  1. I don't see why Turner would want to back up AP when he could get some possible starting gigs or at least 50/50 gigs. Also he is not going to be cheap, so paying a guy a bunch of money for 6-8 carries a game is not a good use of funds, besides Toby is a perfectly acceptable back up RB. I think in the draft you go: WR, LB (teo?) in the first round and then try to find a CB, DT and more LB's the rest of the draft. Spend a 4th rounder or so on another WR as well.
  2. I have a feeling that Arcia is going to need at least half a season in the minors before he is ready, don't get me wrong I am thrilled about him, but he really needs to get his strike out rate in check before he is a viable every day candidate up north. Benson I think will be given a shot just as a "sink or swim" type thing.
  3. I'm not sure how it messed with those guys though. In reality Revere, Parmelee and Dozier were never close to the prospect that Hicks is and was. Hicks is a 5 tool type guy, while the rest are 1 or 2 tool guys.
  4. Yeah. I am going to be all over this and will spread the word as well. GREAT gifts, thinking about the Miguel Sano bat personally and this is obviously an amazing project
  5. So this is off topic as its a different league but we have a last minute opening in a keeper league 14 teams 6 keepers, 5x5. The fee is $60 but we might raise it to $100 this year because an owner of one of the teams unfortunately passed away tragically over the weekend, the idea is we are going to take half the money and donate it to the family. If any of you are interested let me know, its a good group of guys mainly in Brooklyn and NYC.
  6. I don't understand why people think that sending him to AAA during the season and then back up to the majors is some sort of "wrong" way of handling him. As long as he is playing every day he will be fine. It's not like he is some "mental midget"
  7. Benson will be up with the club the minute they trade Morneau and move Parmelee to first base, thus opening up an OF spot.
  8. Nobody is attacking posters....
  9. Valencia prob should look into taking HGH or some steroids...
  10. I'd bring him back, he's a good enough guy and could be a solid 6th/7th inning guy for us, who cares that they traded him for Ramos.. its about what can help us win in 2013, not holding some stupid grudge.
  11. I doubt they have enough money to go get Cruz, I'd rather they just draft a WR in the first round and one later in the draft.
  12. I know this is going to be a touchy subject, but Bonnes and some of the others are going a little over the top with moderation these days, I know Fro was banned today and his posts were very tame. I think bans should only be handed out if a guy is actively breaking the rules, not just using some general snark in response to a ridiculous comment. Again its your site so you guys can do what you want obviously, but I don't think its good for the community to be running off some of the better and longer posters around.
  13. There was zero reason to keep colabello on the roster at this point...
  14. The twins aren't the only team that sign related players etc IMO the whole Mauer brothers nepotism has worked out pretty well for the Twins, we got an up and coming manager out of that deal, and it's not like Toby etc was ever taking at bats from people
  15. Also hicks as the starting CF actually creates some excitement and hope for the beginning of the season, I don't dislike maestro but let's be honest, he is nothing special
  16. The service time issue is overblown, the kid earned his spot give it to him! You can always sign him to a long term deal a year or two out.
  17. If Gomez repeats hist 2012 season there was a good chance he would have been able to get 40+ million on the open market. FACT
  18. I was at that game where Kubel hit that Grand Slam, the best part is the 11 previous games I had been to at Yankee Stadium I had seen the Twins lose. Man that was ****ing awesome!
  19. I realize that, but that wasn't the issue. He had one good minor league season and people got all hot and bothered that he would become some hot shot SS for us in the majors.
  20. Dude, he left when he was 23, it isn't some shocking revelation that he got better as he aged and got closer to his prime age.
  21. I still have issues with that trade, I think they bailed on Gomez (23) way to early and basically traded him away at his absolute low point. Yeah, Hardy ended up playing well for us and we obviously should have kept him around, but keep in mind, Hardy most likely could have been had for ANYTHING at that point since he had already lost his job and spent a good chunk of the season in the minors. I never understood why the hell they never sent Gomez to the minors to work on his swing.
  22. I think there is still some upside with Gomez, people forget how young and raw he was when he was in the majors (Thanks to the stupid Mets) he will be 27 for the full 2013 season and his home run "spike" last year could indicate he is finally getting those man muscles. Also he had the most stolen bases of his career last year (37) and his SB/CS ratio was fantastic at 37/6. He is never going to be a high avergae or high OBP guy, but if he keeps up his power you are looking at a guy who at least has an average overall bat. So you have very good speed, very good defense at a premium position and an average bat of a guy who is in the prime of his career. 4/28 has risk, but it could end up being a steal for the Brewers to be honest. If he can build on last years numbers it absolutely is a good deal for Milwaukee.
  23. To be fair though, the Twins had NOBODY who deserved that 25th roster spot last year.
  24. I agree with Fro, there is zero reason to be training emergency catchers throughout the minors, its a one in a million chance. Let's put it this way, you would be much better served teaching your position players how to pitch then to worry about having a glut of emergency catchers in the org, seeing how position players pitching occurs about 20x more then the whole 3rd catcher being "needed" Anyone can go behind the plate for a few innings and catch a few balls, yeah, its probably going to be ugly but it is what it is.
  25. The majority of scouts said he projected to be more of a util guy then a starter, for some reason people got super optimistic and thought he would be the SS of the future.
