  1. Yeah, at the very least he provides a "veteran presence" who is at least better then the majority of your in house options.
  2. 19, 23, 22, 30, 24 (NYY) TO 41 and 43 HR at age 30 suddenly? I mean he hadn't been linked before...but the dude basically doubled his yearly HR output two years in a row.
  3. I really hope this is true.
  4. DeVries may not crack it out of spring training, but I would be shocked if he doesn't get at least 12+ starts for the Twins this year.
  5. He was a 3.2 WAR player last year and gets on base at a very good clip, he's obviously not a long term solution, but he should be the starting SS as long as the Twins are trying to "compete" Florimon and Escobar literally do nothing for me, I can't see either one becoming anything more then a "Meh, we will keep him around until we find something better, UTIL guy"
  6. Boggs frankly has zero upside, I guess he is nice org filler but nothing else. Clement would be a nice story. Ramirez...meh. Bring on Thome!
  7. Give me Carroll as the every day SS over Florimon and Escobar.
  8. Dude! This is great info actually, lame about the Budweiser sponsorship but it would certainly make sense. I'm sure someone will complain that this thread is a bad influence to kids or some nonsense, but I dig it.
  9. I think its a different "NFL" these days, you need two solid QB's that can both play at a "starter's" level, **** having zero back up last season literally screwed us when it mattered most. A guy like Landry or Flynn isn't nesc an upgrade, but they can at least push Ponder if he struggles, this team has WAYYY to much other talent to be dealing with a Ponder/Webb 1/2 or the likes moving forward. Hopefully they bring in someone who can compete.
  10. What have you seen to indicate this?
  11. Agreed, there is no downside. Worst case scenario is you end up cutting Thome and eating a million. No reason for Drew to be on the major league roster out of spring training.
  12. For better or worse Ponder is going to be the starter for us in 2013. I wouldn't mind in bringing Flynn to compete with him if the price is right, or drafting a guy like Landry Jones if he slips to the 3rd round. (Keep in mind if Jones came out last year he was an easy top 15 pick)
  13. http://i49.tinypic.com/2v1t9wh.png I am APPALLED! Family website my as....i mean butt. Now to have a shot of whiske.....apple juice before bed.
  14. I'm all about looking down the road..but 7 years is a pretty futile endeavor IMO 4 is aboutright
  15. At this point it's not even worth arguing with people who think he could "hack it" this year in the MLB. It was eight! At bats.
  16. Yes, because a hall of fame player like Thome is the exact same as a career minor league catcher.
  17. Why the hell would they not give Thome a major league deal? Just give him 1 mil and call it a day. Do they forget the guy had a 182 OPS+ for us in 2011? Yeah, last year he struggled a bit, but still had a 112 OPS+ which is about 5x better then what our current 25th man (Butera) gives us.
  18. I would offer him 1 year 10-12 million, if he takes it you can just trade him at the deadline for a prospect that is better then a 2nd round pick anyways. If the twins are competitive then you hold him and take the pick for the next team that signs him.
  19. Well to be fair the Twins play the past two years has probably driven many of us to harder alcohol.
  20. Anyone that claims that Rosario is even close to MLB ready in any facet of his game is being a little ridiculous at the very least, the kid is a stud prospect no doubt...but has plenty of work to do as most raw talented young prospects do. I am stoked about his great 8 at bats, but lets be real..8 at bats mean next to nothing especially the first week of spring training! However this does get me more excited for 2014 and beyond!
  21. I'd also personally give Benson a contract extension while we are at it! Keep in mind Eddie has gotten his hits off a bunch of guys throwing 80% or who will be bagging groceries in a couple months.
  22. I think he becomes Michael Cuddyer with a little more power, better defense but with a much lower average
  23. I think he becomes Michael Custer with a little more power, better defense but with a much lower average
  24. Obligatory http://i48.tinypic.com/14cupld.jpg%5B/IMG%5D
  25. Yup. http://i48.tinypic.com/x5cdpv.png
