    Term limits

Not when it comes to the voter ID and limiting voters piece. Those programs are primarily set up in states to discourage/make it tougher for poor and/or minorities to vote, both of which vote heavy democratic. I also think it's a little stupid that convicted felons can't vote either. As long as you aren't in jail at the time, you should get a vote. (Again, because of the system convicted felons are much more likely to be democratic voters because of low income and/or being a minority.)
  2. You have to PR Sano since he is the tying run in that situation. I'm more concerned with the Buxton bunt and bringing in Duensing.
  3. Most people don't, especially when talking about a pitchers ability. I'm not sure what point you are trying to make, you are just derailing the thread because of semantics. The original post in this thread was pretty clear on the meaning of "ace"
  4. Your point? Blackburn and Nolasco both started opening day for the Twins, would anyone sane (heh) call them an ace?
  5. Hitting lead-off he had a .851 OPS this year, batting anywhere but lead-off he has a .587 OPS. Maybe put him back to the lead-off spot?
  6. Have you ever heard of a free agent saying they would refuse to sign with Minnesota? I haven't. Nor have the Twins ever actually made an offer towards an ace.
  7. I think it is somewhat relevant, since there has been a question of "money" when it comes to the Twins and its the same concept (why sign a bunch of meh to average players, when you can sign a true impact player or two)
  8. You can also add in the pointless overpays for guys like Stauffer, Hunter, Kubel, Bartlett, Pelfrey over the past two years as well, that opens up over 25 million or so more (over 2 seasons) to help sign an impact player.
  9. Also, this Twins are a "small market team, therefore they can't sign an ace" meme needs to stop. If teams like Detroit, Texas, Seattle, Toronto, can afford long term huge contracts, there is no reason whatsoever why the Twins can't. Also, money talks, if the Twins offered the most money, an ace would have came here anytime the past 3 years. It's a good ballpark, good city, good fans, young talent, etc.
  10. Kazmir is the guy I wanted the Twins to target the past two years, that is the #2 that costs $10 million a year. In regards to Verlander, not sure how you can say his contract is an albatross moving forward, he was hurt for like the first time ever seemingly this year which lead to early on bad results, however in his lat 10 starts he is looking like the Verlander of old rocking a 2.03 ERA and even a dominant no hitter. Pretty much everyone else on that list besides Sabathia you have used the reasoning "Oh well he has looked good so far, but you never know what will happen in the future!" Sorry, that just isn't a strong argument when you are talking about Nolasco, Santana and Hughes who combined have done zero this year in the present.
  11. Uh, none of those guys with the exception of CC were ever an Ace or considered an ace.
  12. I wish Rosario could still play 2nd
  13. Yeah, I thought the exact same thing about the buxton at bat. Molitor loves to overthink things way too much and thus far it has burned him more than it has worked out.
  14. Trout is one of the best two all around players in MLB. Setting expectations that high is absurd. Young Torii Hunter is a much more realistic expectation.
  15. Sabathia pitched like an ace for the Yankees until his injury. Johan was a freak injury that nobody saw coming. For each of them you have guys like Verlander, Scherzer, Grienke, Kershaw, Felix, Lester, Hamels, Etc etc who were well worth the price. Conservative is just in the Twins DNA, while other teams risk it for upside, it happens in free agency with mid rotation guys like nolasco, Santana etc and in past drafts like Revere (grrrrr) At the end of the day I would rather the Twins swing big and potentially miss like a Sano at bat, instead of playing it safe and hoping for a slap single (like a revere at bat)
  16. For reference: Suzuki last 40 games: .668 Robinson last 40 games: .634 Time to step up and earn that contract Brian! Less practicing on your dance moves and more batting cage time.
  17. A DFA would suffice
  18. He isn't even close to being as good as Gardy was. Gardy would have this team 2-3 games Up in the wild card race.
  19. Last 40 games: .196 batting average. .601 OPS 4 HR Lot of talk about him being the team MVP and the best 2nd baseman in baseball. Sorry, that will never be a reasonable opinion until the guy actually shows up for the 2nd half in a season. Not sure what is wrong, conditioning? Focus? The worst luck ever multiple years in a row? Either way, dozier may have been the Twins MVP of the first half, but without a doubt has been one of the least valuable players of the second half. Time to move him down to 7 or 8 in the lineup and move Escobar or anyone up. Look to trade him in the offseason potentially, a team with playoff aspirations can't afford to put up with these let downs when it counts.
  20. 90% incompetence 10% ignorance
  21. You are cool with them losing this series against 3 guys with near 5.00 eras? Two of them lefties? Toast.
  22. Good ****ing at bat Dozier. Way to piss all over an easy ball four to GIDP. If there was a least valuable player for the 2nd half you would be right up there. Less dancing, more learning to ****ing hit a ball after the all star break bud.
  23. How dare you question a manager who has proven absolutely nothing as a manager!
  24. Losing 2 out of three at home, versus the lame duck tigers throwing out 3 garbage pitchers. Season is done. Pelf, Duensing, Boyer, and every other player who won't be here next year shouldn't see another inning. Let the rookies and youngsters play and gear up for 2016. Was a fun season, could have been special with an even average GM and/or manager.
  25. You could write a 1,000 page novel on how much molitor has messed up this year. This would be page 984, 16 pages tonight dedicated to tonight's debacle.
