  1. Yeah that seemed odd, the Berrios national love has been pretty high as of lately. This deal will likely turn out to be worse for the Rockies then the Johan one was for the Twins. At least the Twins got a little bit of major league value for Johan.
  2. No but he is higher on him then both MLB.com and BP.Also h is results this year have been subpar, 6.1 k/9? not good.
  3. I highly doubt Reyes is going to bring back 2 really good prospects, I would be shocked if he can get one of those, and am guessing its closer to a top 10 guy instead of a top 5 guy (unless money is involved or another bad contract) Reyes is a good player still but that contract is brutal, I want him on the Twins, but only if they can ship over Nolasco's contract in return.
  4. But that would involve taking the payroll into the top 50% of teams in the league, no? Pohlads clearly have no intention of doing so, and Ryan clearly has no intention of selling them on the idea of just trying this ONCE.
  5. The Blue Jays were actively looking for a buyer for Reyes for sometime, while I think he still has "value", 22 million is a vast overpay for him, even if it is just for 2 more years after this year. That is still 44 million a team can't spend elsewhere the next 2.5 seasons.
  6. No doubt in my mind that Terry Ryan absolutely dropped the ball on this one. He had a chance to get an elite SS (something the Twins have never had) and not give up the farm to do it. Instead, its just business as usual at Twins way, why try to win world series when you can continue to just have a below average payroll and sort of compete every once in a while. I thought the new stadium was supposed to make the Twins one of those teams that would "go for it" and compete with the big boys? Sadly, I feel this will be the continued course until the Pohlads give up the team. Conservative, Conservative, Conservative.
  7. Huh? The deal Toronto gave up wasn't even close to that. MAYBE one of Gibson OR Berrios and a Gonsalves type would have been closer in value.
  8. I don't see how people can just assume this.
  9. Gonzalez would be an interesting target, of course Hunter would be out of a job, but that's probably fine. And Arcia suddenly becomes more expendable as well to help upgrade other areas (Rosario probably as well) If the price was right I would be for it.
  10. Not only that, but since the Twins are in the wild card spot, that means their waiver slot will be behind all the teams chasing them, the odds of a Benoit, Zeigler, Papelbon etc not getting claimed before there spot is almost nil, the teams behind them know what the Twins need, so they would be blocking every good RP out there. Waiting for August is a disaster waiting to happen.
  11. They needed RP help (and C help) yesterday, these trades should have been made weeks ago, waiting around in August may be to late.
  12. Berrios and Gonslaves would have been the most comparable.
  13. THAT would be dissapointing, especially after robbing the city of those tax dollars to build target field.
  14. If they fail to even bring in a middle of the road RP this deadline will be a disaster for TR. The price paid for Clippard was marginal, they can easily get a good 8th inning guy without giving up any of their top 10-15 prospects.
  15. You think that will stop Bert from using his broadcast booth as a platform to be included on this list?
  16. Why are people so quick to want to get rid of Santana? He is our best pitcher currently and has looked great on the mound. For a team with a shaky bullpen it's nice to have a guy who can go 8 innings for you each time out,
  17. Bonnes, are you speaking about your girlfriend being a Yankee lover? I am more curious on how Mrs. Bonnes feels about that
  18. I don't want to trade him yet. But they have Rosario who has LH pop, Hicks as well. Vargas?
  19. Yeah, I think maybe it just means there is little chance he doesn't hit FA, thus limiting the Twins chances of keeping him since they wouldn't be able to work anything out prior to him hitting free agency. Maybe all for the best, I have doubts he can stick at Catcher personally. Twins have enough 1B, DH etc spots currently and giving him 4-5 years could be a huge mistep for this team.
  20. Because if he could play SS he would have any of these last several years when we had no real internal options.
  21. I'd rather get AJ and Benoit since the price would be significantly lower and the results maybe close.
  22. CC seems to take offense to such actions, I would just avoid it, versus having that fat turd throw at Mauer or Sano's heads.
  23. How about they just stop bunting? They seem to be pretty inefficient across the board.
  24. Scotland is amazing, what part did you visit?
