  1. I like the pick and I think Eades will be decent. Would have really liked to grab a lefty higher up though. I'm not a big fan of drafting Minnesotans, but Windle might have been a good pick there. The two shortstops Unroe and Mercado would have been solid too.
  2. We get a college right hander to add with Stewart in Ryan Eades. I like this pick and pitching is clearly our priority again.
  3. I'm thinking he's the #3 pitching prospect now? Tempting to put Berrios in front too, but I've heard most have him as a #3 while Stewart is a possible #2.
  4. 1. Appel 2. Bryant 3. Gray 4. Stewart 5. McGuire It plays: 1. Gray-HOU 2. Appel-CHC 3. Bryant-COL 4. Stewart-MIN 5. Moran-CLE 6. Meadows-MIA 7. Frazier-BOS 8. Shipley-KC 9. Smith-PIT 10. McGuire-TOR
  5. For some reason I think he will. I can just see him becoming the worst player to do so.
  6. Was looking through their box one guy that jumped out at me was SS Joe Panik (He played 2B in this one, but is listed at SS). Did some research and he was a first round pick in 2011 and he's put up an impressive combo of SB/HR throughout his minor league career. OPS is good too for his position. He's also 22, so fairly young and has been advancing at a steady pace. You'd think he'd be a borderline top 100 player, but I couldn't find him in any (not even Sickels 150). He'd be a player I'd really like to have. For the record, he went 0-3 with a BB.
  7. Baxendale was awesome. I was following it through gameday and was very excited as each inning progressed. The 7th inning he finished very strong with 2Ks and no baserunners. He was up to 93 pitches at that point though, so his departure was predictable. The line is impressive in itself, obviously. What makes this even better is that this was the same Richmond team that shoved him around in his first AA start. Also important note: The run DJ gave up was an inside the park HR. The Rock Cats defense was pretty pitiful, but Baxendale still was near perfect despite the obstacles. In addition, they committed 2 Errors prior to that.
  8. It would appear that this draft has been beyond successful. Obviously major league success is what we want to get, but there are a ton of guys that have been really great in the minors. Consider that the draft before we got Levi Michael, Hudson Boyd, and Madison Boer with the first 3 of 4 picks and this is even more incredible.
  9. Aaron Hicks is .375/.375/.750 in June Expect him to maintain that throughout the month.
  10. The Twins haven't allowed a run in 20 innings.
  11. If we can get him for around 6 million (and draft him obviously), I'd call that a huge win.
  12. It was pretty embarrassing to see Nomar Garciaparra put Molina at #2 ahead of Mauer at #3 when ranking the games top 5 catchers. There is no comparison between the two.
  13. This is something I love and hate. It's too bad that injuries kill careers, but at the same time, the immediate recognition and disgust remind us how the passion of the game still exists. It's tough to remember with the monetizing occurring in the new era. I think a lot of these players who don't get much spotlight and attention enjoy the game much more than the stars. I empathize with Ramon.
  14. The biggest reason for the success is the power explosion being put on by the Twins. They're hitting lots of HRs now. I think a lot of that comes from the mediocre opposing pitchers, but if they can keep producing runs through this "new" and "unheard of" method to score, we should be good moving forward. I expected this lineup to hit more dingers with Carroll sitting and the loss of Span+Revere. It was a little surprising that we weren't hitting many early. That was mostly because of Doumit, Willingham, and Parmelee starting slow, but they are doing a little better now.
  15. Hopefully this is another junk player on his way out of Minnesota. We've done a lot of cleaning house the past few seasons and it is great that the Twins finally may be sending out a player who's only upside is as a LOOGY. Thomas himself isn't very good, but I hope he'll provide some value.
  16. I don't think Ft. Myers would be a huge step for him to take. There are better hitters, but the FSL is a good environment for pitchers. Although, I think he should stick it out in Cedar Rapids unless his performance spikes. He's got a great future and I hope the Twins move him along with Buxton.
  17. 1. Stewart 2. McGuire 3. Ball 4. Shipley I can live with all those picks. Anything else and I'm furious.
  18. Baxendale is certainly a top 15 guy in my mind. I'm still not on board this Vargas train and I think you're underrating the Stache aka Nate Roberts by a mile. Wimmers was very aggressive as well. I don't like the "first round" pick argument because look where Levi Michael is at. Wimmers has a long ways to go and I strongly doubt he's a better bet/talent than quite a few of the guys beneath him at this stage. Otherwise, I would say I have to agree with this for the most part. No omissions, the rest are all in the range I expect, and good work.
  19. I'm glad Plouffe is back, but seriously?! We keep a player who can't hit in AAA over a guy who kills it?
  20. That's opinion. He's leading all shortstops in range factor, boasts close to a .980% Fielding, 2nd in Zone runs, and 2nd in Double Plays. His fielding rating per fangraphs is 6th behind Andrus, Simmons, Pennington, Drew and Tulowitski. He's not the best, but don't act like it's much of a stretch.
  21. Florimon has been fantastic so far. I'm in love with his game (even the scraggly beard). Should be noted that he's produced close to 1.0 WAR already and has arguably been the best defensive SS in the majors so far. He may not have much power, but he's hitting .385/.452/.615 with RISP. Cannot tell you how much I've seen him come through in the clutch. Exactly what we've needed from a Twins SS for years. He's been a quality starter and I hope he continues and proves you more wrong about the "stopgap" idea (in a positive way). Am I saying there's a chance he will be starting for the next 5-6 years? No, but with this SSS he's at least proving that he's capable of providing the level of play necessary.
  22. I really don't like the Rohfling move. I was hoping Pinto would be boosted to AAA this year, but as the only New Britain catcher and with a surplus in AAA already, it looks bleak. The Twins continually go about not rewarding performance. Vanimal's smile is adorable.
  23. Anyone else think Stewart is similar to JO Berrios?
  24. So almost like an early Barry Bonds?
