  1. We may have to get worse to get better. My best guess is the first big wave will arrive in 2016, that is why I expect the Twins should trade better players now and get more prospects back. Perkins will be 33 and Dozier 32 in 2016. My feeling is that 33-35 is the end for most big league players in the new non roid era. Therefore players who will not contribute or be in decline at that time need to be moved now while there value is high, not when the sure thing prospect replaces them.
  2. Trade should set a good benchmark for the Twins as the Cubs seem to be doing it the correct way. Twins need to take some chances and gain some top minor league prospects for 2016-2017. Best way to do this is to trade not only the expected, but also a Dozier and possibly Perkins
  3. Let's not forget Nate Roberts who has been injured most of the past 2 years and is at Fort Myers at this time. Still best upside players available should be targeted and most of those that can be had are in the A range ball at this time. Not sure things, but best guesses, you can never have enough talent.
  4. I feel you will have one of May or Meyer here and maybe both. That leaves Nolasco and Hughes with Gibson, May and or Meyer in the rotation. Rest can be fought over the rest of the year and in spring training. Twins will probably have to clear space for Berrios next year if not before. Pelfrey can either retire, be in the pen or DFA'ed.
  5. Twins need to look and say we will not be competitive until 2017, therefore any players who will not be key contributors by 2017 should be traded if the deal is correct. Dozier is the one player that will bring a big return, Perkins could bring a big haul, but relievers tend not to. Plouffe should be traded if the return is good. Any of the rest of the players are more clear space salary dumps and am more in favor of trading the pitchers rather than the player mentioned above.
  6. My feeling is that the Twins have a number of possible replacements and his value is high. At least entertain the thought and see what you can get.
  7. Twins have proven by now they are going nowhere this year, so what is the plan for the GM going forward. Most of the posts have suggested getting rid of players that will bring little in return, Willingham, Morales, Correria, etc. These players will bring at most a B- or C prospect and will be looked at a salary clearing. 1. Twins look like they have a surplus of 2B prospects coming so we make Brian Dozier available to the highest bidder. He could easily bring a top 10 prospect or 2 from any contending team needing an improvement at 2B and is cost controlled to some extent making clubs like KC or TB and others more likely to enter the bidding. He is the best chance for the Twins to maximize the return on a player. 2. Make Glen Perkins available (this one hurts, he is from Minnesota and wants to be here, so may not be the best move). There are several contending clubs that need bullpen help badly(Detroit for one). Take advantage of them while there needs are high. 3. Trade Trevor Plouffe if possible(this one depends on the return, but several contenders lack major league third basemen and you could still get a decent chance prospect or three from teams lower level (A+ ball and lower). This may sound like give up and move the content date out a year or two, but my viewpoint is now the earliest the Twins can realistically content is 2017 and Things need to be built to that point of time. Start the brickbats.
  8. Should be able to figure out where Parmelee fits in the next 2 weeks, rest is less certain. Much speedier move my the Twins than over the last few years, that is a good start.
  9. Thanks for the note on Nate Roberts, I have been a fan of his and hope he can force his way up the depth chart and to the Twins Cities soon
  10. I believe Florimon is gone. Hope Polanco gets sent to New Britian as he deserves this promotion. You handle the rest internally, do not worry about organizational filler.
  11. Twins will have to do at least that well to compete for at least a wild card spot. Anything under .500 you call start the fire sale and bring up the kids for experience for next year.
  12. Any contract has the possibility to be bad, that does not mean you stop giving 2 years contracts where you are short at the major league level. I expect both Willingham and Morales to be dealt and possibly one or two bullpen pieces, but they do not bring much in return.
  13. At sometime you have figure out what you have, so May should be starting up here next year if not this year.
  14. Like most of the ideas except Hughes, maybe you group Correria with another bat. Twins need to open spots in their rotation and this would be a way to do it. Also what about Nolasco to an NL team who could use him and take back some more prospects.
  15. Good for Pino, but I would have given May a shot first. Maybe a pressure factor, but we need to see what the real prospects will do.
  16. I think we should do the fire sale and expect to be between 70-72 wins. You will gain nothing by playing the decline players and getting to 76 wins. Call up the kids in the next two months and lets see what they have. That would lead to hope for 2016.
  17. Twins are a longer term focus, but you also have to have hope to win the big one. I feel and hope one of the top minor league pitchers will become that ace. Until in 2016 or 2017 you have answered that question, you do not need to spend the prospects to buy one, spending the money would be a better way to go, when you get into the top 10 teams in baseball.
  18. Signing one is not easy, giving up a prospect is a real gamble. My guess is the Twins wait to see which of the 4-5 top pitchers in the minors become an ace.
  19. Little high on some of the new guys(especially Clay), also might need to see if they sign first. Gordon is already signed, so should have a place. Nice entertaining list though.
  20. Good signing, gets rid of another of Gardy's pets and puts some real offense on the field. Also allows Twins to flip some decent players if we fade out of the race. Other note Rosario back to the outfield does not bode well for Hicks.
  21. Agreed, front office needs to remove the Kubel option at this point.
  22. Don't see the fuss. Either he turns it around or he doesn't. If he doesn't after the next 2 or 3 starts you go to option B. That would have him out of here around the end of the month and you have another 2 to 3 weeks to see which of the AAA starters should be promoted.
  23. Twins have long needed power arms in the bullpen Look at the Cardinals as an example, most of their relievers throw gas. Command can be another issue as most great closers have great command. You need a lot of relievers to find the special 1 or 2 that will be super.
  24. Time to end the second Kubel era in the Twin Cities. Good story but Kubel has nothing left in the tank
  25. You can never have enough pitching. Hope the Twins will take one of the top 3 if they fall to them. Not sold on Nola as scouts have him rated anywhere from a two on down. If one of the big three are not there hope the Twins will take either Jackson or Gordon, though neither is a lock. Only edge Nola has is that he could be here by 2016, that could be huge.
