Alex was promoted to class AA and called on in relief right away, his first appearance did not go well but hee is now one step closer.

I don't think Vargas qualifies as an international free agent, PRs are in the MLB draft, unless he signed before that was the case, I'm not sure whenPRs had to enter the draft.

Trading Hughes would be utterly stupid. Give me an all-star quality pitcher, especially with a team friendly Deal, in the prime of his career, over a prospect any day!

Morris by far but tk has gotten much better this year. Smalley is awful. I would also like to hear Dick on the radio every once and a while, when he did spring training games a few years ago it was absolutely wonderful. So glad Ron Commer is gone, Gladden needs to follow him out the door, Smalley too.

Could lack of k's for Stewart be because the Twins are asking him to limit use of his slider? I thought I read somewhere that he was not throwing his slider to work on his other pitches.

During yesterday's broadcast Dick mentioned that Nick Gordon would start with Elizabethton, does anyone have conformation of this? If so I like the aggressive move by the Twins. This my even indicate he has a chance to be in Cedar Rapids by the end of the year (though I doubt it).

He has now been moved to the bullpen and has not fared much better, especially in a league that is supposed to be pitcher friendly. Hopefully this former 1st round pick can still turn things around and be a late bloomer but he has some work to do.

Good points though, except I don't understand why you would put Myers on the 40 man until you're actually going to call him up, why create a roster jam just incase you need someone and a spot.

During the second at bat of the bottom of the first inning, it looked like it was going to be a rough start for Alex Wimmers, one that might have been the final straw one the patience of some Twins fans. Alex has been a disappoint for Twins fans to this point in his career because he has not stayed healthy. After giving up a leadoff double and then balking him to third, I was afraid this would be the start that a lot of Twins fans would tell me to give up on him, he's done. Oh how wrong I was. After that scary start, he buckled down and retired the remaing 18 batters he would face on the night. When his start was over after six stud innings, his line read 0 runs on 1 hit, with 6 k's and free passes. He had six ground outs and three fly outs. He is now 2-0 on the year with a 0.93 era and a 0.62 whip with a .176 obavg. It was a great first start of the year for Wimmers after having a solid first appearance as a reliever five days ago. This start makes me even more exited about Wimmers' prospect status. If he strings together a few more starts like this, he will likely be pushing someone out of AA in the near future.

Wimmers is said to be a control type pitcher that will out smart hitters rather than blow them away. Coming out of college he was said to have three plus pitches including a very good change up. I think when the Twins drafted him, they were dreaming about a Brad Radke clone coming to Target field.
