offer us to get Perkins. Nothing. I wouldn't accept Castellanos from them. I do NOT want Perkins pitching against us and neither do the Twins.
  20. I think Rosario has one of the highest floors of all our prospects. If Dozier is good enough for second, I think they would just shift him back to the outfield. Of course, he would be perfect for center (which we don't need). I think he's good enough offensively for a corner though. Rosario could be a high 200s-low 300s hitter with 10-20 HRs. His arm should be good enough there too. I guess it really depends who we could get, but I want to believe Eddie is a huge part of our future.
  21. You have to get an above average return or no deal. If any trade is a little bit iffy, the answer should be no.
  22. Why move Dozier when he's been the team's biggest success this season? He's playing a fantastic 2B and Rosario will have to find his own spot for the time coming.
  23. Beresford is at an age where I don't think the options matter much. He was up for the Rule V draft last year and no one took him. His value looks like its improved more though and he may get selected this year. It would make sense to add him if they have any intention of doing so in November when they may/may not be forced to.
  24. All 3 of the guys should probably be playing in triple A, so I'm really okay with this. I'm glad Colabello will be playing too. On the other hand, Bernier should NOT be on a major league roster. I'm not of strong belief that Chris Herrmann should be just yet either. I would have much preferred to see the Twins opt for Josmil Pinto instead. However, I think Herrmann and Bernier will just be used as bench players so there is no big reason for outrage. They won't be here long.
  25. "They haven't made the playoffs since 2009 and their best offensive players are approaching 30." I wouldn't say that. Carlos Gonzalez is still 27 and Tulowitski is 28. I mean, technically they are, since everyone ages, but they are a ways away.
