  1. Arcia just passed the 130 AB mark signifying the end of his rookie consideration for future seasons. If he's not eligible for rookie status next year (or any other), then his "prospect status" is generally gone too. I guess in this case though, no current MLB players included.
  2. Perhaps he's similar to Scott Diamond with strikeout material? Both soft tossing lefties. Just throwing that out there, but I really have no clue.
  3. I don't know what to whine about now since both Buxton and Gibson were promoted. Maybe I'll just save it up for the trade deadline.
  4. I hope he performs to the best of his abilities. Buxton surely will be fine defensively, but we'll have to see if he can hit these pitchers. If he can just be an average hitter here, I think he'll move past this with ease. Since we saw quite a few Twins' prospects crush the FSL, perhaps Buxton will too.
  5. I love him already
  6. Minier is on this team? That's all I needed to hear.
  7. I said he could surely be a back end starter, probably the best on this rotation (not saying much) because that didn't seem out of reach. Since a player had success one year, I'm not allowed to be optimistic about him? Am I bounded to support him while he's clearly not cutting it? He's obviously a different player now and adjustments need to be made. Forgive me for being wrong about a player being successful. Everything in baseball is truly predictable.
  8. What I find amazing is that he's been excellent vs. high tier pitchers. He's hit off of Fister, Sanchez, Sale, Hamels (rough year), and Gio Gonzalez all in June alone. It's like he wants to keep his job or something.
  9. 1/2 a season of Morneau would probably be worth more than whatever scrubs people will offer. A C or C+ prospect? NO. I'll take 1/2 season of quality production at a position of need over a 5% moonshot that the prospect of that caliber amounts to anything. We have nothing to lose by keeping him since he's not blocking anyone and payroll means nothing when it's been severely undercut and the contract expires this season. Haven't we seen enough sentimental players leave? Even with all the hype about the youth coming up, veterans are still a necessary. I don't think it's in the Twins best interest to trade him. If he leaves through free agency fine, but I see trading as a bit of a minor blow to the player you sent out.
  10. I sure hope so. I thought this week was it. I don't see how keeping him down is a positive for him.
  11. Joe Mauer is well ahead of the pace to have his first career 100 strikeout season. Don't look now, but Brian Dozier has cranked his OPS up to .670.
  12. I just don't get it. The Twins had nearly all their offseason acquisitions fail, have seen regression from many of their biggest contributors last season (Willingham, Diamond, Burton, Doumit, Mastroianni, Carroll), lost Denard Span and Ben Revere, and suffered through Aaron Hicks troubling debut. Yet, somehow they are better!!! Seriously, the only positive things we really added on from last year's team are Kevin Correia, Ryan Pressley, and Josh Roenicke. Remarkable and shocking. Am I surprised at the results so far? I'm not completely sold since it's June. I'm just in awe given the circumstances that have happened.
  13. You know, I actually think they will be a good team. For the wrong reasons though. Age over talent. Kuo Hua Lo, Stuart Turner, and Felix Jorge should be worth checking on every so often. Other than them, I don't see much for prospects. Although, we could have some draftees break out here.
  14. This isn't surprising at all. Why would the Twins trade their only reliable starter this season? Teams aren't going to suddenly give up so much more value for Kevin Correia than they would have in other years at the trade deadline. He's got enough of a career history to indicate what he is. The Twins should be looking to trade one or two of Doumit, Hammer, and Morneau. Still reluctant on Morneau, but would love to see Colabello get a chance to start.
  15. Why move Mauer away from catcher when he's been elite there defensively and healthy for a long time? My suggestion is that the Twins keep managing him as is.
  16. Who the hell would you rather play than him vs. Rightys?! Jamey Carroll? Eduardo Escobar? Gardy is bad, but criticizing his use of Plouffe is foolish when there is no superior option. A .678 OPS vs. RHP is not that terrible and I'm confident he will be able to top .750 in the future against them.
  17. Plouffe's bat is too good to be reduced to a utility role. In the future, find whatever position is weakest offensively on the Twins and move him there. Plus, he hasn't scratched his peak value yet. Let him continue to improve and validate his previous successes.
  18. I think Plouffe may have the most trade value for the Twins besides Perkins. Yet, I think it would be wise to keep him because he's a great offensive asset and has the right handed power we need. Trevor is starting to validate his breakout 2012 and it wouldn't surprise me if he heats up late this June or in July like last year. He'll have to move away from 3B in the future though. I'm on board with 1B and maybe *gulp* SS on occasion.
  19. Aaron Thompson would have to be pretty damn good to get an opportunity with the Twins. He has first round talent, but his success outside of this season isn't substantial. However, I certainly wouldn't mind him seeing replace Brian Duensing, who doesn't look like major league material.
  20. Here's a good article featuring Buxton over at Puckett's Pond. Puddle Jumping: Byron Buxton, Eddie Rosario and Miguel Sano - Puckett's Pond - A Minnesota Twins Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More
  21. Trade for Shields? Did you not see what the Rays got in return?! The #4 Prospect in baseball. To get Shields we would have had to trade 1 of Buxton or Sano at LEAST. James Shields is 31 and his deal is dead in 2014.
  22. Hmm... except my point was actually realistic since Plouffe has played 2B in the MLB.
  23. First off, they aren't RBIs. No such thing as Runs Batted Ins. How isn't a RBI a clutch stat? Don't make a statement and then not explain it.
  24. Personally I like winning and we need to build off something to contend next year. The race for the division is close at the moment too. I wouldn't throw away trying for that. We should use all the resources we have and do the best we can
