  1. I watched a little. I'm a results guy, Hughes obviously did more than enough to keep the twins in the game and gave them a chance to win. Hughes is definitely one of the top 5 pitchers overall for this team (with Santana back) and especially for moving fwd, if the twins are gonna make the playoffs Hughes will have a significant role is my prediction.
  2. I think Jacque Jones but with the ability to actually hit half way decent against most LHP. Jones was a nightmare against LHP. The power will come for Rosario, most players not named Harper and Trout take a few years to start hitting bombs, I am guessing 20 HR power eventually. The walks will come too, the kid is still 5 years away from his prime, plenty of improvement yet to come.
  3. Lol I love it, only Minnesota sports fans could find a way to gripe about a guy who goes 8 innings and allows 2 men to reach base all night.
  4. He is only 23....his ceiling is hardly limited. Good lord, some people have no patience these days.
  5. Also I wonder if Papelbon wouldn't be that upset if the option didn't vest? The White Sox just gave Robertson close to 50 million over 4 years, I bet Papelbon could get close to 20 for a two year deal, no?
  6. It would be a great move, Papelbon is one of the elite RP in the game, if they could snag him the Twins would have a deadly 8th/9th inning combo. The $13 million option is a bit scary, no closer is "worth" that money but at least he produces. Sounds like the Twins would have to pick up the option if they traded him over, I wouldn't be super opposed to that if the Phillies kicked in about 5 million or so? I'd dangle Arcia, Milone and Nolasco (one can dream right?) to see if any combo of those guys would be of interest, but likely they would have to toss in a couple prospects as well, which I necessarily wouldn't be opposed to. Meyer in the 7th, Paps in the 8th and Perkins in the 9th could make this a team to be feared down the stretch.
  7. I too am a fan of the road course races, I would LOVE to make it up the road to Watkins Glenn one of these years, perhaps this is the year to do it. Is Boris Said racing at least this weekend? They should put a road course in the 1st round of the chase, it would make for a compelling race instead of just a million 1.5 mile tracks that all race the same. I would also like to see the sprint cup series run at Iowa one of these years, oh, and more dirt races for the trucks! I grew up going to sprint cars, IMCA modifieds on the dirt tracks in the midwest, so those races hold a special place in my heart.
  8. Just imagine Vargas home run last night, and times that by about 15 the rest of the season.
  9. I think they would look to shop him. HanRam is such a disaster in LF I think they would want him to DH
  10. $10 million for 2016 isn't that bad.
  11. Bring him home terry! Milone+arcia+another prospect enough to get him?
  12. Say what you want about his struggles, but his hits (and more specifically his HRs) seem to come when the Twins need them the most. His HR yesterday may end up being the most important at bat of the season for the Twins if they make the playoffs. The Twins were in a massive slide and about to drop 3 of 4 extremely well pitched games against the Cardinals, it was 1-0 in the 8th inning with 2 outs. That HR may have very well saved the season for this club.
  13. Yes it is because of what he did in 2014, he threw 209 innings of pretty damn good baseball and set an all time record for K/BB ratio. He still isn't pitching poorly, he is just getting bit by the long ball which is at its highest rate in his whole career (which was previously spent in the bandbox that is Yankee stadium) I think those numbers will come back to normal on there own and I am confident that Hughes can pinpoint the adjustment he needs to make to keep the ball in the park at Target field. If it is a dead arm, then just DL him for 15 days, and then bring him back into the rotation. Moving forward I am very confident that Hughes is not only one of our best 5 pitching options in 2015, he is actually one of the top 2 or 3.

What really bothers me the most about this is just how it all went down. A group of African Americans are holding their weekly bible study, a weird looking 21 year old white kid shows up and they welcome him with open arms, include him in the talk and treat him warmly. An hour later 9 are dead, there only sin was showing love and acceptance to everyone and having an open door policy. If there was a gathering of 9-10 white people down in the south, even in a church and a 21 year old "weird acting" black guy just showed up, do you think they would be as non judgmental and as open as the 9 who died the other day? I don't think so. I just can't wrap my head around how messed up all of that is.
  15. Also with a guy like Hughes he has earned a long leash and you have to have patience with him, if he was rocking a 5.80 ERA right now I may be on board with looking to put him in the pen, but it's far too early IMO to consider it.
  16. Hughes isn't doing as bad as some people are making it out to be, I just think our expectations for SP have gotten higher this year which isn't a bad thing at all. Hughes overall has been pitching fine other than giving up the long ball, if he can eliminate that down a bit then he suddenly becomes a sub 4.00 ERA pitcher again. Look at his last 6 starts: 7IP 2 ER 7IP 2ER 6.2 IP 4 ER 4.1 IP 5 ER 7.2 IP 3 ER 6 IP 3 ER That is 4 solid starts out of 6, 1 poor start and one "bad" start. I can live with that.

He will never see anything close to Gen Pop, he would be killed within 15 minutes. The kid likely showed some serious signs prior to this, they should hold his knucklehead dad accountable as wel for literally handing this scumbag a loaded weapon.
  18. I think Arcia will be a slightly below average LF/RF bat while playing terrible defense. He will play 7-9 years in the majors but will bounce around to at least 3-4 teams having a solid but not spectacular career.
  19. Good lord, what a terrible terrible tragedy, no matter what you think about religion and/or gun rights etc this just shouldn't happen in ANY country, much less a developed one. As Americans we like to point at other countries and say "Hey they repress their people, or Hey, look at all the awful **** going on over there" but it's time for us to take a good hard look in the mirror and figure out what the hell we are doing wrong that sets up a scenario where a 21 year old KID can just decide to walk in and gun down 9 innocents who are doing nothing more then discussing their religion in an apparent safe and open setting.
  20. Keselowski is my favorite racer with Truex not far behind. Harvick is going to be tough to beat overall, seems like he is in contention every. single. race. Truex has been the same as of late, but I think its really really hard for a 1 car team to win it all, would certainly make a fantastic story though, I got him to win the chase at 50:1 before the Daytona 500 in Vegas, so I am rooting for him. Dale Jr running well as well. I would personally rate the odds to win it all as: Johnson 3:1 Harvick 4:1 Busch: 6:1 Truex: 8:1 Keselowski: 10:1 Logano: 10:1 Dale Jr: 10:1
  21. If Pelfrey keeps this up it would be a win win win win scenario for the Twins (Hopefully one of those wins is a world series clinching one) If he ends the season with a sub 3.80 ERA you offer him a qualifying offer, either he accepts it and you have a solid pitcher on a one year deal (albeit a little expensive but the Twins can afford it) or you get a draft pick. Or maybe you trade a guy like Gibson or May for a REAL prospect at SS or C and you keep Pelfrey around on a team friendly deal, I think he has turned a pretty large corner personally, he now has more than just a 95 MPH fastball with movement in his arsenal. a Sub 3.25 ERA may be out of the question moving forward, but I think he can be a solid mid rotation guy for any team. So, keep him unless someone wants to give you a Wilson Ramos type in return.
  22. Hey now, I'm not Rocketpig, Jesus? Maybe, but Rocketpig? No.
  23. The twins FINALLY have a legit 3rd baseman after years and years and years of Bautista, dizzy Koskie , Juan Castro, Harris, Buscher, Punto, Crede etc Unless someone offers you the moon, you don't trade Plouffe yet. The odds are Sano won't stick at 3B (which is fine) Just because it looks like you have depth it doesn't mean you do, it just takes one injury, failure etc to obliterate that depth (see; Ramos for Capps trade)
  24. Had a very important "meeting" with "clients" at the "classy" not at all "dive" bar, to talk "business" and watch the game. Best 3 hour meeting ever.
  25. 3 for 3 thus far with Dozier, Hunter and Vargas. Hopefully will find some good timing in the next few months to turn Aaron Hicks into a star playe.
