    So today is Marriage Equality Day I think, it's amazing and refreshing to see how the general tide has changed over the past few years, hopefully within a decade we will no longer have to have a day like this as all my brothers and sisters will be allowed to be happy and married with anyone of their choosing.

    Alex Meyer can't get in this rotation soon enough, I mean guys like Diamond, Worley, Pelfrey can be serviceable, but this team desperately needs a front rotation guy. (Hopefully Gibson can become that as well)

    But the Twins WEREN'T and AREN'T in the AL East, how is this held against Gardy? If the Ravens were in the NFC West this year they would have missed the playoffs, does that mean John Harbaugh didn't do a great job this year?

    Yes, clearly a guy (not to mention one of the most respected around any more) who is PAID a good amount of money to know and report about baseball for a major media company knows nothing about the Twins. If only he had such reptubible sources that mentioned that Baker had a 3 year contract from the Twins...then maybe we would take his word at more than face value. (No offense but you walked right into this one saying he doesn't know what he is talking about)

    Why do you bring up the last decade? Pretty sure Gardy lead them to the division title in like half of those seasons, success like that isn't exactly common place in many sports, much less MLB.

    I mean I think most people thought a 1 year 3 mil deal would have been fair/fine to offer, but at the end of the day I don't blame the Twins one bit for not pursuing more actively. Yeah the Correia deal was bad, but only because they "panicked?" and gave him 2 years instead of 1 year.

    I was unaware baker was still on the Twins, shouldn't this be posted in the general baseball thread? I feel bad for what has happened to him, but this hardly has anything to do with the Twins in 2013 at this point and doesn't "legitimize" the reasoning they had for keeping him or letting him walk since nobody could have seen this setback happening.

    I would have given Garland a flyer. I'm not sure which "prospects" we are talking about anyways, Gibson is on an innings limit and the only other real "prospect" in the system who is close is Hendriks who will certainly get his chances this year regardless. Guys like DeVries, DeDuno etc are not prospects and continue to be nothing more then org filler at the end of the day, as unsexy as Garland is, at least he had shown the ability to pitch around 200+ IP with a sub 4.50 ERA which does hold some semblance of value in the majors. Though I'm not exactly heart broken that he signed with the Rockies...meh.

    That's fine, but if he can't be at least average for a 1st baseman then the Twins need to consider resigning Morneau or bringing in someone who can.

    Well then he shouldn't be viewed as anything other than a short term solution. Puckett/Olivia etc had other skills they brought to the table other then their bats. Parmelee is basically a no field guy, zero speed etc, he needs to hit if he is going to be at 1st base.

    He is a first baseman moving forward, and an .830 OPS would put him just above average for the position (right by Chris Davis and Garrett Jones). Anything below .800 would put him below average for the position, and on a team like the Twins with question marks at numerous other positions they certainly need a good 1st baseman moving forward.

    Oh man it only got better, he did a countdown of the 10 posters he "hated" the most and people got really excited/interested if they would be in the top 3 or not. He then came back as a different name/new persona but everyone knew it was him but let it play out, sure enough about a month later he had another meltdown. It sounds childish but it was some of the most hilarious stuff I had ever read, and made "long days" just a little bit better.

    An old favorite for sure, this is where people can post about the Twins, Sports or Life in general after having a few beers, ideally at the very least this brings rongardenhire or fatbeer out of the wood work. I'm sure the normal forum rules still apply so keep it somewhat clean.

    If he isn't able to pitch better then Cole DeVries is it really a "fear" to put him on waivers to send him down? 17 innings of march baseball have made be a little crazy in their expectations of him...
