    Is a paypal account required? I opted not to create one and it told me "Sorry, your last action could not be repeated." I've never had this problem before with ebay or any other online shopping, so I have no idea if the transaction worked.

    There's something that I'll probably have a nightmare about now. Maybe not so much the smaller forearm, but smaller bis/tris since I imagine the entire arm suffers. The muscle loss must be a big drawback while rehabbing. The whole "Use it or lose it," saying in effect.

    I like Terry Ryan somewhat as a scout, but overall as a GM I don't. Bill Smith should get more credit for the big names in our minor leagues and did a MUCH better job with international signings, but not drafting. Hardly any of his free agent signing have panned out and even the ones that initially did fell flat (Doumit, Burton, Hammer). His trades are good though. Mixed feelings, but I want a stat head Moneyball guy.

    Smart people know that they aren't experts at everything and will choose to learn from someone who is. You can choose whether or not you want to listen to someone who knows more than you or be stubborn and try it yourself. The Twins aren't being smart by refusing to get someone who knows something different than what is currently going on.

    How would you want your boss and his or her superiors to respond? ------- This analogy that you're making, Seth, is completely off point. There are only 30 MLB managers in the WORLD. It's an extremely competitive field where performance is really the end all deciding factor of whether you keep their job. Where as for common folk, there are 1,000s, 100,000s, millions even, that all do the same job where the work isn't as competitive and demanding. If Obama wasn't being a successful president, we'd vote him out and get someone who can.Let's keep it in baseball speak. It's not bad for the Twins if the grounds crew does their job, but not perfectly. It is bad if the people on top, like Gardy, aren't at an optimal level and have proven that their skills aren't up to current job standards. Being a manager for the Twins is much different than it was in 2006. We need a manager who works well with our youth, uses his head more than his gut, and has some experience. Gardy only meets one of those.

    Anderson couldn't develop Liriano, Hendriks, and I sure don't want Gibson and Meyer to be the next victims. We've finished last in the MLB for what, 3 years now? Two for sure.

    With Gardy managing the team, Buxton will probably end up like B.J. Upton and Sano will be deported following news he lied about his identity and age.

    Get him his 1,000 wins next year and fire him ASAP. When I read the news the afternoon, I could only imagine how up in arms everybody here got. Personally, I was on the verge of tears. I was in public so I had to hold myself up. The absolute worst part is Ullger and Anderson have, oh I don't know, a 98% chance of coming back too.

    Going 3 of 16 at the end of the year when only needing 5 is pretty...well I'm lost for words. The tank was successful and Gardy is stuck at 998 for the offseason. He'll get 1,000 with some other team (I hope).

    I have to ask after putting up another incredible season this year. It's hard to believe he had multiple years that were better than anything in Perkins' career. It seems like Mariano is a lock and Joe in his 5-6 year prime was not much more than a step below him. Joe is/was significantly better at accumulating strikeouts than Rivera too. He's 10th in career saves, had five 2.00>ERA seasons, a 1.091 career WHIP, a career 2.76 ERA, and a 9.6 career K/9. It's tough for relievers to get into Cooperstown and he's probably not first ballet, but am I wrong to think he gets in after a few years of eligibility?

    Letting Fien walk?! Why would you let him walk when he has an appreciable amount (receiving trade buzz) of value and won't even be arbitration eligible? So his ERA is 3.98. Big deal when your K/9 is 10.5, WHIP is 1.033, and K/BB is 5.92. I disagree with you often, but I don't see any sense in letting the only strikeout pitcher besides Perkins leave for diddly squat. On topic, I think Swarzak has been our best pitcher this year. Even more so than Perkins (through no fault of his own). I don't think he should get paid much more than 2.5 m/y when the time comes. I agree that his role is strange, but I think he should be kept in it. What I would like to change, however, is possibly bringing him in earlier when the starting pitching fails so the game is actually winnable. If say Diamond went 2/3IP while yielding 4ER, maybe send Anthony in to keep the game within reach before it gets out of it.

    The infield looks fine for the forseeable future with the exception of first. I'm convinced Parmelee isn't a major league hitter and Colabello will be too old even if he gets it together by the time we'll be good.

    I would vote for Trout too, but I'm not sure I can since they Angels won't make the playoffs (again). It's hard not to vote for him when he's been the best player in baseball for two years straight, while Cabrera continues to steal them. So next candidate becomes Robinson Cano, but lo and behold, his team sucks too. It's really a race between Donaldson and Cabrera. I'd vote Donaldson. Not because I hate Cabrera (but I do), but because of the .7 WAR difference and because Oakland>Detroit in wins in a tougher division. Sure they have the Lastros, but the central has the W. Sux/Twins duo. Cleveland and Kansas City don't have anywhere near the talent that the Angels and Rangers have either. Once again though, Cabrera is going to win it. Despite that he wasn't even the best 3B in the AL this season.

    Oh come on now. Sano is better than Boegarts. I get that elite shortstops are rare, but position value between SS and 3B seems to be pretty close. I find myself disagreeing a lot with this. For a guy who liked Rosario since HS, you'd think he'd give him a little more credit. I'd put Eddie in front of Meyer and 65 just feels too low when he's consistently been making top 50s elsewhere. Scratching my head at why he'd put Meadows and especially Frazier ahead of Stewart. All HS players and Stewart is the best athlete of all 3. Dropping Bauer that much seems too ridiculous this early. He's a top 10 prospect at the beginning of the year and a poor season gets him sent to 74 when there's still #1/#2 potential.

    I can see the reasoning for him being a #3. His fastball is a plus and his curve and change both look like average pitches. His control is pretty good, but he'd somehow have to make his curve or change a plus to be a #2.

    Like Tewkbury, I really don't see much fault with a higher leg kick. As long as it's performed when the ball is in the pitcher's hand (like Pinto does of course). With the getting fooled part, Pinto seems to balance on his right leg fine and stomps the left as soon as he wants to swing and for that reason, no early opening of the hips.

    I could have swore taking 2000+ lbs/sq. in. of force + possible injury=Running your mouth? Doesn't help that Maholm provoked him.

    If Sano got suspended 3 games for his HR, the Twins probably would have suspended Gomez for a month.

    His OPS is .831 while playing 1B and like I said the average is .808 at first. It's clear to see he that he has performed better when catching. Mauer is above average behind the plate defensively and league average at first. Value to me is a player who performs better than 15 other starters and Mauer isn't much above that at 1B.

    He's a Hall of Fame guy because of what he's done in the past AS A CATCHER. If he were a 1B his entire career he's not a Hall of Famer at this point. Is it really that hard to understand that 1B hit better than catchers? 2013 Average OPS for 1B: .808 2013 Average OPS for C (Excluding Mauer): .742 Mauer's a career .873. His .880 this year is #1 for catchers. #6 for 1B.

    Really we just need to abandon this whole "Twins Way" deal. I can't stand it and believe the opposite of all of it. HRs and power trump small ball and defense, strikeouts over PtC, and the no Platoon policy discussed on the other page.

    Parmelee will never hit over 20 HRs. Plouffe has shown he can (30HR potential) and probably would have been better had he not been limited by injury (.759 prior). I think he's a better all around hitter, but you are right about the OF defense.

    One more reason platooning Parmelee and Plouffe is a bad idea is that both are somewhat young. They simply haven't had enough data to justify it. You're basically giving up on both of them too by putting them in that type of role. Parmelee I've given up on, but I think Plouffe has a chance to still be what we'd like him to be. Platoons make more sense for older players (29+) who have wider splits than what these two guys have. To me, it's not a dramatic difference. A player like Valencia is perfect because he's very good against lefties (.875OPS), but is mediocre against righties (.631OPS). He has always been that way and always will and the gap is significant. That makes sense, not this.

    I hate this Plouffe/Parmelee idea. Parmelee is simply a terrible player that shouldn't even be platooning. His .717 OPS vs. righties really isn't much of an upgrade from Plouffe's .654 and 12 HRs. Plus, he OPSed .691 against them last year. In addition, Plouffe would have a lot more range then Parmelee in RF. Since most starting pitchers are right handed, Parmelee would get played more than Plouffe and that just makes me sick. Plouffe has shown he can play at an MLB level and has promise while Parmelee has done nothing of the sort. Oh, and Plouffe hits way more deengers. If anything a Parmelee/Colabello platoon and I'm not sure I like that.
