  1. Also how the hell does defensive WAR work for a catcher? Mauer is not playing a ton of games behind the plate this year and already is on pace for by far his best defensive season of all time, that just doesn't seem right to me to be honest and perhaps the eyeball test is the true way to measure a catcher defensively.
  2. Piazza is in a class of his own to be honest, 4 years of 1.000 + OPS and another 7 of .900+ OPS. Also for as much **** as he got of his defense, he was a life time 1.0 defensive WAR back there.
  3. Twins go 5-1 against the Yankees ending the curse. 7-5 against the rest. 12-6 overall, one game over .500 and 2.5 games back of first place. BOOK It
  4. I will be at the Twins games @ Yankee Stadium that Fri and Sat and the futures game on that Sunday. I was thinking about getting tix behind the plate, but with Buxton roving CF I might just have to get CF seats to see him up close and in person for more than just a couple at bats. Anyone else going?
  5. LOL thanks to whoever reported my in jest comment about Nishioka and got me reprimanded....didn't realize we were in freaking church here.
  6. The Yankees will take him
  7. Absolutely not, Lee is going to cost 77 million from 2014-2016.
  8. Perhaps [video=youtube;Q3b5aOelFL4]
  9. IMO catching is all about the eyeball test, Mauer is just fine and one of the better defensive catchers in the game. Of all catchers all time only Mike Piazza has a higher career OPS then him (I think Posey might too, but lets wait a few years on that)
  10. What does speaking the language have to do with anything?
  11. Clearly a lifetime positional player minor leaguer, and the great white hope Kyle Gibson are clearly the same type of player no should be handled similarly.
  12. The things people will bash the front office about...can't make this **** up! They prob want him to do a bullpen session with Andy, get a feel of the majors, meet his teammates etc (ie work a few nerves off) People saying we should bring up butera instead and criticizing Ryan for that, wow just wow.
  13. I would Not trade Mauer for that package, you would Need at least one can't miss guy
  14. Hernandez goes out and puts us in a position to win. 5 IP, 2 R. Gibson to start Saturday. Another case of Ryan clearly not knowing what he is doing...
  15. Agreed 100% the problem is you prob have to eat some of his salary now as well.
  16. Give me a break, ERA is "Flawed" no doubt, but you fail to mention how FIP and xFIP are "flawed" as well. At the end of the day who would you rather have on your team over the course of a year: The guy with a 4.00 ERA and 4.50 FIP or the guy with a 4.50 ERA and a 4.00 FIP It's pretty obvious player A put you in a better position to win, whether he was good/lucky or a combo of both
  17. Well, yeah, in a perfect world that would work. I don't think Ryan would turn that down, nor would anyone here argue against that. Some of us are basically saying "Don't trade Correia just for the sake of trading him" Also, KC+Willingham/Morneau/etc isn't going to net that great of a prospect. Willingham even during and after his monster year last year was reported to not be able to bring much more back then a C+ prospect.
  18. I'm pretty confident he will be up within the next week or two regardless. People need to calm down a bit, if we are having this conversation in a month, then I would be pissed. Oddly enough I think they are trying to "audition" Pelfrey at this point, I read on MLBtraderumors earlier that there was a team looking at him. Also have the Twins publicly said how many innings they are limiting him too? I can't remember.
  19. They are going to pencil Gibson into the 2014 rotation regardless.
  20. So if a player struggles or doesn't work out it's Terry Ryan's fault, but if the player does well or exceeds expectations Terry Ryan just got "lucky" or had nothing to do with it? Got it.
  21. In re: to Worley, he was coming off a pretty significant injury so it was always a large risk/unknown. The real star of that trade was May IMO since he has some real nice upside, anything from Worley would just be a bonus (I still have faith he is decent again down the road) and keep in mind we got all of this for basically a 4th OF in Revere.
