I dunno, Rick Reed wasn't sexy by any means but he did help them get to the playoffs in 2002 with a sub 4.00 ERA and almost 200 IP. (Had the most IP of any Twins starter and the 2nd lowest ERA behind Santana)The Twins also had an abundance of outfielders at the time. Those are the kind of good trades good GM's make, was it a highway robbery ala the Frank Viola or AJ deals? Of course not, but it was a very good move for the Twins that ultimately helped get them to the playoffs and ALCS the next year.

My company along with Deadspin are hosting an opening day MLB party in the east village this upcoming Monday from 1pm to 1am. If any of you Twins fans are around it would be great to catch the Twins game followed by the film screening. Oh, yay, arguments using solely WAR as the only stat/criteria used. What could possibly be wrong with that logic. Also as far as Butera vs Burnett goes, at least Butera fills in at a position the Twins are currently very very shallow in, I have hopes for hermanamnamnamnamnanan as well but he isn't ready and continues to need every day at bats, if Doumit/Mauer goes down for a few days having Butera on the roster isn't going to kill anyone, on the opposite side of things, if there is one thing the Twins do have an abudnace over (other then high upside CF) is relief arms who may be capable. Burnett had his chance, and honestly, within 3 months would have been ridiculously far down on the Twins depth chart regardless.

Meh, who cares about Butera, as long as he is in AAA he isn't hurting the club. Burnett sucked, not sad to see him go, but he seemed nice enough so maybe he can at least make a few bucks the next few years.

As those deadspin articles have pointed out in the past, all these numbers need to be taken with a HUGE grain of salt, you can do a lot with a sharp accountant etc. -

Well I mean personally, that makes it more appealing to me. But two guys, two older women,etc it's all good, especially if it makes a few people get really upset, I take a certain amount of joy seeing jerks getting upset. Maybe that is because I am an *******, but still..totally worth it. -

I mean the sausage race and the presidents race were at least unique, this just reeks of "Hey lets just sell some more advertising every which way we can, but LOL we aren't going to spend it on the product on the field, who cares if we are down 7-2 in the 2nd inning because we signed Kevin Correia, just 4 more innings until you can see crappy mascots running around on the field! LOL its a mosquito, get it? Because there are mosquitos in Minnesota! Btw, please buy a $20 stuffed mascot for your kids, because we need more monies!!!" /end rant. -

Oh I was being serious, I really dug the movie. Visually it was simply amazing and James Franco was downright awesome in the role...plus really, really funny. It def had a Natural Born Killers vibe and the girls who were the "leads" did a fantastic job, the social satire was spot on, and plus it had all sorts of sex, drugs, violence and rock and roll (well I guess it was Skrillex) throughout, overall an extremely fun movie that had a ton of underlying themes. Keep in mind this is the same director that wrote Kids and Trash Humpers, I think a lot of people went into it thinking it was the next Super Bad or Project X, those people would be very dissapointed. Also if people are sensitive to watching 19 year olds doing drugs off one another while getting it on, I would probably say they should avoid it as well. If you can possibly watch it at one of those movies that serves booze or food, see it there.

The problem is the Blue Jays have no reason to trade him at this point, he is a high risk/high upside pitcher at this point whose value is at an all time low, if he figures it out again, which is a very real possibility, they will hold onto him.

Kill sucks and will never lead them to more then 7 or 8 win years.

The problem is there won't likely be any pitcher truly "knocking" on the door to replace Correia, if the Twins have 4 "solid"pitchers and Correia is the only one who is an issue, well, then the Twins are in better shape then I would predict at that point.

To be honest I think Parmelee needs to prove to deserve to play every day, if Mastro continues to hit at a decent clip and Parmelee isn't mashing (esp against LHP) you almost have to start doing a straight up Platoon. Mastro at least brings a good amount of value with his legs and fielding work, while Parmelee is a one trick pony more or less when he is in the OF.
